Watching this brings back memories. We traveled to Poland in 2023 and LOVED the food and the Milk Bars. Our airBnB in Krakow was right across from the Judah Food Trucks and we tried lots of them during our 2 weeks there. Loved Polish food. You make me want to go back.
We loved Krakow too! So many great places to eat - that is an awesome and dangerous location to be located! LOL !! So many good options there! Thanks for watching! Cheers 😊
WE are so happy that we visited! Thank you and thank you for the recommendation because we definitely want to visit more of Poland and definitely to see it in the beautiful summertime! 😊
Thanks so much! We had no idea that Poland had so much to offer in the food scene! It was all so great and lots that we just didn't get to as well!! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Oh also: zapiekanka is a name for two dishes in Poland: one is for a baguette style bread sliced in half with mushrooms and cheese (and other topping but those two are basically "must have") and second one is for a casserole type of dish - mostly pasta or potatoes type. So if it's not street/fast-food type of stand but more like a restaurant you will probably get something else, which also would probably be pretty good but completely different.
Ah yes! When we Googled zapiekanka, we did get a "casserole" recipe that came up, so that explains that! Kind of wish we had tried that version as well! Next time.....
Loved the food tour. Krakow is a danger place for foodies. It's funny... We also saw some "people" eating that same polish hot dog and it looked great! We'll have to do some cameos during our next meet-up, whenever that is. Stephanie and Chris
We had so much fun doing that food tour - Krakow truly is a foodie paradise! And you're right, those Polish hot dogs are amazing! So happy those "people", Steph and Chris tried them out for us first!!! LOL!! Cheers guys!
It was honestly all so good! We didn't get to one place that we really wanted to bring you, but it only opened at 8pm and we are lame and almost ready for bed most nights by 8pm. LOL!!
@@mitchandjan Smoked cheese with cranberry jam is made by highlanders in the vicinity of Zakopane. It is a town in the mountains, two hours' drive from Krakow (trains and buses from the main station go there) to the south, on the border with Slovakia. Highlander cuisine has several specific dishes, such as kwaśnica soup or pierogi with meat or bryndza cheese . Other dinner dishes are also in the north-east of Warsaw near the border with Belarus in the region called Podlasie. There you can try the cuisine of Poles of Tatar origin (they have lived in this region since the 17th century), Lithuanian and Belarusian cuisine because Poles whose origin is from the above nations live there. The north of Poland also has a few of its own dishes because Kashubians live there. It is similar in Silesia (Katowice) because Poles of Silesian origin live there, who used to work mostly in coal mines and ironworks.
Honestly, it was a bit chill for our liking (but we knew that going in), but we went for the Christmas Market and the thermal baths nearby. It hovered around 0 degrees Celcius. We will definitely be back to Poland, but in warmer weather! LOL. Thanks for watching guys! Cheers!
We do enjoy doing our own tours, however we may have missed that delicious baked apple dessert had we been on our own and that would have been sad. We also would have included bigos and cabbage rolls AND the Blue Truck kielbasa. We may move to doing all DIY tours in the future! Thanks for watching!! 😊
To nie chleb tylko bulka . W Krakowie nazywaliśmy ją bagietką jeszcze zanim przyszły do nas bagietki z Francji . Różnią się ciastem i wielkością . Na takich bułkach robi się zapiekanki .
I love dumplings in every culture - for me it's like "uber food" - I mean above all. My favorite are savoury ones with thick filling (fine ground/minced not so much). Anyways, I hope you had a nice time while staying in Poland. Oh and fun fact for trivia: pretzels originates in Poland, not NY, It's a snack of Jewish origin but first mentions are about Polish Jews but truth to be told is that those later on moved to USA.
We agree about dumplings in every culture, it is hard to go wrong! LOL. To be honest, I thought pretzels originated in Germany, but makes sense that they originated in Poland! Another one of my favourite, simple foods from Poland! LOL. Thanks for the fun fact!! And thank you for watching!! Cheers!!
LOLOL!! We are happy that Timmie's aren't that good because we would be 40lbs heavier! 😂 Thank you so much for watching and for the nice comment!! Cheers!
Warsaw this is big modern city. More like other country than Poland. Warsaw have everything you want. Krakow this is typical medium size touristic city with many scam and traps. In Poland are better places and cities than Krakow: Wroclaw, Poznan, Gdansk or even small but beatiful Torun ( city in gothic style)...
We chose Krakow because it is a smaller city than Warsaw and was close to other places we wanted to visit, like Wroclaw (which we did not get to), Auschwitz, Zakopane AND had a Christmas market. So we have no experience in Warsaw. We definitely want to return to Poland and explore Wroclaw and Gdansk and more 😊
Food tours aren't the best. Traditional Zapiekanka without ketchup is a sin in my opinion. 👀 I'm glad you liked what you ate. It's nice to see people that try food without judging it first.
I wish they sale obwazanki (Krakowian bagels) warm, toasted or with butter, cream cheese but I think they protected by law because they are originated there 600 years ago and they can only be crafted in Krakow.
That is so interesting!! Although they are simply delicious on their own! They did have a cheese obwazanki, but the man did mention "not traditional, but popular". LOL
@@mitchandjan The first ones I remember from my childhood were either without anything, with salt and with poppy seeds. The ones with sesame seeds appeared sometime in the 1990s. Later and with cheese.

Thank you for the recommendation! We will definitely check out that place if we are in Warsaw. Fresh morning donuts would definitely be the best!! Cheers!
8:49 that zapiekanka looks like a frozen supermarket crap you buy for 0.50$ a piece(the whole thing is 4x longer), so your bite was about 0.10$ ... a proper tourist rip off and it tastes nothing like a fresh zapiekanka
Unfortunately that was part of our organized food tour too :( You are right, it resembled a supermarket quality piece. In their defence, this establishment was not expecting us. That is why we HAD to try Zapiekanka elsewhere, so that we could redeem it for us!! The fresh was so much better at Plac Nowy!!! Thank you for assuring us that we weren't being too judgy about the first zapiekanka LOL Cheers!!
I'm impressed how quiet you've been talking to yourself in the restaurants , so cultural .
As Canadians, in our culture, restaurant manners are to be quiet and respectful while dining as well. 😊
