The voice, the music, the ambiance it's like a dream. When I listen to Tom it's always like I've heard it before somewhere. Which makes me think Tom has tapped into something in the subconscious or the Akashic record. I guess the new agers would call it channeling. But the music accompanying the voice is perfect.
People used to ask me who my favorite music of all time was, and I never had an answer; it used to be whoever I was listening to at the time...that was until I discovered Tom. Now every time I get asked that question I never hesitate to say Tom Waits. It's a shame that every time I say it, no one knows who he is. Btw, this song is set as my alarm in the morning. I wake up every morning to the 'Cold Water'.
In the 60's and 70's I hitchhiked all over the country mostly by myself. This old hobo song makes an old rambler feel good.But my rambling days are over got married and settled down. Just fond (and some not so fond) memories. It ain't all fun boys and girls.

However, Waits HAS covered quite a few songs; his covers make up a tiny portion of his output, but off the top of my head, I can think of several: "Sea of Love", "What Keeps Mankind Alive", "King Kong", "Litle Man", "Return of Jackie & Judy", "It's All Right With Me", "Young At Heart", "Ain't Going Down to the Well", "I've Been Changed", "Goodnight Irene", "Heigh Ho", "Danny Says". I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can come up with at the moment.
@@pashadyne I can't speak for all of those tracks, but "What Keeps Mankind Alive?", "It's Alright With Me", and "Heigh Ho" had all been released previously on compilation/tribute albums. They are "orphans" because they don't really belong anywhere as far as his own catalog.
