Hi @martin2835. Thanks for watching. I bought my strap from BEST STRAP STORE on ali express but I just checked and they no longer seem to be available in the US market. However, I found a similar-looking strap at TEAROKER STORE, which I have bought from before. Here is a link to that similar-looking strap: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DFLN9NT
Thanks Harvind. I Really appreciate that. This new format will means fewer videos but I want the time to focus on improving my videos and (hopefully) create more insightful reviews.
My one arrived almost 2 months after the 11.11 sale. It's a great watch but not without issues. The bracelet screws are tiny and it took an awful lot of effort and patience to resize. Mine also had a lump of dirt floating around under the crystal, so I had to take the movement out to blow it out. Apart from that, it's a great looking watch. It's essentially a Zodiac dial in a Christopher Ward case - my 2 favourite brands - so I'm happy.
Great review Eric and the new format is well thought out, thanks for putting in the hard work. I totally agree that a watch on the wrist for a few weeks gives you a much better experience and is more relevant, and informative. I very much like the watch, it was transformed on the grey/orange strap IMO. It does have that summer watch feel to it. It would be interesting to hear if you regulate the watch to find it if stays a bit truer. But 12 a day is good anyway. I am looking forward to your next review. (aka weedge from WC)
Great review. I’ve had the watch for 3 weeks and somehow had not noticed the quick releases. 😂 Living north of you in Canada, I noticed the same with the lume. Wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is despite seeing positive reviews. The comfort - amazing. Easily the most comfy watch I’ve worn in a long time.
Waiting for mine to turn up. A super sea wolf to fit my skinny wrist! Its rocking the egg colours 😁 Update: it's turned up & only took a week off AliExpress to the UK. the TH-cam reviews of this watch are accurate! It's about 4 seconds a day fast according to the timegragher phone app so all good. I've got Seiko mod watches, a regular Seiko, a Tissot, Bulova etc & the value for money & specs / finishing you get from Chinese watch brands is really impressive
Thank you mitchalbott3874. I really appreciate your feedback. I just started this new two week review format so hearing you like it really means a lot.
They updated it. The dial date window is black now. And handsets are longer. Now, they need few more things done. 1) Give it a lumed date wheel 2) Add '200m WR' text (or somethig like that) so that dial doesn't feel empty 3) Make more colorways of this model. And it would be 10/10.
A big reason I bought this watch was the case being so similar to a CW lightcatcher, which I find so comfortable on my small wrist. I had the same issue with the timegrapher photo. It showed -1 sec but mine runs at -12, not too bad but I may regulate it. The only thing I would change would be put the date window at 6, otherwise I am very happy with this great watch.
Excellent review with much in depth observations of the PX 1703 by Proxima. I wear a wrist size of 7.5 and was not able to contact Proximas’s customer service to ask them how this watch may fit my 7.5 wrist size based on the watch out of the box size as it is sent to a customer. If you kindly give me your perspective as to how you may think that as the watch is made and sent out how it may fit said 7.5 wrist size. Thank you for your time and excellent channel - review. Rick in SW Florida.
@@RicardoValdes-r6w hi Rick. Thanks for watching. I thought this watch was well made and fit my 7 inch wrist really well. It should fit a 7.5 inch wrist the same. If by “out of the box” you’re asking if the bracelet will need adjusting…i always assume that to be the case. Its easy to do if you have the basic tools. That said, i wear it as a summer time watch on a 2 piece strap shown at the end of the video.
I like reviews when the watch is worn for a decent time, not all flaws show up immediately. Did you try leaving the watch in different positions at night? It may be possible to improve accuracy by trying this, but at +16 I would probably regulate it.
Hello dunderhay9169. I did not try leaving it in different positions at night. I tend to prop it up on my bedside table so I can look over in the early morning and see how much longer I can stay in bed. 😄
Thank you for taking so much time to thoroughly review this watch. It is impressive that this Proxima has made a few improvements over the Zodiac. Realistically, I would not pay that much for an homage watch. Why not just put in a Seiko movement and bring the cost down? Is the PT3000 that much better?
Hi georgrchau6800. I believe one of the main benefits of the PT5000 movement is how thin it is. I’m not sure if Seiko has an affordable movement at the same thickness. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Good question. I don’t know. Given how far it travelled i suppose a lot could have happened in transit. I never thought about that. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
@@Time4Life321 I just put any mechanical watch that arrives in the post through the demagnetiser on general principles; then I put it on the timegrapher. All the movements run more than acceptably - except for Vostoks, but they're very easy to regulate! I've just bought a PX 1703 in the Anniversary sale; chose the SW 200 movement - cost about $355 in rubles, and it should come with the on - the - fly adjustment clasp everyone's talking about. One last thing: how about the Proxima chat person (?) calling you "dear" ? If that's not good customer service , I don't know what is. Hope you're having a great weekend, Eric. Cheers 🍻!
I love my PX1697, Proxima's CW65 clomage. A watch so nice i bought it twice (11.11 sales consecutive yrs., one to wear on straps and ine to keep on iem brac.- its quick *release* but the endlinks are so well-machined that it is nigh impossible to get the links back in while squeezing the bars 😣) This i e looks every bit the1697's peer/equal and absolutely worth all 200-300 USD
This model actually doesn't give me Zodiac vibe. Of course I see the similarity, but apart from the color scheme, that's about it. It seems a lot more wearable too. It's a more comfortable case, especially with that L to L, it's an issue for me on the Zodiac with its rather straight lugs. The date is meh, no date or date at 6 would be cool! Great concept and great review 👍
Excellent review on a very good watch. It wears beautifully. I find that the date really does ruin the symmetry of the dial more than most, so no date window would have improved it a lot. However, one omission on the review: no mention of the origin of the case design, which is, of course, the Christopher Ward “light catcher” case.
Great review, would it be possible to share link for the 2 piece grey nylon strap you showed in the review ?

@@Time4Life321 Thank you very much, really like the look combo with the Proxima.
After owning a Proxima I can vouch that they are a very well built brand, this is further proof, great vid Eric thank you
How are they compared to San Martin
What an incredible video, Eric! Love the format, keep these coming.
The watch is not bad either. 😉

Happy New Year Eric. Great work.
I've ordered this and the store sent me the pictures of the watch I will receive. It has a signed crown now!
That was helpful 👍thank you. The quality looks good 🎉

I wish it was made without a date =/
I agree. On automatic watches, I’m starting to prefer them without a date.
I have one and love it but if the date was at 6 rather than 3 it would look better
Anyone tried the new bracelet with on the fly micro adjustment?
The “original” is either a Zodiac, or a Christopher Ward C63 Sealander Automatic, depending on whether you focus on the dial, or the case shape.
I would rather pick nh35 than pt5000
I bought one of these from Proxima but I've never seen one. Never received the watch. And they kept the MONEY !!!!
It has diamonds on the hands
The Sellita version is $399, which is not $30 more.
Sorry about that. You are correct. It’s $399. In my head I was thinking of $299 for some reason. My mistake.
