Its not a Miyota movement inside, its a Casio module "5507", which is a Seiko-Epson VX65E. 99% of all Edifices are using Epson movements. I have the black leather (BL) variant, and the movement has the "No jewels S. Epson Corp. VX65E" text on the panel. Im using it for the third year now, and the leather strap is the weakpoint. But I really like this watch. Thanks for the review!

Journalistic integrity. The 6105 8110 cannot be described as a "turtle" a forerunner perhaps, but released in 1968 it predates te Turtle by 9 years. Pedantic perhaps but if you're going to review watches, even Chinese homage watches a few mins research is a good idea. Repeating the mistakes of others especially in the first sentence will cast doubt on anything else you say.. personally I would say that the Addiesdive while representing decent value and capturing the Willard essence, is howevera mediocre homage. For those seeking the most authentic possible Willard experience, still at a very reasonable price, seek out Rdunae's Rx2, there are discrepancies from the original, high polished hour indexes borders and the seconds hand's red dot are probably the most obvious but don't really distract from the overall experience. It has a domed sapphire crystal with clear AR coating in place of the originals domed Hardlex, uncoated. The aluminium bezel insert is period correct and goes a long way to give the watch a period look. It also has very white lume as found on the Seiko 6105 8110, a small detail that goes a long way to give the Rx2 an authentic look. The 19mm lugs of the original are also present (alas so is a rather hard resin strap) but it's possible to find 19mm fkm waffle/tropical straps although they are a little more expensive. 19mm bracelets are also easy to come by these days. For those searching for the essence of the iconic Captain Willard, look no further.

If only they'd made it a white dial. The silver looks awful in person in comparison to the photos.

Good review, but I was surprised to hear you call this a "dress watch." Technically this isn't a dress watch, it's a somewhat dressy "sports watch", a category that includes the Rolex Datejust, etc. What are called "dress watches" are watches one would wear in the evening, perhaps with a tuxedo and are usually smaller, without a date complication, leather strapped, and often without a second hand. I'm not saying this watch isn't on the dressy side, for a sports watch, but I wouldn't consider it a dress watch.

Hey Eric- thx! Tiffany blue in basket (along with a wm, specht n sone, etc etc) for 11/11. Blk. Croco leather strap is what this watch needs as that will make the tiff really pop🎉

There is nothing wrong with the bracelet and 21 mm straps are ten a penny, they have been for years. Cettainly since before TH-cam even started in 2007. Why do TH-camrs thinks its an issue... Bizarre.

Why in the world would anyone care what the packaging is like? Just something you will end up tossing out. Best bargain in watch s out there. Have the black and have the all blue ordered.

I have had this watch for one month (with Polar dial and Montreux strap) and It is my go-to watch! My Sinn and Grand Seiko Spring Drive are very jealous! A great field watch!

I own several watches ranging from Timex Casio bulova Elgin and Seiko I prefer the more premium brands but the timex is just as serviceable as my 300 to 500 dollar bulovas or seiko watches. no meed to hate them the are good affordable watches that if you break them you don't have to worry about ruining a near irreplaceable item.

This watch was quite well discounted right when it came out. As for flaws, there are many, but the endlinks don't qualify IMO - several Daytonas have an endlink that doesn't look well matched. I can see the lack of micro-adjust being an issue, but for me it's the heavily recessed date, which looks like a design problem they just didn't care to address, even on the newest generation of the Speedtimer.

I find the bezel absolutely impossible to turn without puttimg my nail in the deep notches that are placed at every tenth minute on the bezel.

The bracelet is not ill-fitting it is the style of it and Seiko are not the only one doing it now it's a form Style

It's a nice watch, I haven't bought one, yet, I still can't get over the date, why would you do that? Reference the 6138's Seiko.

I have this watch and it is very good. I ditched the pass through strap though and put it on leather. It's heavy, which I like.

It's weird to me that people whine about having a 24 hour subdial, but are quite happy with a moon phase.

I agree with you about the strap completely. I love the watch, I bought it 3 weeks ago from Japan for my bday. The 24hr hour dial should be an alarm like my 90s seiko chronograph with tachometer.

I love the case, the movement. I'm even ok with the bracelet, but the dial is very busy.

I bought one of these with the plan to immediately replace the strap with a NATO.

Some of my watches are San Martins and I love the quality of them but some at the time of purchase had the option of a high beat movement, either Sellita or PT5000. For $230 I would expect a PT5000 to be in there. Great review, thumbs up.

2024 and they're still using pin & collar. Pathetic. No wonder companies such as San Martin are slaughtering Seiko for quality and specifications. And value!

Japanese Orient site refers to these as Kamasu Gen II,,, but I like Ray III as well , that would make sense as the Mako III line

They updated it. The dial date window is black now. And handsets are longer. Now, they need few more things done. 1) Give it a lumed date wheel 2) Add '200m WR' text (or somethig like that) so that dial doesn't feel empty 3) Make more colorways of this model. And it would be 10/10.
