This was an interesting video, jazakAllahu Khairan. I've summarized my understanding of your presentation as follows - inshaAllah its of benefit to others.
Modern and postmodern views on "discourse" often argue that human subjectivity limits our access to objective truth, as individuals' perspectives and biases shape communication. In contrast, demonstrative logic, especially in its modern symbolic form, seeks to minimize subjective interpretation by focusing on formal, universally valid reasoning.
Mawla Taha حفظه الله, drawing on the Kalam tradition and Munazara, uses modern symbolic logic to show that despite language's inherent subjectivity, discourse can be systematically analyzed and mapped to a logical framework. By identifying the generalizable features of discourse, Taha demonstrates that each claim has a finite number of potential reasonable and relevant responses, and these responses can (or will) eventually terminate to a valid logical conclusion, almost like a game of chess.
This approach shows that discourse, although language-bound, can still arrive at objective truth when framed within the structures of demonstrative reasoning, and the knowledge production that results from it will be necessary to derive a coherent "Islamic Modernity" to combat the vapid void left due to postmodernism.
