Losi should stop with the 1/16 JRX nonsense and just give us 1/10 rere kit. All the retro race classes/meetings that are springing up are crying out for this. Associated should do another run of gold pans too. We need these cars!

Yea...the Jrx2 spur had a few miles on it. Everything was smooth and free tranny wise (should have spring for a new spur gear...lol). Both cars ran great for sure. Loads of fun and I ran them till the sun went down that day. Appreciate it bud!

I restored my old jrx2 a few years ago and upgraded it handled a light brushless motor. Omg, what difference to drive it with a newer radio controller verse the old crystals. Back in the day, I graduated from racing a Hornet, and this smashed the tracks when it arrived.

My dad killed his Jrx2 back in the day, he hit a tree full speed and that put it in retirement. We still have it, works perfectly fine just needed new ‘A’ arms and it was back in business.
He paid kids money to fix it on the track back in the day
He didn’t notice the 5-link suspension was removed when he bought it, it was the main selling point of it, but it has carbon fiber chassis

What an awesome shootout! Really enjoyed watching both cars go around the track. They sure are quick! I don’t know much about Losi so this is a very insightful video. The 5 point suspension on the red JRX2 looks awesome. I think Tamiya’s upcoming BBX buggy uses a similar setup.

@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC the under bulkhead bumper came out first , was around the time of the Jrx2.

This is pretty awesome for us RC geeks that grew up in the '90s. Thanks for putting it all together. As you've mentioned, I get the sense that your jumps are too small for cars like these and a little too much for the less capable vintage stuff. Maybe a little bit of throttle blip over the top of the ramp to get the nose up will help save parts.

Going to tame things down for the plastic fantastic cars for sure. Not sure if we will do a total reset (have some borderline cars that are just tipping the "pro" level scale) but we will do our best to keep things interesting 👍

Cool vid! I love vintage Losi stuff and having run a 5-link JRX2 on carpet and high bite clay, it can be a handful. lol It's a lot of fun to actually race the old buggies again though 👍

    • @VINTAGEBACKYARDRC

@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC the 5-link was amazing when it first came out. Tire technology started to change so quickly that it didn't last long but it was great for a while. I was surprised when I raced at the Kinwald Klassic last year in Vintage class how well the car held up. I broke a stock (30+ year old) turnbuckle, though that was my fault, and that was it. Great little buggy!

Proper loves watching that video Jim :) to me the Pro looked mega quick down the straight and into the left handed and first jump. The 5 link looked better In I field due to its shorter wheelbase . Not much in it but the spec the Pro could carry probably was the different. My opinion only. Either way what a video!
