    My Java fern tip is turning brown, and some are turning translucent
    It has good lighting, pressurized CO2 setup, daily dosing of all in one fert ( tropica ), 6 hours lighting period
    Only other plant is Anubis in tank

    You mention light and nutrient parameters as important growth factors. I was waiting to hear mention of water pH. My experience over many years is that melt can be dramatic for some plants in a high pH environment. Soft water, pH 7.0, with less frequent water changes seems ideal, added driftwood as you show, enhances growth further. The fish I keep require water pH around 7.8-8.0 and Java Ferns simply do not thrive here.

    I had an entire 55 gallon tank stocked with anubais from my emersed set up. One by one they just melted over a couple of week. I never saw anything like it. I think it may have been some kind of disease. I only get algae on anubias if the light is to intense. Also if ferts are balanced I hardly get algae. I found the keys to keeping anubais algae free are low light intensity, high plant density, and balanced ferts. In a low light aquarium anubias use very little nutrients so having a lot of plants helps out complete algae. I keep a lot of crypts with anubais. Also in an aquarium anubias get most of their nutrients from the water column. Substrates with a high cec rob the water column of nutrients. It's good for root feeders but not so much for anubias. Are you using black flourite in your anubias tank? I found anubais do best with plain gravel or sand. In my anubias show tank I dose NPK and Flourish Comprehensive and I do a 50% water change a week. My crytps and anubias grow like gangbusters. I hardly have any algae. The key is healthy dense plant growth will out compete algae once the tank is dialed in. I've been growing anubias for 12 years. I'm not saying my way is the only way but this is just what I've experienced.

      @@HnegbztjbxwqV What are you growing and what size tank? I'll try to help explain your set up.

    • @wantsome-zs5sq
      @wantsome-zs5sq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HnegbztjbxwqV Sounds like you're doing everything right. Cut your lights down to six hours a day. Make sure you have a lot of plants. Stuff as many as you can into the tank. If you're getting algae. Use some wax paper under the light to lower the intensity. Anubias don't need a lot of nutrients. I've had anubias survive for months in plastic bag with nothing but the ambient light from the room. The more light you give plants the more they demand nutrients and co2. Also make sure you don't have any organic build up (oil slick) on the water surface. If so add something to agitate the water surface.

    • @wantsome-zs5sq
      @wantsome-zs5sq 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HnegbztjbxwqV Just to give you an idea of what I'm running. I have a 55 gallon full of anubias. I using a fluval fresh plant 3.0 light. I can control the brightness. I have it dialed down to only 15% brightness and I have 3 sheets of wax paper under it. My lights are only on 6 hours a day. I have a small air stone to agitate the surface. It's good to make keep the surface of the water clear for atmospheric exchange in the tank. If you need a reset to clean algae bleach your anubias. 20 parts water 1 part bleach. Soak them for no more then 2 minutes. There's directions of how to do it online. Some say 5 mintute soak you only need 2 minutes for algae. My plants only put out 1 leaf a week. I also dose dry ferts NPK but in your size tank you probably don't need it. I do a 50% water change a week.

    Thanks for your video. I was hoping to see more of your transition tank. How do you setup the plants in your transition tank before submerging into the main tank? Do you fill up with water partially to cover the roots and rhizome and leave the leaves out of the water? or let water till half way of the stems? Please advice.

    • @AquariumPlantLab
      @AquariumPlantLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say transition tank which one are you referring to? I normally just go straight from emersed propagation to submerged (What I did with all these plants). I don’t do a middle step and I don’t think that’s necessary either 👍

    If I put Anubias cuttins into an airtight container with an inch of water at the bottom, so leaves are emersed, will the water/airtight container create enough humidity within the container for the Anubias to be fine? The container will be kept at room temperature (around 20c) so there's no additional heatsource to increase the rate of evaporation.
    PS, I know I didn't mentioned lights/gas exchange/fertilization -I've got a pretty good idea I know what I'm doing there, but I know Anubias requires high humidity to grow emersed and wasn't sure if an airtight container with an inch of water would be able to adequately achieve this.
