Ariel rules the Carinae sea, The sea waters here are warm and crystal clear
Mala rules the Chaine Sea. These sea waters are filled with islands, shallows, and islets.
Karina rules the Saithe Sea. The sea waters here are typically clothed in ice.
Indira rules the Brinedive Sea. The sea waters of the gulf is shallow, sunny, and warm.
Perla rules the Piton Sea. The sea waters here are temperate and very deep,
Tamika rules the Fracus Sea. These sea waters are clear and sunlit, teeming with vibrant fish and coral.
And Caspia rules Apneic Sea. It is an inland Sea between Euporia and Saas. The waters are brackish and murky, with rocky islands and sometimes ice.

This change is probably the worse change for me. The older sisters ruling their respective seas, at this point, I'm fine with. It would create a good dynamic when she talks to her sisters. Much like in the prequel film.
But the younger ones? Especially Ariel?
This basically is worse than their lie about her gving up her voice for a man.
She basically abandons and neglects her duties and responsibilities to go on adventures and to go to the human world.
And I thought the kiss contract when Ariel and Eric apparently don't have a crush with each other was a bad plot hole.
Seriously, if this was the case, change the conditions, and FULLY SCRAP the "Kiss the girl" song if that's the case.
This addition just makes Ariel look like a terrible role model.

@@HINOBI2047 Context matters though. The point of these additions and changes is to EXPAND on the story that we already know. Similar to the others.
They NEVER said these were a LOOSE adaptations of the original. The main plot points are mostly intact.
Many changes they do, barely affect the over all story. But THREE of them, in this particular film, are as dangerous in ruining it as the Qi and self reveal of Mulan or the teleportation book in Beauty and The Beast.
One, is the fact that they are telling us Ariel basically has a job, where her absence will negatively affect the livelihoods of THOUSANDS.
And, now, they're sharing on Kiss the girl. And it doesn't take a genius to see the issue of the scene. And how bad switching, who leans in and who pulls away, is in this situation.
Her sisters were barely in the original movie. What are you talking about. She always been selfish and only thought about what she wanted because she's 16 yo. What movie were you watching 😂

The biggest responsibility she had, back then, was the concert. Which she didn't attend. Even the rehearsals, base on Sebastian.

And they expect us to like her, when they show that she neglects her duties to attain human artifacts?
Which is even worse when you realize that she leaves her sea leaderless for several days, with NO WARNING, to be in the human world.
And apparently Ursula hid the fact that Ariel has three days to kiss someone to make permanent. So Ariel believes she's permanently human.
So now she basically abandoned her territory completely leaderless.
The more you think about it the worse it becomes.
i think "rule" is a misnomer. The sisters REPRESENT the seven seas, and are atheistically designed in reference to them. Triton is the ruler of all the Seven Seas.
I can sort of understand this with Triton ruling the entire ocean, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they never address that fact in the movie

1. sharkanian kingdom (merfolk based on sharks)
2. Eel-take merfolk
3. Manta merfolks (which I called scat people, because I thought English word for manta is scat)
4. Olympia (Prince Thor was supposed to be Ariel partner in sport)
5. Octopans people (Ursula and others)
6. Mervikings from Valhalla

The animated movie changes up the story from the original book. Stop picking a choosing. People complain about the Disney live action movies being 1-1 remakes to the animated but when they change things, people will then complain that things are changed.

I actually like the idea! All the daughters leading different seas is an interesting concept. But I don't think it works for this story. Ariel really left the sea she was supposed to protect for a man? Ruins her entire motivation. It would've been a lot cooler of the just made a whole new story using this concept.

Disney making the 7 sisters different races and color pallets only to make all of them dolls sold separately is the petty market strategy you can only expect from Disney 💀 but it was well played.
I know there are other things to talk about, but I *died* laughing at how robbed Caspia is with that territory. XDDD "Brackish and murky, with rocky islands and sometimes ice." Yeah, I'm sure it's every mermaid's dream to live in dark, cloudy, extra salty water where the main attractions are rocks and ice. Ariel and Tamika have crystal-clear seas full of sunlight and gorgeous fish/coral/islands, and then you have Caspia with her nasty salty pool of misery.

Ariel is written by a danish writer but she has a Greek background, King triton is her father the son of the Greek God Poseidon ruler and commander of the seas as well King Tritons trident that as well in Greek mythology is their weapon historically . That makes Halle’s Ariel being half Greek half black and basically is what is going on with the rest of the sisters . In Ancient Greek history and mythology very often Triton and Poseidon would depicted as mermen specially as they mostly roamed the ocean or when that was given for description in certain appearances in Greek mythology .

I like they all rule their race country. Not segregated at all….
They tried changing the whole movie into a whole new universe. And we still dont know how to feel about it.
just see it as a new version, in the 90's there was a little mermaid cartoon where she could get out of the water whenever she wanted, pretty much dated the prince who knew she was a mermaid and the sea witch just was an enemy, not her dad's rival for ruling the sea.
they all look way older than Ariel, Ariel is young and cute
