The Texas storm was a nightmare! My octopus 🐙 died and I lost my saltwater tank. I lost everything but 1 clown fish! It was so devastating! Honestly I still have not even recovered! I know I’m not the only one and I know others who have lost more but it was still heartbreaking! 💯
I wrapped my tank in comforters and did two warm water changes a day to keep it warm. We went 4 days without power. Definitely got lucky my lil guys survived!
There's this old man who really loves his goldfish, so he has a separate bowl in a cart (he made it a lot better and safer than I'm making it sound) and takes a walk with the fish almost every day. I remember seeing a picture of it somewhere, but the fish shows joy and eagerness for these walks, even though it's going from a nice aquarium to the stereotypical bad fishbowl. Mainly because it's temporary.
Texas native here. My tank survived. My block only had intermittent blackouts. Other people had a full week of no power. At least our power came on a few minutes a day and our house is insulated so my tank didn't get too cold.
I HIGHLY recommend getting some isopods (Rollie pollies/pill bugs) for it! You can get some really pretty ones, but I recommend either Dairy cows or just normal 'wild' ones because they breed fast. I do not recommend getting them from the ACTUAL wild because they can make the animal sick if they eat it, which they probably will
When i visited my aunts house in Washington, i found out she had a betta. I already knew it was gonna be rough and then i saw its "tank". It was being kept in a container that was maybe 8 oz. Smaller than a glass of water. The poor thing couldn't even turn around. The water was yellow and it had garish pink and blue pebbles taking up what little space it had. I wanted to badly to rescue the little thing but my aunt just looked at me confused when i was appalled with her bettas living situation. Honestly i hope the thing died so that it got put out of its misery
We had a baby snapping turtle we rescued. We gave it proper care until it was large enough to be released. Hope you are living a nice life in the river Snappy! ☺️🐢
That big freeze in Texas was crazy, my cousin had a real hard time keeping her chameleon alive and well. She's had to break down her fish tank and start over too, very sad. But she's going to get some bioactive substrate and try to plant it for the first time instead of using silk plants
Is that "normal" goldfish actually a koi? Besides being overfed and probably stunted, the head shape and body proportions don't look like a goldfish to me.

I'm watching this video and it makes me feel bad most of my banks are set up okay but I do have a silver arowana in 130 gallon tank I've been meaning to move I live in Ontario not exactly a good basement to move to not many landlords are too keen on someone like me moving in with fish would be willing to re-home it someone close by who had a big tank but don't got the patience to post it just keep doing maintenance keep the water good the fish is 23 in Long in a 6ft long tank it's terrible
& that is why I don't have a turtle indoors anymore... I wish i, as well as others, would research before getting a pet of any kind before buying. I, like many others, did not know about the other kind of lighting a turtle NEEDS to grow/live a healthy life, & if we can't afford to get the right lighting for it, maybe we shouldn't have one? Or at least in doors?.. Mine is outside in my backyard pond, and has been living happy & healthy for a few yrs now, good luck to everyone.

My dad has a tank with a filter, and he refuses to do water changes because the "water is clear" and "only people that don't have filters need to do water changes" He can't gravel vac it because "the only reason the gravel is there, is for the fish to poop in" what should I tell him without making him mad?

If I had a chameleon, I’d have to house it in a bio active enclosure because I would worry that I would never be able to see it due to its ability to completely match its background. This way, I’d never had to clean it or feed it or interact with it in any way at all and could just completely ignore it. I could just keep the whole thing in a cupboard. Maybe I could even manage owning four or five of them if I take this route.
