- Welcome to Ian Mac Woodturning! In this weeks turning video I used a piece from an old Plum Tree that was chopped down, this piece had been eaten up by woodlouse, termites and all sorts of bugs. It was a bit of a project but we got there in the end!

Great projects
Thanks!
I really love the wood grain in this project. It turned it great! Thanks for the video.
Thanks Jen! Hope you're doing good!
What an amazing result.
Gorgeous. I love the grain. It reminds me of a sunset. 💞💓💞
Haha thanks Kim! I can see what you mean, there are some nice colours in there.
It is so beautiful. To be honest, I didn't have much hope for that hunk of wood. You did an excellent job.👍👍
I'll be honest, I didn't have 100% faith part way through haha
Came out really nice Ian 👍🏻
Great job as usual, thanks for sharing!
Cheers Umberto!
Wooo! That’s beautiful! ❤
Thanks Beverly!
wonderful outcome indeed ! the Termite logs give a touch of dramatic lol !👍🙏Thank you
Haha something a little different!
Beautiful work
Cheers mate
Is this wood dried or still green? How will the humidity affect the product in long time?
Still a little green, I tend to keep the wetter pieces in cooler places to dry gradually. If it cracks and falls apart then I may re-turn it or could throw it away. It seems to be holding up alright.
Reminds me of that old expression: "But will it hold water?"
It will.. not for very long but it will..
very original , i like it .
Thank you very much!
Wow cool, the holes were a nice feature in the end
Thanks Ben!
Url... I can only imagine the time that it would have taken to remove the debris out of those holes before the first coat of sealer. Nice piece though.
That turned out, absolutely beautiful!
Thanks Lynda!
Viel Arbeit, sehr schön geworden
Danke!
Very beautiful Ian.
Thanks Jack!
Lovely work mate, beatiful shape and love the finsh - all the best, great to watch!

Very very nicer done
Thanks Rich! Hope you're doing well.
My goodness, the bug holes are huge! They create a beautiful effect though. Very nice piece!
Thanks Gwynn!
Great job on this one one mate 👌
Cheers Bill! Hope you're well mate
Where did the termites go? Did you have to remove them?
I warmed them up in a microwave I use especially for wood haha, I then turned the wood so there probably are little specs of bugs in my workshop
Very nice hollow form.
Cheers Doug!
I have a question 1st. Did you kill all the termites before you took that piece of wood into your shop. You did a gorgeous piece of work.
Thanks Judith! I did kill them prior to bringing the wood in haha, would be a nightmare to have them in there with all the wood!
Another gorgeous piece Ian.
The voids and inclusions add so much to this one.
How wet was it as the shavings looked quite wet.
Take care mate.
Cheers, Huw
Cheers Huw! It was pretty wet to be fair, seems to be holding up alright so far so fingers crossed!
whats the stain your using
To be honest: I think it is ugly because of the damage the wood has suffered from the termites and bugs. I would have appreciated using epoxy. But that is just my opinion.
Fair enough haha
