- This project was commissioned by a subscriber as a gift to his wife. She loved the black and gold epoxy bowl I had made half a year back and wanted one for herself. They wanted me to keep to the black and gold colour scheme and use the same wood as before, Ash.
The piece has been sanded and buffed to 10000 grit. It is always difficult to get epoxy to a perfect finish, but this one has a glassy reflection... lovely.

And Yes, I'm aware that wearing gloves while woodturning is considered an unsafe practice. The gloves I wear are tight-fitting and don’t have any loose threads. I wear them for the protection of my skin. This is a risk that I am willing to take, however I am still very conscious of the potential danger and I do not touch any spinning parts of the lathe. I like the choice of wood, and a wood-like epoxy for the rim. It got me quite intrigued. Because your title got me to go to the end first, to see if I loved it or hated it! In the end it’s neither mate. I’d say your skill in bringing out the hidden beauty in wood is second to none. That was done here, so good on you. But not my favourite piece of yours. There are dozens which have taken my breath away, as I have told you! This one is good too, but not quite up to that level to my eyes. But taste is very personal, and there are plenty of comments which show that it is top beauty to many others.

It's quite nice, although the thumbnail image barely represented any part of the finished bowl. Very nice wood grain coming out and the resin fits well in the edge of the bowl. If you do another similar bowl, perhaps there would be a way to make the gold resin blend a little with the black and gold resin a bit better, the almost straight and level change was expected, although slightly boring. The overall look of the bowl made up for this, though! 😊👍👍

this is fine, almost >zero< artistic error. This was totally something you can pay for. And if you try you will get it sold. In the last camera shot the south east part of the picture is really nice but the wood piece in the upper left is .... hmmmm .... no ..... not great ..... so maybe sell the piece at half price?

This isn't a commission request, but have you heard of the yin and yang symbol? Perhaps you can find white and black wood that can be cut to represent the symbol, and then wood turn that into a piece of art work?

Beautiful piece but the last thing we need is more plastic. Hate the idea of resins. Plastics are forever and are poisoning the Earth.
