    • @nikolademitri731
      @nikolademitri731 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cduby1424 you mostly have nothing to worry about addiction wise, but it’s not like it has zero addictive effects. Pretty much any drug (speaking broadly, not just Rx or illicit substances) taken long enough will rewire your body chemistry to the point that, without that drug, your body isn’t in homeostasis, and you’ll have withdrawal symptoms. In my experience with diphenhydramine, the only noticeably bad withdrawal symptom was that I had a very hard time falling asleep for a few nights after I finally stopped taking it, and so that pushed me to try other options. Don’t take it for anymore than a few days at a time, and you’ll be fine.
      Really, they’re not joking when they say to limit the use of diphenhydramine. Take it seriously, because I didn’t, and it ended up having serious side effects: nothing life threatening to my knowledge, but it absolutely effected me cognitively and neurologically after taking it for a few months as a sleep aid. I now only take it no more than once a week, usually on days where I stop taking something else (melatonin, etc) for a day or two to lower my tolerance. Good luck.

    Diphenhydramine is a strong drug! It is used in surgery to potentate narcotic effects. It is addictive and I can vouch for that. Only way off this drug is a very slow taper. I don’t drink or do any other medications, but I look forward to diphenhydramine at night for its sedative effects. It does cause restless leg syndrome for half an hour, then it is gone and replaced with sleepyness.
