Come train with us in Vietnam Camp! www.mmashredded.com/jordanmmaretreat
the camp looks so good butfor people outside USA Ithink it is so expensive!! I will continue watching the videos :) thank you :)
the 'mini-suplex' is what I've learned as a simple "Mat return". I believe this is the actual term
Jordan has an unnatural talent to download opponents and react before they even process what’s happening.
Thanks man! I feel like it's one of my best attributes as a grappler. I always try to to attack on their weaknesses rather than impose my strengths. Which has led to being comfortable everywhere and having a wide repertoire to teach to everyone :)
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu are you gonna demo how to do that lmao. I'm trying to figure out what my coaches weaknesses are
It's a tough thing to teach. The reason I've got good at it I think is a couple reasons.
1. Anytime something goes wrong for me, I always try to figure out why and adapt for next time. It's difficult to catch me twice. Although I do just fine against people the first roll, always the second roll is more dominate as I can so quickly figure them out and adapt to anything that went wrong in the first roll.
2. I've always gone through periods of time where I specialize in one area, and then move on to another once I feel I've mastered it. Meanwhile many stick to specializing in one area, and/or stick to their strengths. Leg locks are a good example. I went through probably 4-5 months as a brown belt where all I did was leg locks then moved on to something else. But many nowadays many will specialize in leg locks, and just stick with that.
3. I'm lucky to have a pretty "sensitive" body in the sense that I can feel the smallest of movements and predict what my opponent is trying to do. This has also come from grappling so long. But even before grappling when I played soccer I could always keep the ball at my feet very well because I could feel so well where it was with my feet. Many athletic skills like this aren't talked about or thought of when talking about athleticism but to me it's on my best attributes as an athlete.
Just my interpretation of how I've developed this skill :)
@JordanTeachesJiujitsu that third reason is actually pretty specific and unique. When did you realize you had that sensitivity?
@@juliushoward9606 A long time ago. When I played soccer people used to always tell me my feet were like magnets. It was always really difficult for them to take away the ball because I could just feel so well where the ball was with my feet. Which is something I still hear often in grappling. That my feet are like hands.
This may also sound weird but I've heard theres a correlation between being ticklish and having a sensitive body/skin. And I am very ticklish as are all my kids. I tickle them all the time because 1, I enjoy it, and 2, I view it as training their sensitivity.
Jeff mentioned in the MMA session on his channel that my timing and sensitivity are next level. Which I really appreciated him noticing, and saying. I also think it's why I have the style that I have. I rarely hold people down and smash, instead I transition based off how they react and have the sensitivity to react quicker than they can execute.
Awesome man. Great content and you are very dominant! Jeff is no joke and you make it look so easy. I am thoroughly impressed by both of you.
Thanks man! Jeff is really underrated as a grappler. He is really good. Super skilled martial artist in general and truly a martial artist more so than a fighter. Which I like to consider myself as as well :)
Being bigger and stronger is a big factor for any sport. Great technique.
Very true! Thanks :)
Jeff is a high level Brown Belt, but this roll shows that capitalizing on initial mistakes (e.g., head placement) that most people let go allows you to quickly sub people. This prevents them from using the slick portions of their games whether it's scrambling, leg locks, etc.
Exactly. Often good grapplers look worse than they are against me because I capitalize so much on the smallest mistakes then it's all down hill from there. The smallest of mistakes can make such a huge difference and people get away with them in training against the average guy but against a good black belt you can't make those mistakes.
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu True!
Great material! Thanks to Jordan and Jeff. A lot to process and digest but definitely help to improve your Jiu Jitsu. Keep them coming 👍🏻🙏🏻
Another gem. And nothing you do is crazy hard. It gives this 40 year old purple belt hope.
Thanks man! Exactly. My game is nearly all fundamentals. Everything I do can be done by anyone. You will get there :)
I love Jo’s channel. He deserves so many more subscribers. So glad to hear you doing a collab and he’ll get some more exposure!
Awesome roll Jordan and great action from MMAShredded too! I get myself rewinding and playing in slow motion a lot of your moves to learn something!
Great video! Thanks Jordan and Jeff, your training camp sounds awesome by the way!
YES!!! This is the roll I have been waiting for!!!!
Awesome content as per Jordan..super intrigued about this joint venture seminar in Vietnam too! 😁👊
Great commentary, thanks. I like the way you've started to do the audio a little ahead of the video, so I have time to process what you said and then see the technique afterwards.
Thanks man! I feel like now I'm really coming into my own in terms of content creation. I got popular on youtube before I knew what I was doing haha. The videos are much better polished now :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsuE realmente você está muito bom em produzir conteúdo irmão. Seus vídeos são ótimos. E uma dúvida: É você mesmo quem edita os vídeos?
6:56 Joe Breza is a fantastic grappler, and such a great wrestling mind. I'm glad you're doing a Collab with him.
Both of you gentleman are humble and outstanding martial artists which make your videos so much better to watch!
Thanks man!! That's really what I aspire to be. A martial artist first and foremost, over a "fighter" or "grappler." There's a huge difference imo :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu 100%. I have learned so much by studying different styles over the years and keeping an open mind.
"I love going the path of least resistance". It is the main principle I've been focusing on. Great vid!
Yet another great rolling commentary! Brilliant, thanks!
Thanks! 🙏
Great teaching! Thx Brother
Thanks man 👊
Love this!!!
Enjoy watching you both, but this crossover, damn, goats. Great work
Thanks man! Two Canadian content creators linking up :)
This video alone is soooo rich that demands instant respect, subs, likes, and shares. Thank you Sir.
Mini suplex, we call that “mat return” In wrestling. Great video!
Amazing commentary on your technique, as always!
Thanks man!! Can't wait to meet up in a few weeks :)
As someone who trains with Joe, and binges Jordan, this colab is so freaking cool
@@mercerpatterson6290 hey man!! I am so sad that you are moving away. You are an excellent training partner.
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 We still got some time! It’s been a pleasure training and learning from you as well!
@@mercerpatterson6290 yeah man!! Let’s make a solid effort to work on your wrestling, so that you can take that with you!
Awesome man!!!
🙏👊
I usually follow your and I am Vietnamese as well. Perfectly when you come Vietnam, hope can meet you.
I hope so too!
I hope you and Jeff can do more seminars in the future. May not be able to attend this upcoming one although I really want to
is this a reupload? I swear I watched you roll with him before. In any case, super slick and it's great to see two of my favourite youtubers having a great time
Fantastic analysis video.
I think I have heard those “mini suplexes” referred to in wrestling as “mat returns”, although I am going only by memory of a sport I have very limited experience with.
Thanks man! My wrestling lingo may be incorrect but to me a mat return is more so when you have a body lock on your opponent in turtle, and they stand up, and you return them to the mat. So in that case an actual suplex could be considered a mat return. But again, don't trust my wrestling lingo lol. I only did pure wrestling for 9 months when I was a white belt. Since then I've just picked up wrestling through training, learning online, and trial and error :)
That’s what I’ve always heard it called, too! 🫡
Two of the best!
Thank you!
That back take concept is cool
Great vid!
Thanks!
I love your work. If my nephew ever gets into bjj I will send him your way! He lives in Brighton, Ontario. He enjoys hockey right now, but martial arts will provide some more discipline 😊
Great roll
Dude. Joe is awesome, I can't believe you guys are teaming up!
Thanks man! I was blown away when I started watching his channel. We definitely share very similar ideas towards grappling. The perfect duo to make this course :)
6:28 - I've found success from this spot by using the near arm (the one Jordan is posting with) to scoop under the head for the cross-face, then using that and the opposite side underhook to turn the head, flip my partner, and take the back. I usually end up with like 80% of a choke, as well.
Yes finally. Jozef Chen just visit Vietnam last week. Now good news from Jordan. See you soon ❤❤❤
Can't wait to roll!
Great duo.
Thanks! Jeff's the man :)
Great video.
Still amazing content. SO excited just moved to a city with decent BJJ.
This is nice!
He is now BJJ black belt congrats Jeff:)
awesome vid! Next time you're at GB Ottawa, would love to train together
Hey Jordan! Great video as usual. About the retreat and retreats in general: do you feel like there is a minimum level of skill or experience to truly benefit from these types of retreats?
Thanks man! I don't think there's a minimum level needed really. I don't teach or even do very much "advanced" jiujitsu. My game is routed in fundamentals and everything I'll be teaching is equally important for beginners as it is to advanced grapplers. Beginners need to learn the technique, and advanced grapplers need to get the details perfectly nailed down.
I think the only Channel that can tackle the unmade video of how lower belts can deal with someone being Super Aggressive and going 200% while positional rolling not just stuffing takedowns.
Nice 💪🏾
Excelente conteúdo irmão. Fiquei impressionado com a facilidade que você lidou com o Jeff. E uma dúvida irmão: É você mesmo quem edita os vídeos?
Thanks man! Yepp I edit them all myself :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Que top. Parabéns irmão. Sua edição é muito boa. Eu te acompanho há alguns meses aqui do Brasil e só agora estou interagindo por aqui. Valeu. OSS!
Great video :) Btw is there a limit to how many students there will be at your Vietnam retreat?
I'm pretty sure we'll have about 30-40 people. So it won't be too crowded. You should definitely come if you can!
Awesome Jeff is now a black belt ❤
Jeff is no slouch, and yet you handled him. Just goes to show once again what a high level grappler Jordan is
Thanks
I'd love to come to Vietnam and train with you both, love all your videos. Unfortunately, I'll be on my honeymoon, so I don't think the missus with appreciate that haha!l
The "mini supplex" name is a mat return
At the 47 second timestamp where Jeff hits the double leg how did you spin under him, can you make a short on that as a tutorial?
In wrestling we used to call your "mini suplex" a mat return
First..i love Jordan...he is one of the best bjj TH-camrs
Very kind of you! Thank you :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Oss!!
Your mini suplex is very similar to ushiro goshi from judo! I think the name applies. The only difference is in gi vs no gi grips.
In wrestling, we usually call those "mini suplexes" "re-drops" or redrops or mat returns.
nice gym, those benches.
I really love how you are well rounded in all ways of Grappling. This is Jiu Jitsu
Thanks man! Being a complete martial artist has always been my goal. Striking included :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu yeah grapplers should be aware of some positions like turtle, deep half guard, closed guard not to be too much time because of the punches in real fight or MMA
@@tornjak096 Exactly. Imo every grappler should be able to use their grappling within a fight even if they never plan to fight. They should understand how to get up, how to control their opponents arms to prevent strikes, and understand positions to avoid. I like BJJ for the sport aspect don't get me wrong, but being a complete grappler and having these skills will make their "sport" grappling even better.
Would love to come to the Vietnam camp however I’m too young currently so if I was older I’d definitely come
Hate your dry commentary but love watching your rolls, so technically sound. Keep up the great content brother
I thought I was pretty lively in this one 🤷
I'd like to see you roll more with mma guys and just high level guys in general.
I'd like that too. I need to travel more to make that happen. Tough with 3 kids but I do my best :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu four kids if you included wife just kidding.........Not :)
Jordan, what's your thoughts on wrist locks? I've watched a lot of your vids and I don't think I've ever seen you do one. Are they part of your game at all and in your opinion are they worth learning? Cheers!
Wrist locks are awesome. I use them from time to time. Definitely worth learning. There's a bunch of techniques I use day to day that I haven't really featured on the channel much or at all. I'm going to change that though and show more variety :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu Amazing, I look forward to it.
wrestling for bjj course!? heck yea
When is the one in BKK? I can see it on the camp webpage. I do live there so if you guys need any help with organising it will be happy to help, especially with taking guys around Bkk to see places that tourists usually won't reach on their own!
joseph breza is the shit. I've learned so much from his youtube videos
Are those mini duplexes called "Mat Returns"?
Mat returns are more so when you have a body lock on your opponent from turtle and they stand up, and you return them to the mat :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsuOh okay gotcha. Thanks Jordan!
how many people are max at the vietnam camp ? :)
gotta say i really learn from you thanks again and again !!
Thank you! It's a huge space so we can take plenty of participants. Definitely come if you can :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu
So there is no cap ?
I just wanted to evaluate how much time you have per person.
If there are a lot of people chances are lower to get specific instruction and time from you or the others :)
So for example 1000 people would mean general classes without 1 on 1 specific improvement most likely.
So is there a cap plus how many do you think will attend ? :)
Oh ya definitely! I don't think we'll have over 50 people. I think closer to 30-40. I'll be available for privates as well, and give as much attention to everyone as humanly possible :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu thanks :) i really am considering however flying isnt my thing haha.
As soon as you host something in germany or around there ill jump in
Jeff just got his black belt 🥋
Breza grappling
I’ve heard mini suplex called mat return
Hey man can you do one with a high level wrestler? And high level boxer vs jiujitsu?
I can try but it's actually tough to get high level guys to agree to a filmed roll. And in past I've had people say yes but after the roll happened changed their mind 😔
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu oh I'm sorry bro. Awesome videos regardless. Great channel.
Are you going to upload your mma or sparring rounds? Please do!
It's on Jeff's channel :) I am way better at striking now haha but here's the video: th-cam.com/video/747QmirYOIU/w-d-xo.html
Thanks man, I watched it. Great rounds. Insane you got a twister in the midst of that! Glad you’re still getting better. One thing I admire is how critical you are. Always trying to get better. Keep it up!
@@christisking1193 Thanks man! I am my own worst critic, in mostly a good way but sometimes bad haha, as all I want to do is improve :)
I just had my 2nd class of no-gi after several months of gi and got annihilated all big dudes. I'm big (or tall) but they're bigger or stocky with wrestling experience. I'd do a double-A and couldn't even complete the take down or they'd end up on top.
Hey Jordan I’m a white belt, I just did my second tournament and got my third stripe in the process. Your videos have helped me a lot because I only train once a week. I also got the shorts they are my favorite shorts
Damn, I honestly thought the matchup would be a lot closer! No hate on Jeff!
I think that mini Suplex is called a mat return . Correct me if I’m wrong
That wrestling for Jiu Jitsu course is gonna be fire! 🔥 I’ve picked up so many good things on Joseph’s channel as well, I know that collab is gonna be off the chain.
Thank you!! I sincerely appreciate that and am so glad that people are learning so much! It’s going to be a great time!
Thanks man!! We share such a similar understanding and perspective on grappling. The perfect duo for this course :)
@@JordanTeachesJiujitsu I agree! I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from you.
The mini-suplex is called a suplay
I would love to watch you roll with Gordon Ryan
Would love that match as well 🙏
Mega video, you should go roll at B team!
👊
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Jordan, have you played any attention to the "Ecological" approach to Jiu jitsu? If so, what do you think about it? Seems like your theory course lines up with what the "games" from the ecological approach are designed to teach.
Ya I'm familiar with it and quite like it. It's all very similar in the sense that what the theory course teaches and the ecological approach both provide simple and straight forward objectives. In the majority of cases where people go wrong with their technique isn't executing it with the wrong grips, but not prioritizing the important concepts behind the techniques. For example I taught a closed guard pass in one of my youtube shorts and some said "they'll just be able to triangle you." But what needs to be prioritized in the pass, and pretty much anywhere in BJJ, is to control the hips. You can't be triangles if you prioritize pinning the hips. So some might fail the technique and think it doesn't work, but in reality the issue isn't doing the technique wrong perse , but not prioritizing whats most important. Techniques are just grip sequences and they're important. But if you grip correctly, and ignore simple objectives, then it's not going to work out. So in short I really like the ecological approach because it teaches that, and it's very much what I teach, but with a slightly different approach.
lets gooo
Was this a re-upload?
Sorta. I had the roll up before but I'm better at content creation now so figured it was time I remade it. Plus I needed a video with Jeff to promote the course and couldn't make it out to NY to film with him like I wanted to :)
I also like these « mini suplexes »! I think the proper name is « Mat return »
I could be completely wrong in my wrestling lingo but to me a mat return is having someone on the ground in the body lock, and when they stand up taking them back down. But again I could be wrong as I have very minimal pure wrestling experience.
Damn you demolished him
Ya I'm way bigger though haha
Jeff chan out here collabing with everyone 💀
Haha he sure get's around!
So, it seems that this Jordan dude is black belt under team evolution (I guess). I have never heard him tell where or from whom he got his black belt .
Ya I affiliated with evolution right after getting my purple belt. I've had my own gym since late blue belt.
Guillotines...X Martial sponsorship...this must be a Tyler Spangler video. :p
Haha just missing some quacks
Jordan where is your gym located?
Trenton, Ontario, Canada :)
A damn i thought it was near manhattan by me i would have loved to learn that guillotine first hand im starting to realize im not pushing the head down into the wrist nor rotating my body
