I came to know him through his divine creations, when I happened to purchase a L P album for my HMV Stereo System - featuring four ghazals - namely - Muhabbat Karne wale Kam Na Honge, Bhooli Bisri Chand Ummeden, Baat Karni Muskil' and Abke Ham Bichre - of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab in 1978 and the rendezvous has been continuing ever since and will continue till I breathe !
You r right i got my senses while listning to Mehdi sb..in 70s in pakistan..he was so popular and famous througout pakistan..regardless of his film songs or tv performances...everything he san was well accepted and became famous..this was his quality of voice nad performimg talent...
The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was neither an Indian nor a Pakistani nor a Hindu or Muslim ! The great Khan Saab belonged to the entire world ; and, infact, he was its Prized Possession ! The great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the Brightest Jewel in the World Of Ghazal Gayiki and indeed, its Crowning Glory ! I have been an ardent fan and avid listener of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab for the last 40 years since 1978 when I first came to know him through his divine creations and will remain so till l breathe ! I am now 68 years old ! The great Khan Saab is my all time favourite ! Listening to him during the evening for hours on end on daily basis has been infusing a new lease of life and the will to live in me every day in and day out ! I've started to listen Khan sb in my early 20s and after that I've stop listening baseless songs and turn to Ghulam ali Sb Farida G Jagjit sb they are in my full on playlist, the words the expressions they relate you in some point with your life.
