  • The police have increased patrols in the area.
Local media has reported that this is common in the South East Sheffield area.
Let's all look out for each other, particularly our neighbours.

    Welcome to my Channel,
My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.
    FAQ
    Where is Helen?
Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
    What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
    Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that TH-cam put on the videos.
    Why the sponsored videos?
I only accept sponsorship from companies I use and trust, this is my fulltime job and my income, it’s how I support my family. (I have Patreon if you prefer videos with no ads).
    How do I contact you?
    Please contact me here: james@bythecurb.co.uk

UPDATE: We've got a good lead on who the main culprit could be, there may even be cctv footage from one of the houses on the street. Thank you for all your kind messages, after thinking about it, I shouldn't have let them wind me up so much and stood my ground but stayed there watching them until the police came. I am usually a very placid person but I was really upset that he threatened Helen with violence. It's a good job I wasn't fit enough to catch him as I could've been the one who ended up in trouble.

In our town a bunch of kids, 6 or 8, used to come onto the green and cause trouble.
This is an area of grass surrounded by houses.
It went on for months, and they did some bad stuff.
One night they were smashing a park bench.
But they were in for a shock.
All at once, about 80 residents of the surrounding houses came out and surrounded the kids.
    ⅔s of them were women.
They laid into these young lads, shouting and gesturing (there was no physical violence) but they gave them a really unpleasant time.
The kids were totally surrounded and just had to take it for 15, 20 minutes.
Needless to say, the residents had prearranged everything with a telephone network and the operation was planned to the second.
    Result ?
Those kids went, and they never came back.
We 'average citizens' don't realize our power.

We also need to remember that as we age some of us develop selective hearing, conveniently not hearing what we don't want to hear. It's the same with our memories. I was in my teens in the late 50's early 60's, I seem to remember teen gangs then, First it was the 'Teddy boys' Chains and knuckle dusters were their favourite weapons. Then we had the Mods and Rockers, motor bikes versus scooters, terrorising the nearest seaside town every weekend, although most of their violence was aimed at each other. We had bovver boys, then as the American drug culture moved in and cannabis took hold, we had the arty farty types we called Bohemians, mainly Art students, draping themselves half comatosed all over everything, they then became hippies and beatniks, moving in droves from festival to demonstrations ,spreading free love ,among other things. It was all work avoidance and still is. So really, what is new except that then as now we can add a sprinkling of racial overtones to the mix. Before the war there was no cult of the young. When boys went into long trousers they became a man, when girls put on a bra they became small versions of their parents. Some kids have terrible lives that can only be described as feral, with terrible conveyer belt education, unfortunately that gets worse instead of better. Kids like the Police are a reflection of the society they come from.

Me being me wasn’t having any of it and just walked through them, I got a bit of abuse and just smiled, said a couple of words then, having heard my accent, got the big brave Jock taunts. This very thing happened to me and my wife some years back. Luckly my Dad taught us how to hunt and lets say that the biggest lesson we learned was that your prey is a creature of habit. Two months after the incident and some insistent surveillance I found out where the main instigator lived and I managed to get a photo of him without his "face gear" on. I printed several pictures of his smug gob and posted them on walls where they hung out. I watched as they arrived and it was sweet to watch the panic as he and his buds tried to come to terms with his mug shot taken outside his own door with the words 'Mabey not today but perhaps tomorrow' written on the back of each photo. I watched their gathering spot in our neighbourhood over the next month and for some strange reason the group of road boys had disappeared.
