We were there in early summer when all the costumes and dancers were parading and entertaining all the public. It was fabulous. James what are you trying to define? Well, Tasmania here again. We love just wandering around with you seeing the sights. You didn't explain that big monument thing with all the names though. We wanted to look in the florist shop as well. Our son has a large florist shop in Adelaide South Australia, called "Flowers Everywhere", so we always want to check florists out. Me and my other half want to go on the lash with you both, you are the most down to earth people we have watched ont youtube.... Keep up the good sarcastic funny work 😅
It's been a lifetime since I've been to Doncaster, I used to go regularly as a kid 14/15 and me and my mate were up to allsorts! Smoke bombs under cars, letting stink bombs off in shopping centres, and my favourite was my mate inhaling the helium from balloons that we got from Millies Cookies, and he would go round asking people for the time in the squeaky voice!
I used to travel through Bawtry to get to Gainsborough to see my then fiance back in 1979 on my Gt750 mbike. Good memories of not Doncaster but Lincolnshire
Most Town centres are depressing in the rain especially large town's and cities that have not heart and sole no shops apart from Fast food and barbers.higlight definitely was the fish and chips. shame you didn't buy a pork pie they looked fantastic
Ha ha. Great video. Particularly enjoyed your honesty. Especially enjoyed you driving past my house in Tickhill! 😀 Best wishes from me here in Bangkok, Thailand.
Oof, fancy missing off Nigel Gresley Square, Cast, The Savoy and the spectacular new museum. Also the Pub next door to The Queens is the best pub in Doncaster The Masons! Town centre is a right dump these days though. It was sort of ace in the nineties and early 2000's but it's been a slow decline since. Unlike Barnsley which I visited a few weeks ago. Wow, talk about a renaissance! I ought to do a Vlog when I can be arsed.
"Dreary drab wander with brolly". Loved it! The bus station was interesting. Loved seeing red phone box. Boys Store was great, haberdashery. You are very entertaining no matter what you do. Great show.
James ..just love you and Helens yorkshire accents.. Just one lad was in our class at school ..he stood out so much and our teacher loved his accent. Micheal Brandford i think lol ace memories ...i'm 64 this october. But shhhhhhhhhh..... my bestest ever boyfriend was from Barnsley......it's just the accent lol x
Well you went to Tickhill and Edlo and didn't drop into Maltby 😀 but having said that it's not Doni is it 😉 Nice to see some local places. I've not been into Doni town for years and it's changed so much from your video. That timber joint in Bawtry had been there for years n years, shame to see it go. I have heard the Misterton chippy is good as well so might be worth a trip out that way. Great video and that "our tune" made me think about when I worked in a factory 😂
Good one James! ⛈☔😢.......😂Loved the pub scene. And, saved by a winning fish&chips. I've not seen the Flying Scotsman, will have to check that out. Thanks for tonight's entertainment.
I grew up in Donny and I’m back living here and I watched and enjoyed every second of this! I live quite out of town now so it was nice to see you walk around places I’ve not been in a while 😊
It all looked really good to me!! You can’t help the rain. Ooooh,, fish and chips!!! Looks bloody lovely!! You should have bought a pork pie for later!! Xx
I have a fondness for Donny l was stationed there while in the RAF and still meet up there with my old RAF buddies for a day of booze and fun each summer remembering (Seventh Heaven night club). I love to drive around places see what's changed there l left Donny in 1986 and sadly my first born is buried there at Rose Hill cemetery 🌹 So l visit her grave and tidy it up along with a few other baby graves next to hers.l live in Rochdale now but Donny has a special place in my heart great memories along with a sad memory 🙏
Just a fact about lakeside, there stands the Dome which, when built in the 1980’s was Europes largest indoor leisure centre with the only two-tier ice skating rink. It stands on the site of the former Doncaster Airport which I believe hosted the worlds first aeroplane race
Great little micro-pub on Platform 3 at Doncaster Train station, called the Draughtsman. Great beer, reasonably priced and sells Toppings Pork Pies which are the best in the World! No point in complaining about the weather, it's England! Just get a pie and and a pint down you, you'll be reet! Love and peace.
I live in Bessacarr so not far from Bawtry and Tickhill which I often frequent on a Saturday or Sunday for a drink or two, the two Indian food places are not great though, however Zinis is very nice for Italian food
You could, at least, have read us some of the signs on the sculptures! Helen would've! 😉 I can't think of anyone I'd rather walk around a rainy Doncaster with 😀
Hi James, not only did the rain kill your blog but the timing was off too. From the cross roads you went down Silver Street, there's nothing down there until night time (night clubs), if you had gone any of the other 3 there's loads of pubs worth a visit, Wednesday and Thursday are not very good either. Tuesday is the liveliest day followed by Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesdays we have regulars coming from Barnsley Sheffield and Rotherham and surounding areas for the day out.
Our tune!! Loved listening to that on a tea break at work. All the warehouse men doing fake crying to entertain the little teenage girl (me). Tune took me right back to the 80s. See I watched to the end! ❤❤😂😂
To get you out and up into the hills - how about a walk to White Nancy near Bollington. You coukd also visit Jenkin Chapel and Windgather Rocks then a pint in the Robin Hood....
I do remember a Tony Hancock episode on a Sunday afternoon, you were even more fed up than him. You are desperate, a bus station and a train station are the highlights of the day but not surprising, what a bloody, horrible weather day, not nice for you but you have spared me a rainy day Doncaster. It is almost zen like the way you approach fish and chips.
Kevin keegan was from Doncaster. Douglas Barder's mum lived in Doncaster And not forgetting the world famous Jeremy Clarkson and Paddington bear & Dianna Rigg
I am a lorry driver used to Park in Doncaster over night sometimes can't remember how many years ago ,great place to go out in town very friendly and some times very very friendly if you know what I mean , all memories now, 😅
Thomas Crapper was born in Doncaster. He held the patent for the floating ballcock. That's a great chat up line if ever you need one by the way.
It seems that he invented the toilet and the town fashioned itself on his invention as a tribute to him

When I was a kid in the 50 /60s my grandad always went to Doncaster races and he used to bring back us Doncaster butter scotch it was in a kind of slab in a white cardboard pack with butterscotch embossed writing they were all individually wrapped in silver foil ,my grandad had been severely wounded in ww1 in Belgium blown up he had shrapnel in his body when he died of cancer in 1969 ,great bloke
Watching your real life videos living in Sunny spain really makes me appreciate my new life . Get you and Helen in the van to Sunny Almería
His 2 daughters also work with him. What are you going to do in the winter? Great video. ❤🇦🇺
I love how your highlighting our national dish fish and chips also our once great towns and cities, keep up the good work 😊😊😊😊😊
Chicken Tikka massala is the nation's favourite dish!
Nay lad nay it's COD & MUSHY PEAS thau knows!
Just been to Whitby -Boyes-yesss!! Don't have that where I am. Boyes, Yorkshire Trading,on to The Spoonie,up the steps, Brewery, down the steps, shops, pubs,Pie & Mash,Pubs, beach, chat to lovely people. Do it all again the next day-Bliss. Enjoyed the Vlog-I like the style of your Vlogs so much.
Brilliant as always James ❤thanks
Thanks
Thank you so much 😊
Never looked around Doncaster it's great seeing all these different places can't help the rain its england remember pissing down ,pint looked nice and chippy tea head down mate have a good snore .
Me and my other half want to go on the lash with you both, you are the most down to earth people we have watched ont youtube.... Keep up the good sarcastic funny work 😅
Absolutely hilarious. Hubby and I loved this vlog 🤣🤣
Thankyou james ,enjoyed my trip round Doncaster even in the rain.❤
Most Town centres are depressing in the rain especially large town's and cities that have not heart and sole no shops apart from Fast food and barbers.higlight definitely was the fish and chips. shame you didn't buy a pork pie they looked fantastic
Ha ha. Great video. Particularly enjoyed your honesty.
Especially enjoyed you driving past my house in Tickhill! 😀
Best wishes from me here in Bangkok, Thailand.
Havent been home in years good seeing how some of the places i misspent my youth have change
Thank you. The fish and chips saves the day 😊
I grew up in Donny and I’m back living here and I watched and enjoyed every second of this! I live quite out of town now so it was nice to see you walk around places I’ve not been in a while 😊
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it
Loved it I need to try the fish and chips shop they looked right nice x
Another great vlog, I've been to that chippy and it is awesome thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Been to Doncaster on business years ago so nice to watch this vlog brings back memories Co Clare Ireland 🇮🇪
From Doncaster. NZ past 30 years. Enjoyed it thanks. Hooted when t'husband glanced up when you were in the pub and exclaimed... Is that DONCASTER?!?
I live in Bessacarr so not far from Bawtry and Tickhill which I often frequent on a Saturday or Sunday for a drink or two, the two Indian food places are not great though, however Zinis is very nice for Italian food
You could, at least, have read us some of the signs on the sculptures! Helen would've! 😉
I can't think of anyone I'd rather walk around a rainy Doncaster with 😀
Always on the look out for a good Chippy James. I'm only 30 mins away in Sheff so will have a drive out next week.
Get thisen to Peats chippy Grenoside pal lovely Jubbly!
None of your blogs are rubbish, I enjoyed every minute yet again,
Great videos. You 2 bounce off each other. Keep the good work coming
James this vlog was brill keep them coming love, see thee x
Thanks for the nice video James. The fish & chips looked amazing! See you on the next one ☝️ 😊
You coukd also visit Jenkin Chapel and Windgather Rocks then a pint in the Robin Hood....
absolutely spot on video you say it as you see it keep up the good work and ill watch you next time round
