Among Kansas State, BYU, Iowa State, and Colorado: Kansas State plays all the other three teams on the road (in the middle of the freak'n night). None of the other three teams play each other at all. Not complaining. Our schedule looked pretty favorable before the season started. But wow, the way things worked out, it is absolutely a brutal schedule.
On the other hand, having all 3 of those games means that KSU can lose one of them and still make the conference championships. Colorado may well be out of contention with one loss unless they get help.
K-State is a really solid football team. It is how they lost to BYU that makes it worst for them to begin with. Now, knowing how good BYU is makes it a quality loss for K-State. To make the big12 championship and final 4, K-State would need to beat ISU and root for BYU to go undefeated-they will then get a chance to redeem themselves in a rematch with BYU.

All those teams are very good, but none of them are good enough for any of their fans to be poppin off to the BYU Cougars. BYU was scheduled to play every one of the Top-5 preseason Big 12 teams. They also had their first conf game versus KState. It's not BYU's fault that UU, UA, KU & OkSt all ended up laying epic eggs. Or that KState decided to belly-up in Provo. BYU looks to be the only team that makes it to the CFP.
The Coogs have a pretty weak schedule remaining - At Utah, vs. Kansas, at Arizona State, and vs. Houston. Then vs. next best team for the conference title.
Iowa State, K-State, and Colorado, ALL, get left out. They just have not played a tough-enough schedule to gain an at-large bid.

@@GoHornets Yes, I have seen K-State’s schedule. Outside of BYU, who have the actually played? Just mediocre Big XII teams. They also faced UT Martin and Tulane, not exactly powerhouse non-conference opponents.
BYU is not the best team in the BIG XII and if they will make us look bad in the CFP. They don't play Colorado, Iowa State or Cincinnati. They would definitely get at least 2 losses out of those 3 games
The team that is unblemished & whipped KState is definitely a team that has it in them to go 3-0 vs CU, ISU & Cincy -- certainly on neutral fields. All those teams are very good, but none of them are good enough for any of their fans to be poppin off to the BYU Cougars. BYU was scheduled to play every one of the Top-5 preseason Big 12 teams. They also had their first conf game versus KState.
It's not BYU's fault that UU, UA, KU & OkSt all ended up laying epic eggs. Or that KState decided to belly-up in Provo. CU, Iowa St & Cincy should all feel fortunate they don't have to face the Cougars this late in the season.
There's always the risk they get curb stomped like TCU did, but at present, they DEFINITELY seem the best team in the BIG 12.

@@tommyh5 I’m not going to disagree that the SEC has the best football. That said, I don’t think the gap between the Big12 and Big Ten is as big as the gap between the Big12 and SEC.
Yet somehow the BigTen gets the most money (population, grads etc).
@@tommyh5 If only the SEC weren't such cowards and scheduled meaningful out-of-conference opponents to prove it on the field rather tha just relying on honks building them up. But what we get instead is collusion with the B1G where they both agree to play better schedules once they are guaranteed playoff berths they haven't earned.
