“Plans are worthless, but planning is everything. “ - Dwight D. Eisenhower You do an excellent plan each day but always remain flexible with it. You’re definitely dialed in on trail life.
As you came into that wonderful field farm I thot of Barbara Frietchie’s “…garden of the Lord”, Whittier. You are covering some marvelously beautiful country. Utah is basically desert and we NEVER see the lavish greens you are hiking with its multitudinous shades of green with the sky showing thru! I feel a vicarious part of your hiking. Good luck with the food supply and reunion✅
As a fellow lover of the full-body ice bath that a mountain dip is in the Northeast, I wanted to pass on a few of my favorites along the AT in NH/ME: -By the Eliza Brook Shelter between Mts. Wolf & Kinsman in the Southern Whites. -Along the railroad grade a few miles before the Ethan Pond Shelter in the central Whites -Speck Pond Shelter a short bit into Maine -Cooper Brook Falls Lean-To at about the 1/2-way point of the 100 Mile Wilderness
I've watched your whole journey and appreciate seeing what life is like on the trail. You're getting into areas where I hike. I've driven I-90 under that AT bridge a ton of times! The bugs are bad this time of year but often get better by mid-June or early July. Last week I hiked high peaks in Maine along the AT. The views are amazing from the mountains in the Northeast, you will love it!
@nightrunning4eva I live in Northern NY (Adirondack Mountains). The black flies are usually gone in NY by the end of June. It is probably similar in Maine. Mosquitos are around all summer, more concentrated near water.
Buy a small can of OFF! and hope the bugs leave you alone. Kara is a fantastic support for your adventure behind the scenes----- stuff just happens as you have reassured her! AT stand showed up just in time! Love people who do stuff like this! Thanks for showing what your improptu resupply finds looked like, too. Interesting. The lake was beautiful!
I love that every advice for bears is to make noise and be loud, and you try to sneak up on the "bear". I'd do the same, I want to see a bear in the wild (my asthma breathing definitely scares them away before I get close)
🚶🐕🦺👟👟⛺🌞 so grateful that you're sharing your amazing journey with all of us you and Leo are moving right along stay safe and happy hiking 💯💪🏆 tell your wife to tell them to put a pizza in the box and send it on up the trail 😁
I love your positivity ~ take care and pay attention to your body and finish strong!! No doubt at all that you will! And I love how you handle that resupply goof. Stuff like that happens in life, all a part of it!! Your wife is amazing with her support for you!! You are a lucky guy! One thing you can always count on in life is things will get “messed up” but it is how you deal with it that matters! Always wonderful watching your videos and progress! Stay strong ♥️🥾♥️
Spray your ball cap with off especially the bill! How nice to have the AT Shack on your day! Glad you are feeling better today, but don’t beat yourself up for having challenges.. it happens, but what’s important is you pushed through… keep pushing those miles, each step is bringing you closer … Hike on….
I’ve been blessed with several bear sightings/close encounters. I’ve smelled them, but never heard them. I’m sure your feet are ready for a good rest. You should see today’s video 5stack posted. He had a hawk? Dive bomb him on trail. He was prepared as he had been warned and it did not get his head. Others have had their heads scraped by it. He is in Maine. Hopefully it will be gone by the time you get there. Would be hard to protect both you and Leo
That pizza place didn’t send my box back last year. I called and asked two times and they were nice and said they would but I didn’t get it back. Good luck!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ AT stand was so cool!! The terrain and trails are sooo beautiful! Just a question on how does all the fat and cholesterol that you ingest, equal out with your hiking?😳 coming from a medical point of view, I would love to see what your bloodwork says about your cholesterol. LOL.

“ things happen, and we have to adjust”…. such a great life lesson that you have said over and over! Great wisdom there.
Yes! Thank you!
Today's journey must have been refreshing for a man that likes water.
Always
I saw your contribution to Ramdinos post and you were all ‘gnat controlled up’!! 😂
😁
That AT Stand is awesome, such generous folks who stock that for the hikers 😊
I hope you were able to get your box bounced!
I did!

I’m hiking the 100-mile wilderness in Maine the third week of July…any idea whether the black flies will subside by then? Mosquitoes?
Can't wait

Maybe I hike loud 😂
Had to laugh at those planks they had installed and how they were over nice dry ground but they ended right at the mud.
Always

You are so welcome
When you get in nh. And me. Whatch out for small lakes ponds. They tend to have leaches in some remote places.
Thanks
That lodge is about 20 minutes from my hometown. Enjoy!
Nice

Thank you so much!!
Get a dryer sheet and put it on your hat- it works for me when i outside here in bama- it keeps the snats away while i working outside
Hmmm

Don't want that dripping down into my eyes after a rainy day

I will catch him with my teeth 😄
Fabulous! Thanks.
Thanks
😂 Spray that bug net with some Off, wear a sweat band 😅
I got a plan
That's why you have your bug net silly.
I wondered the same thing. The don't cost that much and only weigh less than an ounce.
Yea it and sweat didn't work together
@@ISuckatHiking sun hat brim would keep it off your skin, if the cling is what bothers you.
Love the vid!
Thanks
You forgot to mention the peanut M&M's😂 that lodge looked amazing.
Eating them daily
It’s going to be 97 degrees today in Florida
Already feels like August 🔥
Ugh
That pizza place didn’t send my box back last year. I called and asked two times and they were nice and said they would but I didn’t get it back. Good luck!!
Sorry to hear that

I am burning it up
When you have to do laundry town, I was curious as to what those costs are nowadays.
5-10 bucks
How many change of clothes do you carry.
And what is your pack weight these days?
1 to hike 1 to sleep
I haven't weighed it in a while
22:10 😆
😂
So what do gnats eat when they can't find hikers? 😄It's amazing how annoying those list buggers can be, might be time to invest in a bug net.
I have one
@@ISuckatHiking figured you did but if you're like me I really don't like wearing one.
Why don’t you try wearing the bug gear you found in the hiker box. It should help keep those nats off your face.
I have now
Put a dryer sheet in your hat.
Second time I have heard that
Protein from gnats.
Yup
