    Sorry if the sound is a little off throughout the video, I had a few technical difficulties!😬😁

      I was just about to mention that in your last few videos the sound is very low. I initially thought it was my devices, but then the ads were perfectly fine. I could barely hear you. Thanks!

    "Confronting" them really does work. Some clothes suddenly work for us when we try them on again. :)

    I always consider selling my clothes but never get around to it. I feel it's kind of daunting and time consuming. Would love to watch a video of your process of selling your clothes! Might inspire me! 😃

      Yes that's a great idea, I need to film a video like that 😊

      Same here! I had some nice, barely worn pieces but donated them because I work long hours and don't have time/patience for the selling process

    I think that white linen tank top looks adorable on you!

      Aw thank you! I'm just ready for something new, I think I will sew a beige crop tank instead 😁

    Omgosh, Val, I LOVED this intentional, thoughtful declutter. It wasn't only enjoyable, but the questions you posed yourself throughout were excellent. I was especially struck with, "Would I buy this again if I didn't have it?" Fantastic! haha. I did a mental closet-run-through the second you said that, and already have a few outliers in mind. haha. Great vid as always!

      That's so great Amanda! I love it when my videos are helpful 😁

    I found this so helpful. I just went through my closet, but I then visited my daughter in Brooklyn to help her move apartments, and brought along a little travel capsule. When I got back home I realized I needed much less than what I had kept in my closet, but also felt like I needed a few replacements. This video really helped outline a thoughtful way to do just that. I also am inspired to try taking my clothing to a consignment store. I used to just donate my clothing, but I am learning that means they are most likely headed for the landfill, and selling or consigning means they actually have another chance at being worn. Thank you!

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, give the consignment store a try! At least you get a little money back 🥰

    • @victoria9663
      @victoria9663 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just sold a couple pieces of clothing at a local consignment store for a whopping $5.50 🙄🫣😂 which was disappointing, but I would far rather give them a good chance at being worn again. I couldn't bear the thought of them just being thrown out.

    Save the last sweater and get a pill remover. They make manual combs or little electric machines. I have a comb and it’s saved me so much money in buying new sweaters. I just comb my old ones.

    • @ValKovalchuk

      I have an electric pill remover that I’ve used on this sweater many times, but it just keeps pilling 😭 I’m ready to let it go!

    What a great idea to do a wardrobe declutter at the end of the season. I live in mountains near the Canadian border so have well defined seasons. Typically pack everything away and look at it when I pull it out. Tend to forget what I didn't like. Then it clutters my closet and I don't wear it. Then pack it away again. Looking forward to having a spring/summer wardrobe that only has items I love to wear in 2023.

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, give it a try this way while everything is fresh on your mind! 🥰

  • @victoria9663

    So good!! I had to go through my clothes yesterday even though I have an extremely minimal wardrobe, and the "would I buy this again" is the question that got me to let go of some clothes that I was holding on to because of guilt over the cost. I decided to upcycle a couple of them into skirts which is a very fun project for me. Hopefully I will wear the skirts way more than the original pieces!

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that blue color is pretty gorgeous, but I prefer to wear something that doesn't stand out so much! Maybe if it was just a top, but head to toe was too much for me 😅

    This video came at the right time. Before falling into the shopping-trap for fall... breathe out ... and take time to reflect...
    I would be interested in a video about the 3 words method

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What is the 3 words method? I haven't heard of that before..

    • @jill5977
      @jill5977 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ValKovalchukHi 😊 It is a method where you try to find 3 words to describe your unique style.
      It can include the aesthetic, but also how you would like to feel in your outfits (or in general) or what impression you want make on others. I imagine it's like how do I want to feel and how can my clothes support me to reach this?
      Similar to your questions like - what do I like about it? What don't I like about it? - this is also a method to bring more awereness into our wardrobe.
      And I guess it can be very personnal as well. When our style reflects our personality...
      I have found a few videos but most are not so profound. I can recommend the video by Alyssa Beltempo.
      I wish you a very nice day ☺

    I liked your analysis! The weather in Germany is still quite warm eventually, so I hesitate to pack away all summer items. But when it is time, I‘ll ask myself some of your questions. ✌🏼

    It's always a great idea to have a few questions to ask yourself when you're decluttering. Just as you would when deciding to make a new purchase. I've been keeping a tally of what I'll most likely be parting ways with at the end of the year. Thanks for another informative video Val! 😃

    Just want to say that I love your videos and that they have really helped me on my wardrobe journey. I'm still very much at the assessment stage now, after finally working out what suits me and what I love to wear. I still have more clothes than I wear, but because I love them all, I keep a lot of them in storage and shop my own wardrobe when I want to change it up. It has saved me a ton of money and wasted time.
    I know you say that you don't really like the bolder colour of the blue jumpsuit, but, wow, it really makes your features pop! I love that colour on you. Also, you mentioned that you sew - would it be possible to alter the white lined tank top to make it fit better? I'm bad at sewing, so feel free to tell me if this is a bad idea :)

    • @tigrezz0852
      @tigrezz0852 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was about to say the same thing 😊 if you can alter the white tank top yourself Val? Oh, what a skill to have to be able to sew! 🙏🏼✌🏼

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that blue color is pretty gorgeous, but I prefer to wear something that doesn't stand out so much! 😅 I feel much more comfortable in muted colors. As for altering my tank, I think I want to sew one in a beige color instead as I have a lot of white tops already.

    Great video! Did you happen to try a sweater shaver on your cashmere sweater? That kind of helps with pilly sweaters (to a point- some are just beyond saving).

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can really relate to the sting when not being able to sell but being a mom to a toddler, I'm reconsidering my time spent on potentially selling and getting money back. I'm considering just selling at a low price, get SOME money back and get items out of the house instead of selling at a higher price but waiting for someone to buy and having items still IN my house. It's such a hard one because time is so precious in this season of my life!
    Regarding your first white tank top, if you can sew, can't you easily alter it to fit you? Just curious because then you can keep that too 😊

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah it does take a lot of effort to list item for sale, not gonna lie 😅 As for altering my tank, I think I want to sew one in a beige color instead as I have a lot of white tops already !

    rather than sew a new white take, couldn't you just take it in?

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I probably could figure out how to do that, but I decided I want to make it in a beige color! I have a lot of white tops already 😅
