- Crooked River State Park was our first trip with our new to us used 2017 Grand Design RV 310 GK. We considered this practicing for RV Living Full Time. There was so much to see in the park (but parts of the Boardwalk were closed) and close by; we wish we could have stayed longer. Very dog friendly park.

Description of the park:
"Located just a few miles from I-95 on the southern tip of Georgia’s Colonial Coast, this park is the perfect spot for enjoying the Intracoastal Waterway and maritime forest. Campsites are surrounded by palmettos and Spanish moss-draped oaks, while cottages are set near the tidal river. A boat ramp is popular with anglers who often take to the water before sunrise.
The park’s nature trail winds through forest and salt marsh, and hikers may see gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, herons and other birds. A nature center features fish, snakes, turtles and other animals native to coastal Georgia."

"Visitors may venture to the nearby ruins of a tabby mill, built around 1825 and later used as a starch factory during the Civil War. "
Very close to the Tabby Mills is the King's Bay Submarine Base with a huge attraction of a submarine replica.
St. Mary's has a picturesque downtown along the water where there was an annual Rock Shrimp Festival the day we were there, along with a hometown parade. This is also where you catch the ferry.
"Just down the road is the ferry to famous Cumberland Island National Seashore [we missed the boat-literally] known for secluded beaches and wild horses."

Mickey, what a great compliment. We really need to hear this from time to time. Larry sometimes asks if we should stop the site to site but I say we need to do them because no one else does.
This was our first with our new rig and our channel was much newer. Glad you could handle us in our earlier days. We hope our campground tours have gotten better 🤣.

I love this park. We stay there often..and are actually returning this coming Monday for a week. We often stop there on our way to Savannah..Skidaway state park is another wonderful one.

Crooked River is one of our favorite GA State Campgrounds. The bath house on the third loop is one of the best designs, and cleanest I've ever used, especially in a state campground. I'm enjoying your detailed campsite reviews.
Dale, we hope to visit more Georgia state parks soon. This was the only one. And our first in our new to us fifth wheel.

@@DownsizingMakesCents You need to try Skidaway Island in Savannah, nice, wooded, convenient to Savannah sightseeing too. Don't come during summer, hot humid, and buggy. Late fall, early spring are the most comfortable. Stay safe.

Awesome video! Thank you for showing every campsite and more. I wish there were more videos this thorough. We are staying at Crooked River in late February and the sites were almost full when we booked so I am happy to see our site #26 is very nice. I didn't see a really bad site in the entire park. Beautiful park! Next visit we hope to get site 12 because we have a Grand Design 2500 RL so we can view the river from our back window and slide.

We wish all campgrounds had videos like this- that’s why we started doing them.
Unfortunately, this is the only Georgia one we have done. But we hope to camp more in Georgia this year.

I watched Bluwave Odyssey tonight and decided to check you out and subscribe. I'm a wannabe and have been tweaking my campervan, taking camping trips, (usually to state parks, of up to 10 days) optimizing my gear and dreaming of my epic trip but can't shake free yet, with family obligations. I've wanted to do this for 50 years. I bought my van and started camping in July 2016. I'm excited to watch you go full time! Thanks for the inspiration.

This is the most big rig friendly state park I have ever visited.
Joseph, this was our very first campground with our fifth wheel, and our first Georgia park we videotaped. But in the future, we will do one on High Falls,

Do you remember if dogs were allowed on the boardwalks that are on the trails? I've been pretty disappointed to go to a state park in Florida only to find that half the trails don't allow dogs because they contain boardwalks.
Good question. I don't remember any signs saying no dogs but I think that was one of the parks that at some of the trails were shut down because the boardwalks were run down and rickety.I usually add that if it says no dogs allowed- like in our Curry Hammock video.Alice and Larry
