I don’t know but I’ve always seen these plants around, but recently I’ve become interested in them whilst gardening at my job, I strategically transplanted some because they were randomly planted, I think they start speaking to me and so I want to know how to care for them so I come here… thank you 🙏
Good morning Ashley you're giving some great tips on how to take care of snake plants you would not believe how big mine's gotten and how many is in my pot I love my snake plant😁😍🤩🥰🤟🤟
Very enjoyable to watch. Snake plants are wonderful structural plants and one of my favorites to grow. Many thanks for this video. Have a wonderful New Year in 2023! 👌🪴🥰🥳
Thank you for the informative snake tips! What should happen to the leaf propagation to the original cut leaf? Does it die or it heals and continue to grow? How long does it take for the roots develop in water? 6:40
Thanks for this! I will go and add perlite to my potting mix today, I repoted one after I get it (it was a gift) because it was poted in some cocofiber and I know it is not really a good soil for that type of plant. I mixt like 30% normal soil and 70% cactus soil, but I thing just adding perlite will be better since my soil stay humid for weeks...
Thank you. Got a new snake plant this fall, so glad to know how to re-pot. I killed my last one somehow Think I didn't water enough, but also don't want to water too much.
Are African desert plants used to ice water? No, so I wouldn't use ice cubes. I invested a whole $10 ... for a Soil Moisture Meter. Simply slide it down in soil, away from center of plant, and it will read whether a watering is needed. I also water from below, not above. With the right tools, better success.
Information is good. But trust me there is no need to buy expensive mixtures. Snake plants grow well in home garden standard soil well. I have a lot of snake plants which are grown in garden soil and they are good health plants.
Thank you for covering so mamy aspects of snake plant care. But I do have a problem you didn't cover. I have a 4ft plus healthy looking snake plant. It has about 15 leaves. Not drooping or dropping. Not yellow. Nice dark green and healthy looking. But when I touch the base of 3 of the tallest leaves they're a bit wobbly while the others are nice and firm. Last spring I repotted it in a multi compost with coconut coire and perlite. As it's now autumn/winter in the UK can I still repot it if needed? The soil doesn't look anything as dry as your soil so maybe I may need to change it to a cactus soil. Or do you have any suggestions as to why only a few leaves feel unstable and what if anything I can do to rectify the problem as I'd hate to lose it now
I was just given a freshly potted snake plant. It was dry so I watered it with bottled water. Looked at it and could see tiny bugs crawling around the dirt and also flying. What can I do? Like lil nates
Can someone help. For a year, my snake has been in a pot that was too large. Its very tall and was always leaning and separating. The roots are not very extensive and does have new babies coming. How much deeper can I plant her to support its own weight. I have plant velcro around it right now. Thank you.
Can I ask your opinion? Just got a large snake plant and it, like many other in the past from big box stores, are planted in water retaining soil. But it's not recommended to repot right away when you 1st bring them home. What would you do?
I would let the snake plant sit outside for 2-3 days to acclimate and change the soil anyway and not water for at least a week or two while it gets used to it's new home. Snake plants and pretty resilient
I bought some snake plants on marketplace and they were big but were in the wrong pots and the wrong soil.. So i got me some great terracota pots and i drilled some holes in the bottom, then i added some stones and bark in the bottom and on top a very rich and well custom made draining soil mix that has 7 ingredients.. I hope they’ll survive 😂
You are one of the most knowledgeable person on regards to your subject but you failed to inform that propagating by leaf does not come out with the mother plant. There’s only one snake plant comes up by leaf cutting like the mother plant I know . I enjoy your great presentation.
While this plant is awesome, it can be very toxic to pets depending on the amount ingested! Just for my plant and pet people:) Great ideas in this video, thank youuuu.
Very informative and I just love the fact your videos are short and to the point, not 30-40 mins of unnecessary waffle.
Thank you!
I agree

When they speak to you, what do they say...?.
Patokori Ogum!
Ty for being so clear and not going too fast- perfect
The soil that works great for my snake plants is
All purpose potting soil - 20%
Vermicompost - 20%
Cocopeat - 30%
Perlite - 30%

I use sand in place of perlite. My snake plants are very healthy
I've never heard of repot me, but I like the idea of using the slotted orchid pots.

Hi Ashely, how densely can you plant them? I have a wide horizontal planter and would like a dense "forest" of them. Is this advisable?
Great tips. How much root do you need on the propagated leaf before you can plant it. Do they have to be a little lengthy or just a little bit.
Ikea Shoe Mat !!! I am using that as well ... wooohoooo
Just found your. You are great! 🌿

Why would too much soil cause root rot? Aren't these plants in the wild with tons of soil around them?
