Thanks for posting this! I've had this amp for years with no issues until about a month ago the switch went out. It was annoying having to plug it in every time I wanted to use it. Thanks to this video I was able to get the parts and fix it myself. You rock!

Thank you for this video, it really helped me orientate those little metal prongs. I used electrical tape instead of super glue in case I wanted to get it professionally fixed later.

Awesome. Yeah, I think that's the trickiest part.

Thanks, I just did my GTX 100 thanks to your helpful tips. More or less all the same with maybe a couple more screws in the same areas to get out. Also there's a couple wood screws that seemed to help by loosening them to get the chassis to slide out real easy. Also, the female clips are already on the wires so you just work them loose. Thanks again.

I have a Mustang II. The switch broke this morning. I may just duct tape it in the "on" position and carry a surge protector with an on/off switch. Nobody calls me to fix things. I"m the guy that gets called when a shed needs torn down. Looks like a good winter project for me.

Yeah that will work. I recommend super gluing it down versus duct tape so you don't leave a sticky residue. Just glue it with the amp unplugged. :D
Mustang II will disassemble a little differently but shouldn't be too bad if you decide to replace the switch. It looks like the exact same switch my IV has.

    Grazie!

Do you need to solder the wires from the on switch if you're just cutting them loose and reattaching them?

Hi there. Have you experienced this on your Mustang, tho mine is the Mustang GT 100.
I've updated the firmware then it was successful, so it says that i need to restart my amp. So turned it off, but it won't turn on. No screen. No lights. No sound.

    • @DoYouLikeGear
      @DoYouLikeGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Dang. That's terrible. Try leaving it unplugged for an hour to let all of the power drain and then power it back up.

@@DoYouLikeGear I tried it. I even left it for a day but it's still not working. I called Fender support last night and they said to just bring it back to where I bought this and they will have it fixed or replaced. But the bringing back part will take a long time since we're still under ECQ

so my hubby took ours apart and hasn't yet put it back together. I just need to know how to put it back properly. if you would can you please make a video on putting it back together. My man issue is if the boards are correct.

I didn't take any boards apart. To put it back together I pushed the head back into the cabinet and screwed back in the 6 screws I took out. Send me some pictures of what you've got and maybe I can help out. dann@doyoulikegear.com

Hi! I have a Mustang II and one day he just shut down and never turned back on. I opened it, i brought it to a technician and he opened it up and we couldn't figure out what caused and how to fix it. Any ideas?
The guy just said "you should call fender tech support" wich is not much of an option since i dont have any in my country, plus its VERY expensive (last time i did it in my neighbour country, (i live close to the border so its near), for the broken USB port and the price was nuts).
If you have any suggestions please, id apreciate.
    Thanks.

I just lost my Mustang 1 V2, same thing I believe. I played it yesterday several times, my daughter unplugged my cable and when I went back and plugged it in and turned it on, no light - no power

@@eyefreesoul I detected it was the electronic motherboard fried, i recomend you leave it and buy another one. You have nice prices on Boss Katanas and the new Mustangs now. Dont spend any money on it, it sucks but i guess Fender just sold an equipment with low quality / longevity.

I found a fender mustang in an alley here in Seattle with the off switch loosing it's flipper part.
I have actually spent a couple days free sourcing parts and it's kinda nerve racking since I'm not 100 percent confident in my soldiering skills lol. I might just bypass the switch and use a power strip since I have plenty.

These solid state amps should be reliable and easy to repair, right? The scratchy Master volume pot is hidden behind a circuit board and cleaning only works for 5 minutes then it's back to sounding like loud fucking noise every time I touch it. I don't even know where to begin to replace it - there's so many screws and so much solder, fucking Jesus christ they really design these to be disposable. fuck
