Io ho avuto la fortuna di vedere l'inaugurazione della Cavour nei cantieri di Riva Trigoso ( in Liguria ) nel 2004, alla presenza del Presidente Ciampi. Era l'ultimo varo fuori dal mare, mi ricordo che era senza la parte davanti, il "buco" era ripiazzato da un'enorme bandiera della Marina. Non vi dico quanto mi sono emozionato quando dal Cantiere e scivolata in mare. Finita la cerimonia abbiamo pranzato in un cappannone in mezzo alle Fregate che stavano costruendo!

@@valerianocuomo996 l'abbiamo avuta una scaramuccia contro i russi. L'anno scorso tre delle loro unità navali sono entrate nell'Adriatico per via di una portaerei americana che navigava in zona. La Marina ha mobilitato tre Fregate FREMM ed in breve hanno sloggiato i russi senza colpo ferire.

Nel programma della MMI ci sono 3 Portaelicotteri (LHD) che andranno a rimpiazzare i "Santi" da 20.000 tonnellate l'una, e la già realizzata Cavour da 30.000 tonnellate, se mettete assieme queste 4 unità navali, che avranno - nelle loro potenzialità - l'agire in formazione come arma principale, non mi pare di esser messi "male" a tonnellaggio, sicuramente non in europa, dove la tanto idolotrata Marina Britannica avrà una sola portaerei classe QE di 60 mila tonnellate pronta per il 2020, mentre adesso si sorregge su 1 relitto degli anni '60...

Non ci siamo.. Ho letto che il problema dell Italia è la possibilità di avere una portaerei con un tonnellaggio superiore.. Non è proprio così.. Una portaerei con configurazione. Catobar non sarebbe costata di più è di tonellaggio sarebbe bastato 35 o 40 mila tonnellate.. Magari potevamo costruire dei rafale su licenza e avremmo avuto una portaerei decente da attacco.. Ricordo che oltre lo spreco del programma f35.. Abbiamo dovuto spendere 3.5 milioni di euro per aggiornare ulteriormente il Cavour per ospitare gli f35.. Quindi si trattava solo di spendere i soldi nella giusta maniera e di puntare i piedi con stati uniti e nato sul nostro diritto di avere una Marina forte.. Visto che siamo uno stato a sovranità limitata

Quando il FIAT G91 vinse la gara d'appalto come aviogetto leggero da caccia ed il loro progetto venne bocciato, tutti gli apparteneti alla coalizione si dotarono del FIAT G91, come da accordi presi, gli unici a non acquistare detto caccia furono i francesi nonostante obbligati; la luftwaffe possedeva i G91 e ne erano entusiasti!

Sometimes as Italian I can't help wonder whether the purchase of two aircraft carriers by our Navy wasn't in the end a vanity dream come true. It doesn't fit in any meaningful strategic planning of our country, so loath to project firepower overseas. Maybe that money would have been better spent on the technological upgrade of smaller units, and, why not? in the strengthening of the Navy infantry, bringing the San Marco regiment to a size and combat importance like that of the Folgore paratroopers.
Gar The Cavour (this one) is very new. The Garibaldi, the older and the only one so far used in real combat (Kosovo war), will be soon sold, and replaced by a Landing Helicopter Dock unit with amphibious capabilities.
Californian Nato is probably going to step up in a near future its maritime presence in Baltic and North Sea. Aircraft carriers able to complete with fighter jets the usual defense of the fleet based on artillery and rockets may come in handy.

This is embarrassing for the British. An aircraft it created and built. The Harriet carriers of the RN were scrapped in 2010. But had in fact rarely been up to operational spec since late 1990s. Imagine.. the French giving their Rafael to the USA and finding US built Refaels exported to tour EU partners. The UK is a basket case when ot comes to defence. Procurement .
during the Falklands War, these aircraft did not yet exist. these are not English Hawker Siddeley Harriers, these are McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier IIs. these aircraft entered service in 1985 and are the direct evolution of the English Harriers. They are currently serving in the US Navy, Italy and Spain. but usa and italy are replacing them with f35b. moreover in 1989 the British with the Harriers first and BAe Harrier II then, kept these aircraft in service in the British navy until 2010. they were withdrawn from service only because the British navy no longer had aircraft carriers. when the Invincible class aircraft carriers were decommissioned, the British fleet was effectively left without air carriers and while waiting for the new Queen Elizabeth class, which would have embarked f35b, the harriers were withdrawn from service.

yes, the one in the video and a NATO fleet. if you look carefully, you will notice French, Spanish, US, Turkish and Greek ships. the Italian aircraft carrier and flagship of that fleet. when ships join the squad, they pass by the flagship and salute by firing 3 shots from the bow gun. in the video, only the ships that have the serial number painted in red belong to the Italian navy.
pple pple!!! relax!!! all this third, or fourth generation aircraft are essential it's all comes down to how to pilot them. remember no matter how advanced the aircraft if the pilot is not good enough to pilot it. what good can it be? The reasoned that the british retired their harrier due to F-35 coming to their arsenal. in my opinion harrier is and was still the best VSToL (Vertical Short Take off and Landing) aircraft and most successful ever built. without the harrier their will be a long shot for F-35 VToL (Vertical Take Off and Landing). I would love to see this plane for many years. Once their gone we will miss them...

Per quelli che la pensano male...... L'italia non può possedere navi superiori ad un certo dislocamento (dopo WWII) ecco perchè abbiamo 2 campi da tennis gallegianti da qualche milione di € come portaaeromodelli.
Senza calcolare che si può spendere una determinata % di PIL in spese militari e negli utlimi anni il nostro paese ha un PIL negativo o appena positivo. Purtroppo anche se magari si sarebbe potuto fare qualcosa di più in termini di dislocamento, accessori, catapulte o altro i soldi che si potevano spendere erano quelli anche avendone a disposizione di più. La Cavour è a tutti gli effetti la sostituta della Garibaldi che non è mai nata come portaerei bensì adattata per esserlo. Tuttavia abbiamo bisogno di almeno una portaerei un pò più aggiornata! Naturalmente quello che ho scritto e solo il mio sapere per letto o sentito dire e non perchè lavoro per il governo o altri rubasoldi del tipo........ E poi una simil classe Nimiz credo non dispiacerebbe a nessuno degli incaricati ai lavori. saluti

Cavour Carrier has never been stopped for manteinance, except for the F35 deck upgrading. The same occurs to Garibaldi carrier: only one time in manteinance when a propeller touched a rock. Your Charles De Gaulle carrier, the lonely carrier, spend in manteinance more time than operating.

Nel programma della MMI ci sono 3 Portaelicotteri (LHD) che andranno a rimpiazzare i "Santi" da 20.000 tonnellate l'una, e la già realizzata Cavour da 30.000 tonnellate, se mettete assieme queste 4 unità navali, che avranno - nelle loro potenzialità - l'agire in formazione come arma principale, non mi pare di esser messi "male" a tonnellaggio, sicuramente non in europa, dove la tanto idolotrata Marina Britannica avrà una sola portaerei classe QE di 60 mila tonnellate pronta per il 2020, mentre adesso si sorregge su 1 relitto degli anni '60...

Non ci siamo.. Ho letto che il problema dell Italia è la possibilità di avere una portaerei con un tonnellaggio superiore.. Non è proprio così.. Una portaerei con configurazione. Catobar non sarebbe costata di più è di tonellaggio sarebbe bastato 35 o 40 mila tonnellate..
Magari potevamo costruire dei rafale su licenza e avremmo avuto una portaerei decente da attacco..
Ricordo che oltre lo spreco del programma f35.. Abbiamo dovuto spendere 3.5 milioni di euro per aggiornare ulteriormente il Cavour per ospitare gli f35..
Quindi si trattava solo di spendere i soldi nella giusta maniera e di puntare i piedi con stati uniti e nato sul nostro diritto di avere una Marina forte..

Io direi che siamo un stato senza alcuna sovranita` cosi come la Germania. La Francia ha la sovranita ma come l'Inghilterra e` uno stato vassallo degli USA infatti le sanzioni alla Russia le sono state imposte come a noi e la consegna delle LHD Mistral e` stata bloccata. Sometimes as Italian I can't help wonder whether the purchase of two aircraft carriers by our Navy wasn't in the end a vanity dream come true. It doesn't fit in any meaningful strategic planning of our country, so loath to project firepower overseas. Maybe that money would have been better spent on the technological upgrade of smaller units, and, why not? in the strengthening of the Navy infantry, bringing the San Marco regiment to a size and combat importance like that of the Folgore paratroopers.

The Cavour (this one) is very new. The Garibaldi, the older and the only one so far used in real combat (Kosovo war), will be soon sold, and replaced by a Landing Helicopter Dock unit with amphibious capabilities.
You make a good point maybe Italy would be better served with a navy built around submarines and fast missile boats.

This is embarrassing for the British. An aircraft it created and built. The Harriet carriers of the RN were scrapped in 2010. But had in fact rarely been up to operational spec since late 1990s. Imagine.. the French giving their Rafael to the USA and finding US built Refaels exported to tour EU partners. The UK is a basket case when ot comes to defence. Procurement .
Back in 2013 Cavour was running Harriers? Falkland conflict was in 1982 and soon after i think it were dismissed on UK.
during the Falklands War, these aircraft did not yet exist. these are not English Hawker Siddeley Harriers, these are McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier IIs. these aircraft entered service in 1985 and are the direct evolution of the English Harriers. They are currently serving in the US Navy, Italy and Spain. but usa and italy are replacing them with f35b. moreover in 1989 the British with the Harriers first and BAe Harrier II then, kept these aircraft in service in the British navy until 2010. they were withdrawn from service only because the British navy no longer had aircraft carriers. when the Invincible class aircraft carriers were decommissioned, the British fleet was effectively left without air carriers and while waiting for the new Queen Elizabeth class, which would have embarked f35b, the harriers were withdrawn from service.

pple pple!!! relax!!! all this third, or fourth generation aircraft are essential it's all comes down to how to pilot them. remember no matter how advanced the aircraft if the pilot is not good enough to pilot it. what good can it be? The reasoned that the british retired their harrier due to F-35 coming to their arsenal. in my opinion harrier is and was still the best VSToL (Vertical Short Take off and Landing) aircraft and most successful ever built. without the harrier their will be a long shot for F-35 VToL (Vertical Take Off and Landing). I would love to see this plane for many years. Once their gone we will miss them...

L'italia non può possedere navi superiori ad un certo dislocamento (dopo WWII) ecco perchè abbiamo 2 campi da tennis gallegianti da qualche milione di € come portaaeromodelli.
Senza calcolare che si può spendere una determinata % di PIL in spese militari e negli utlimi anni il nostro paese ha un PIL negativo o appena positivo.
Purtroppo anche se magari si sarebbe potuto fare qualcosa di più in termini di dislocamento, accessori, catapulte o altro i soldi che si potevano spendere erano quelli anche avendone a disposizione di più.
La Cavour è a tutti gli effetti la sostituta della Garibaldi che non è mai nata come portaerei bensì adattata per esserlo.
Tuttavia abbiamo bisogno di almeno una portaerei un pò più aggiornata!
Naturalmente quello che ho scritto e solo il mio sapere per letto o sentito dire e non perchè lavoro per il governo o altri rubasoldi del tipo........
E poi una simil classe Nimiz credo non dispiacerebbe a nessuno degli incaricati ai lavori.

maverick79gna una portaerei come la nimitz non la vedrai mai nella nostra marina, quanto riguarda la cavour la reputo un portaerei aggiornata della FINTA portaerei garibaldi in poche parole uno spreco di soldi ma sicuramente meglio avere questi due rottami che non averne nemmeno 1 visto che la portaerei è l'arma principale di una flotta sia per attaccare ma sopratutto per difendere

PS ho fatto una ricerca in merito agli armamenti che l'Italia potrebbe possedere. Purtroppo come la tassa sulla benzina della guerra di Abissinia, ancora oggi esistono dei vincoli in merito algi armamenti aggravati dall € che impongono una spesa militare in base al PIL.
