@@Justin00311_Laws True, but at least they got the deafening sounds of the weapons pretty good. I laugh at shows that show 5.56 and shotguns being fired inside rooms like cap guns.

They were going to use sound effects added in post-production, but Mann (director) didn't like how any of it sounded, so they went with the actual audio recordings of the all the squibs/blanks being fired during filming of this scene..

Probably the greatest shootout scene in cinematic history I reckon. Definitely not a silly cops and robbers scene, instead the robbers are highly organised and methodical criminals as well as heavily armed.
One of the first movies I wanted to watch with my new 7.1.2 surround sound. Those gun shots shook my place 😂

Fun fact: They used real blanks when firing all those rounds. The driver told afterwards that he was nearly deaf after this scene because of the shooting.

In retrospect this scene is completely ridiculous.
Seems like a whole lot of civilian endangerment to kill a couple bank robbers, but cool scene all the same.
Nothing more adrenaline rushing than running from the cops. Minus the shooting of course. Not trying to die or kill anybody.

Big errors by Mann. Chris was on Neil's tail but then a good fifty yards behind him when Neil entered the car. Why did Casals switch to single shot to nail Chris? Several shots would have finished him. Lastly, Hanna should not have started WW 3 on the streets of L.A. for a bank robbery. He got his partner and several cops killed. Should have stayed silent and trailed them until they could have been apprehended in a more opportune area. When command found out Hanna was on coke when he commenced the assault, they would have thrown the book at him. Michael Mann and Pacino both admitted Hanna was chipping coke, but Mann figured the viewers would deduced same with Hanna's wild behavior throughout the movie.
Single shot is more accurate than spray n pray.
