Oh, the swing bridges on the Leeds and Liverpool! Every flavor - manual swing/manual gates, electric swing/electric gates, electric swing/manual gates, and manual swing/electric gates. It gets confusing - and we didn't get to THAT bridge! It's a lovely canal though (although some of the swing bridges are hard as heck to swing, and some of the locks are - trouble (especially Field Locks). We enjoyed our time there but didn't get very far so this year we're back on the L&L to get to some of the places we missed- not sure we will cross paths or if you're even still there.
Thanks for taking us along on this lovely cruise on another part of your great adventures, shame about the swing bridge which appears to have been over-designed by intelligent numpties for the right reasons. Sometimes, if there's a perfectly sturdy and efficient design out there, don't alter it and just do it. I hope that you are both doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Really? You have to ask yourself why every other electronically operated swing bridge in the country is no where near as complicated to operate. And it's not council owned it's privately owned by the developers who own the housing estate opposite and it's only going to get worse as the estate is due to be expanded 😲
They really are a discount grocer compared to most in the UK. Across the pond, we have Aldi and it really is a godsend for people on a limited budget. I love grocery shopping in the UK. I always end up eating better. We have nutritious food to be clear, but we have too many junk food options. It's hard to resist temptation. ;)
Thank you! We put together a couple of drone shot compilations a while ago. This is one of them > th-cam.com/video/VXU5iogbTSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DKcW9UaIGHfjLCsF
It would be lovely if they could standardize on one style of control panel with electronic controls accessible on the tow path side. Just imagine how much of a pain that is to a single-handed boater.
It happens on the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation, all the pedestals operate the same. This one appears to have been installed by someone other than CRT and over engineered IMHO.
That bridge! What a nightmare 😮
A degree in applied physics and the eyesight of the bionic man needed!!!
Great vlog as always keep up the good work stay safe and take care Jan and Tony
Thanks Peter 👍❤️
Great video, enjoy your travels, that swingbridge 😮.
Cheers! ❤️

Locks - going down you'll get wet standing at the back! 😁
Yes, still on the L&L waiting for Wigan Flight...

Thanks Stevie.
You're correct, simplest is usually the best, especially in this case when time is of the essence.
Tony and Jan thank you for the beautiful scenic cruise. Hope you have a wonderful summer
Thank you! You too!❤️❤️
Another brilliant vlog. Thank you for all the effort you put in, your drone work is fantastic
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you so much Elizabeth ❤️❤️
I think you'll find that swing bridge was getting vandalised so much that had to make like it is. Blame the vandals not the council.

The Boat is looking new and shiney. Did you folks have the outside detailed? if was me I would re-do the bridge operations.
Must be the sunlight! 😁 It had a polish last year haven't been able to do anything to it so far - not enough dry days!
