    On June 2020 the withdrawal fee is $5 (instead of $25) and the minimum withdrawal is $30 (instead of $50).

      Yeah, I can see that there would be a big use in letting people give tips to each other about great traders etc - I'd be reading it too :) I'll look into it. But then I have to think about where to put my focus, as, if there's too much going on in different places, I might end up missing stuff - I'm not sure. I know youtube plans to roll out new features around community and chatting within youtube itself, so i was sort of half waiting for that really.

    I have a question... if you are copying someone and they copy someone is there a double copy going on ? or do you only copy the direct trades ?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there - well the popular investors aren't allowed to copy other people anymore, so that's not as likely a scenario as it used to be.
      If you do copy someone who's not a pi, and they're copying someone else, then the trades of the person they're copying will show up in your portfolio too, as individual trades, not as a copy - you won't be able to see whether specific copied trades in your portfolio are from the person you're copying directly, or from the person they're copying.
      You have to take into account the $1 minimum trade size on copied trades too. There's a bit of maths to do there.
      If I copy person A with $1000, and they copy person B with 10% of their money, then I'm essentially copying person B with $100 (10% of $1000).
      If person B opens a trade, and that trade, after the maths is done, turns out to be valued at less that $1 at opening in my portfolio, then I won't actually copy that trade. I made a video which might help make a bit more sense of that.

    how do I go about entering a copy-trade and exiting? I understand to avoid copy open trades and I don't want to automatically sell everything when I move out of a copy-trade (ideally I would want to stop copying new buys but still copy sells and NOT automatically sell everything in the copy-trade allocation); this is especially important when I will want to rebalance my portfolio from high risk takers into less risk zones, assuming the high risk zone grows in overall value

    Hey Thomas, really good videos. I saw in another one of your videos you said the etoro currency conversion fees are actually quite competitive and theres really no need to convert to USD elsewhere before depositing. So is that something you've found out since making this video or do you still recommend checking locally for better rates? I'm converting from GBP.

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there - I asked and they basically told me that everyone has to check their local rates to know whether they're competitive... Sorry I can't be of more help. I did check their rates against the ones I can get in Malta and they were good enough that it wasn't worth the hassle of changing it any other way...

    Hi! Thank you very much for all your informative videos! They have been really helpful!
    I have a question regarding the fees which I'm hoping you could answer: How are the "positive fees" accumulated? I sometimes see these small amounts of money credited to my account and I see which trade they came from, but I can't quite figure out the mechanism behind when and what amount of money gets credited to a trade.
    Thanks again for all the detailed information! :)

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be credits - which are the other side over 'overnight fees' - some assets, when you hold them overnight or on weekends, actually give you credits for holding them instead of charging fees, when using leverage or in 'short' positions (sell trades) - you can find a list of which ones give credits on the main fees page. It could also be dividends, but I'm not sure where they show up still :)

    "Long (BUY), non-leveraged crypto, stock and ETF positions are not executed as CFDs and do not incur any fees." NOW THIS CONFUSED ME A LOT. ETORO SAID LONG POSITIONS ARE NOT EXECUTED AS CFD's. BUT OPENING A POSITION ON A STOCK IS CFD ALREADY. CAN YOU PLS ELABORATE ON THIS? THANKS

    Hi, I have a question. If use 1k dollars to copy someone's trades I will be copying all the trades he opens, but with smaller amounts of money for each trade compared tho his own trades. This means that the commissions are a lot more relevant to me than to him, right? Also a virtual account starts with 100000 dollars, if I start a copy with 1000 dollars on the virtual account, is it a good simulation of a 1000 copy on a real one or it is affected by less fees because of the account size?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say 'Commissions' do you mean the spread fees? Spread fees are calculated on units of each asset, so that's what the calculation must be made from. If he is using more money his units will be higher and spread fees higher, but they're in proportion to the amount he's spending.

    Hi, I have a question.
    If I trade currencies I open either a 'buy' or a 'sell' position and I make a bet on whether the value of the currency will rise or fall. But is this also the same for crypto currencies and stocks? Or do I when I invest in cryptos or stocks actually buy something? Like a part of a bit coin or a part of a company? What Is the safest you think, buy or sell position or actually buying the asset? If there already exists a video about this could you share the link? :) Thanks!

  • @Eksterminator
    @Eksterminator 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not sure if eToro makes most of the money on spreads...
    I think that they make the most of the money decreasing real value of the trades currently on rise.
    For an instance when Litecoin reached $540 they gave just $380 (or 320 ?? don't remember exactly).
    This is a huge money comparing to spreads I guess so...

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm not sure. Do you think they're purposefully doing that, or is it just the varying prices on different exchanges all sort of averaged out? They could be arbitraging, but I doubt it. But you never know...

    thanks for the videos, I understand that there is a conversion fee, trading fee etc. You have produced very useful videos and I have just started copy trading which looks promising. I was wondering for copying traders- is there a commission fee on the overall amount invested levied by etoro or the copied trader, I heard that the copied trader can make up to 2% of the overall amount and is there a deduction made on your profits too?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2% is based on the Assets Under Management (AUM) and is a compensation given only to the 'Elite' (green star) Popular Investors. As far as I know this 2% of AUM comes out of Etoro's profits rather than being levied from the copiers themselves.

    Last week I noticed that I incurred a large fee of $5 for a trader I copied with only $100. I enquired about this but the trader did not know and told me to check with etoro, who did not respond. After watching your video I realize that he is using a high leverage and holding trades long term. I wonder if I should stop copying this trader. I’ve only made 5% ( 62 dollars in 4 months) . Your thoughts?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially I copied quite a few traders, and I'm not copying any of them any more - the ones I'm copying now seem to be doing consistently well, so I'm sticking with them. It took about 8 months to start to find the ones who would do well consistently... I changes traders a lot... 5% in 4 months is less than the ones I'm copying have made me. quite a lot less - but I can't give advice - it's up to you really. I can only say what I'm doing, and the people I'm copying have made more than that so your situation doesn't sound great. You never know though - they might just start doing really well suddenly...

      Do you know, I have no idea... I've never used Paypal. Someone was talking about using revolut and converting to USD in revolut, and then funding eToro from the revolut USD account. Maybe you're talking about doing the same sort of thing in Paypal? Not sure how it all works - it seemed a smart idea though. You'd just need to check who has the most favourable exchange rate I think.

    If the withdraw fee is 25$, means that i have to withdraw 75$ to get 50$ or just that i can take 25$ withdrawing 50$? (Sorry for my english but im italian ahah)

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hi there - bascially, whatever amount you withdraw (it has to be a minimum of $50) they will deduct $25 as a processing fee. You will also be charged the exchange fee (unless you use dollars as your currency, which I doubt if you're in Italy :) )
      It's always $25 as a withdrawal processing fee, no matter how much you withdraw (at least that's what they currently say) So, if we forget about the exchange fee, then if you withdraw $100, you get $75. If you withdraw $10,000, you get $9975 (before exchange fee)
      Hope that helps a bit :)

  • @johnrowe9270

    Hi I wonder if you can help. I've just followed Jay on Etoro and lost around 3% over the past week. That's fine until I noticed that Etoro have said that he made 16% over the past week. I'm a bit confused at the discrepancy. Obviously it's something I don't quite understand as all of the people I copy made a loss over the last 7 days and apart from Jay have been reported as making profits between 60% and even over 100% when to me it was a loss. Thanks

    • @sbadrawi2011a
      @sbadrawi2011a 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably when you started copying Jay the price of the positions he had opened weeks and months earlier have gone up now and he sold it was a profit for him but a loss for you.
      For example, if Jay weeks ago bought a stock for $50 and the stock price now is worth $100, you copy him and you get charged the current price of the stock which is $100. If after a few days the price of the stock goes down to $90 and Jay decides to sell in order not to lose all the gains on the position, since you are copying him you also sell. Jay made a profit of $40 on the stock, you on the other hand lost $10 on the stock.
      This is why some people do not use the "copy open trades" function.
      I hope it makes sense for you!

      I think that most exchanges have spread fees and overnight fees and withdrawal fees from what I can see. What is the best avg holding time for a trader to copy?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there - I don't think there is one really... The only thing I'd say is that if someone uses a lot of leverage in their trades and holds onto them for a long time, that will create fees - so that's not too great. But they'll just be removed from your profit within that trade anyhow, and it's easy to see them. I copy Jaynemesis, and he trades very very frequently (opens and closes positions) but others trade much less frequently, but still make lots of profit. They all have their own individual style really. I just try to look at their historical statistics and see if they're making money overall. At least that's what I do so far... I do watch what they're trading, and if someone holds trades for a very long average time, then I would think that might mean that if I copy them and don't "copy open trades", it will take a while before my money is used up in active trades, but that's about it really. I'm not sure how else to judge that one :)

    Hi,
    I hope you have heard about the "Stop Loss" cancelled on all cryptocurrencies by eToro. Do you think it is sensible now to stop trading cryptocurrencies on eToro because of this decision? I have invested quite a lot in 3 of the cryptos. But I do have some investment Tech stocks as well. I was fearing that there might be big sell off of the cryptos because of this decision.
    Thank you for your help

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The crypto market is way way bigger than Etoro's trading share, so decisions on Etoro are highly unlikely to affect the global crypto market really. Maybe a tiny bit, but not to the point where it will cause wild fluctuations. At the moment I'm only trading cryptos through copytrading - I'm not doing it manually at the moment, as I don't want to spend all that time and worry watching my screen all the time with all that tension - I'm letting other traders do all that and just copying them :) It's going well for now. As for the stop losses, I used to rely on them when trading manually too, although they rarely got triggered - so now I guess you can either watch the screen more constantly, or have a longer term strategy based on fundamental analysis (is this crypto genuinely useful / valuable - do i think it will rise over the next 1 months?) and let it fluctuate up and down without worrying too much as you see a long term trend. OR copytrade and let other people do that same thinking (what I'm actually doing). I hope it goes well for you!

If you go to the help section, you will see all of the help topics, and there's a 'fees' page. check there for the spread fees. @@SocialTrading break even ? Why, when all the best traders have 30% average 12 month profits ( only 2018 was bad for a lot of them ) and you are copying for at least 3 years ?
      Should i copy trade or not ? I'm very interested in it and am prepared to take the risk even tho i think it's a no brainer that i will be in nice profit in three years time. What are your thoughts ?
      Don't worry, i will copy anyway i have already decided.

    I copied someone but there is fee on portfolio that i've copied. what does that mean?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      it means that on some trades they're doing, and therefore, you've copied, they are using leverage - when you use leverage, you have to pay tiny fees called 'overnight' and 'weekend' fees continuously while you hold the asset. When you're copying someone, since you copy the whole trade they make (including any leverage used on the trade) you also get charged these fees. The thing is, using leverage can mean higher fees, but also higher profit which cancels out the fees... You can read more about overnight fees in the 'fees' section which you'll find in the 'help' section.

  • @Geejayoh

    are the fees deducted before the profit shown or after?

    • @SocialTrading
      @SocialTrading  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before (I think) - the profit includes money which has been lost through fees. It's possible to check this in your virtual portfolio - just find a trader you've copied in there who has incurred any fees, stop the copy and see how much actually gets returned to your available balance. (I just tried this but it's Sunday, so I have to wait until tomorrow when the exchanges are open for the trades to actually close...) But as far as I know, the fees are already reflected in the profit. So... Before :)

      I made a video series about the ;'popular investor program' which shows the rewards and benefits popular investors get for having copiers:

    Please make a video on the sites you use to learn about trading, and why. Which ones you like the most and why.
    But different than this one th-cam.com/video/fCsZUgbG5Nk/w-d-xo.html which is very light talk.
    Would be a video like a guided tour on those sites, what you look for, which sections, what info, the ones you have account at and so on.
    Also a video on the videos on youtube you like the most and from which you've learned the most would be really cool to follow.
    Cheers, keep up the good work.

      Hi there - firstly thanks :)
      About the resources - I'll have a think about that and maybe see if I can do that as a video. For now though, someone asked me for good learning resources the other day and earlier today I asked another trader on Etoro to put together a list of all the resources she used when she was learning as she's struck me as very thorough and well-informed. Here's the post she made today on my wall which has a lot of resources linked in it : www.etoro.com/posts/0__entry__11fa02ea-1cfa-40a9-a03a-eec26db02564
      Hope you can open that link, and hope it helps!
