This is genuinely my favorite project on youtube. While the bigger channels have more content and maybe cooler cars this is a project that the regular guys out here could get behind and actually a "budget build"!! That term gets thrown around alot, then sponsors get involved and it quickly becomes something that we can not replicate ourselves. This is totally a great build, and I think when you get this done your going to be surprised by its value. Thanks for the content Josh keep up the good work!!
You need to hurry up and stop making videos on this little bronco or I'm going to end up buying one lol!!! Love this little truck!! Awesome job and another awesome video!!
It makes sense to spend whatever the project is worth to you. It’s your project, not anyone’s else. You are just gracious enough to take us along for the ride. Much appreciated.
In the midst of all the $100k+ builds on TH-cam lately, here's a real-life project on an attainable classic, by an already talented guy clearly learning as he goes. Josh, you're far from an idiot for spending money on a $500 Bronco II- even if you don't recoup your investment, you've saved a bit of automotive history. The hell of it is now I'm casually looking for a Bronco II to restore myself- that or a Dodge Raider. Love these smaller 2 door off-roaders- well done!
This is some of the best content on TH-cam. I look forward to your postings. Nostalgia meets talent meets what a normal guy could do. Soooo Good. Thank you. Make that Bronco buck!~
I've been watching body work being done on TH-cam for quite a while now and this is the first demonstration I've seen of the use of spot welder. I don't understand why I haven't seen spot welders used more. I know doing the rosette thing is necessary a lot of the time, but still, a spot welding seems like a quicker and easier way where it can be used. Glad to see the HF spot welder actually works.
For the prices I've seen some of these old Bronco II's going for lately, I doubt that any time or money will be wasted on this project. It's all looking really good!! 💯🏆👍 Can' wait to see some of the goodies from your father.
Love the editing, lets us know what you're talking about even if it is out of frame. Also the corrections - it's nice to know that you care about using the right terms. Using the wrong ones happens all the time in front of a camera, but making sure the right ones are in the final video means a lot.
Cavity wax just sounds so wrong lol I think you’re doing amazing work on that… And those are fun little Rigs to rip around in… $500 plus your costs will still be cheaper than buying anything comparable… Keep up the good work
Shooting compressed air at the seam, as you use the flapper, can also help it stay cool. This looks good man. You're a pretty good welder, so I disagree with the last video where ya said you're not. Thanks for your service, and thanks for this great content. Stay safe.
Hell of a job for a home garage panel replacement! Looks like that harbor freight spot-welder really did great job too. Excited to see a coat of paint on this thing, should look like a new truck!
Loving this build. Reminds me of working on my old dodge magnum and Plymouth valiant. With all that new carpet and adhesive and paint it probably does have that new car smell 🤣 I can’t wait to see it painted. I think it needs a glasspack like the Ranger haha
Skills on the welding! The Bronco is on it's way to new adventures soon! I had a "beater" car like that a few years ago. 1989 Dodge Daytona, picked it up on eBay for $500. I definitely went "overboard" in "fixing it". New brake/fuel lines/fuel tank (was a Massachusetts car), new alloys/tires, new stereo and added a factory trip computer. Probably dumped another $1700 in it, but once it was done (aside from the major gash in the passenger door), it looked/worked/drove great! I kept that beater ride for another 4 years until a job relocation and I donated the car to charity. 20000 miles on that ride during those 4 years.
The idiot is the one who buys the bronco II and lets it rot. You are doing an amazing job. You've really motivated me to approach some of the stuff I've wanted to do with mine. I'd drop all the money I can into mine. Unfortunately it's having the money to throw at it that's my problem. Thanks for the videos on the B2..
Doing a little Crypto Mining in the background? What are you mining? Nice job, looks great! Very impressive plus I learned about the cavity wax. Take care, -Jon
I have one of these exactly same but 89 model am 17 and don’t know what am doin am trying to do some rust repair and it’s really hard to weld this channel is like helping me get through some stuff as it’s a bit similar but like the rough way
That stuff is called Celotex. Acoustic sound deadening, made from recycled news print, and more expensive than baltic birch plywood. model train base board too.
Another great video! Regarding the cavity wax, when I was a Ford technician, Ford issued a recall on newer model Ford Fusions where we had to coat the electric power steering motor bolts with that stuff, the bolts are exposed to water, salt, road grime 24/7. Anyway, it’s outstanding stuff, whatever it coats, nothing gets thru it as long as it’s not messed with.
It won't be a $500 Bronco when you finish it. I don't remember the year model of your Bronco but I'm fairly sure robots weren't making all those spot welds yet. I think there were still humans using a spot welder not much different than the one you bought to weld up the panels but I could be wrong.
That on a full afull size Bronco at least the rear fenders/quarter panels are called bedsides I fiubd out wheb=n I had to replace mine to fiberglass with a bulge to clrar my rear tires when my suspension used its up travel from compresing from a big droop
Looks nice Josh! I remember my first panel fondly. I'm still an amateur too, but I have done a fair bit of welding and grinding panels and floors into my buddy's projects over the past 15 years. It's very satisfying! Grinding and cutting are my best fab skills. Welding... well I'm just OK. My buddy always called those "rosette" welds plug welds. Dunno who's correct though.
Re: money - all that matters is that YOU love the results. I put 3 times the resale value of my 74 Celica into it (frame off resto). 8 years later, worth every penny.
Hey Josh I would really like to see a cost analysis on the total cost of the project. Im looking at an 84 bronco 2 right now and I'd like to get ahead of the curve.
They are coming up in value FAST. I got really lucky, finding mine for $700. I have about $3500 into mine after the EFI and interior refresh. Then about $500 worth of body panels. I'm hoping it will fetch $6-7k after paint, wheels and tires. I'll probably break even, hopefully. Lol

Nice work. Remember, “a grinder and paint makes me the welder I ain’t” 😂
Hey Josh, you are knocking this rebuild out of the park, will be a great little truck when it’s finished.
Hahaha finding the fire behind you while editing! That is terrifying. Your caption gave me a good laugh

I loved how the Ranger turned out. I can't wait to see the end result of the bronco. Great work Josh.
Agreed! I've driven through Tulsa three or four times since the Ranger sold. I haven't spotted the Ranger yet, but I always look.
@@DragPakMerc I was taught how to drive and drive stick in my dad's 83 ranger.

Great job Josh. Bronco is turning out.
You will see at 15:50 Josh lights a fire under his own a$$ to get the Bronco to paint.

OH DAMN! THAT FIRE! WTF!!! Sheeeit. Glad you're all good, man. That's insane.
I'm not religious or anything but maybe your dads looking out for you with that fire! Good work man! Much love!

l've never welded before, but after watching you, I think I would have no problem doing a small job. Love the project and thanks for sharing.

Love your work old mate and enjoy your sense of humour , keep up the good work Cheers
I've found that some of that new car smell comes from the paint burning off of the hot manifold.

If you squint it's mint ,sounds like a shirt I'm gonna buy in the future
Love the explanations and details you provide in your videos. Please keep doing that as it is very informative!! Keep up the great work Josh!
Great video Josh, really enjoying this build. Very good information and detail for the shade tree mechanic.
All that really matters is that ur happy with the end result. After all its ur bronco
That is a cool project. Definitely looking foward to the finished product. Thanks for sharing your work. 👍🏻👍🏻 And thank you for your service!!!
Comment, you show how to do it all, warts and all. Makes me think I could do that. Thanks!

I love this restoration job, you are awesome, really talented
It looks great!!
Never been first before... 33 seconds after it posted! I need to get a life... but first let's see what Josh has for me!
You are doing a great job!....WELL worth the effort.
Great video! Always looking forward to the next one!
Love the Bronco, love the channel!
the fire!!!
Well worth the time and work.
Love this project, looking forward to the next step, keep these coming!
Great work brother. Good how to on rust repair.
Very nice work! Way better than I do
A great channel to watch is VEHCOR. He always uses cavity wax in all his rebuilds cuz he lives up north in salty roads country

Cavity wax allllll the things. Vehcor speaks highly of it on his GMs in the Chicago area.
You should if put some sound deadening pieces behind the panels in the back.
Great JOB 👏
120.. 121, whatever it takes.
Nice job!

Zinc weld through primer is good for bare metal that you are going to weld together [ spot welds, or plug welds ].
Hey I see you're from Pittsburgh. I'm a local bronco 2 guy. Fixing to do the same panels soon.

Probably a good idea to seal that MDF before installing. That stuff is like a sponge with moisture.
The carpet too is like that, so it might not be too bad.
I need a bronco 2 or old ranger now🤣🤣🤣🤣
👌minty
Loving it
Any update?? Loving this restoration!
Unfortunately it's been parked since the quarter panel. We're in-between houses and shops at the moment.
Yikes on the fire. Do you know what burned?
Mate shouldn't you put seam sealer? 13.26 , just asking. And why did you not do a coat of rust converter on the 22:48 ??
Can't wait to see the paint! Going original color or something else? It's a ford so...pearl essence? 😆
I'm thinking going origional colors.
@@TheFracturedRooster Nice! Great job on the body work and the channel!
What was that fire behind you ?
Did you use new glass in the rear or reuse the originals?
Reused the orgionals
Random fire starts in shop.....no big deal. Ha Ha
Hi
I’m a couple years late but is this the last $700 Bronco video?
Oops, there goes the new headliner
