When you used your hand to brush off the ragged burs from the spot weld holes , it made me flinch.
Perfect timing, getting ready to do this on my 1967 Firebird 400.
Doin my 68 firebird conv too.. 😊
For some of the misalignment you could try an old pipe fitters trick. I don't know if there's a proper name for it but its apiece of flat stock with a v-notch cut in one end that looks like a fishtail. Weld one side of the tail to one side of the gap and use the handle to pry across the gap to get alignment.
I love the clean and strip wheels instead of the wires wheels. I feel like they do a better job and are a bit safer. Either way, stay safe and have fun.
Jeff - Hope you and the family all have a very Merry Christmas. Thanks for all you do.
Nice job.
Thanks for sharing the process.
Take care, Ed.
Good job, great work, love the old Ford!
I think your doing a great job looking good 👍
Making the best out of a rough situation And I know you know how to tweak out the rough spots! Good job, Jeff! 🏁
Floors and rockers are next on my 62 C10 project, making it mandatory to watch every repair panel video available on YT!
Thanks!
That's a lot of work! Way to stick to it.👍
Hey Jeff I'll do ya two better on your next floor patch give "Steel-It" a try it's a poly weld through paint that your kids will love welding with it applied, an when done finish with "fluid film", you'll never worry about rust again, I gt both on the tropical river web site. Both are worth Their weight in gold.
1st on your you tube channel and 1st in my heart ❤️
Hate to break it to ya, big boy, but Jeff's already married.
Do u have a video on setting up the mig welder to do the floor pan with a cheap harbor freight welder?
Do you recommend gaps or no gaps when welding floor panels
So my main question is, how are you keeping from setting the underside of the car on fire? Serious question as I have had it happen while doing other repairs, like exhaust work for example..
So your pan is cut exact to the hole in the floor you make or is there any overlap?
is it better to overlap the old metal and seam weld to it or is it better to cut and but?. I am about to weld some new pans into my 70 fastback. Is cut and but strong enough?
Always a tradeoff on the rust prevension
"Electric Glue Gun"
i am going to get a 1976 ford thunderbird
😃👍
Learning to weld a floor pan For my 87 camaro because i dont want no starngers fingers in my ol girl. Lol
I hear you I feel the same way.
Good old 18v dewalt.
Yeah having a problem with finding a battery, AmmoZon has a 20v adapter for $16.
@@stevenkryptonite1641 truthfully the cheap amazon batteries have lasted longer than the 2.5amp dewalt 20v batteries that came with the stem adaptor. Poor tools are wore out so I finally had to replace most of them but 10 years on the job site and 8 in the home shop.
@@Holledel I know I'm just throwing it out there to extend the life of a great old tool.. most of my old tools are still great but the battery situation sucks, I came across this adapter after I got the newer impact. So wasn't like I went out buying batteries. But helps keep an old tool running..
Ear plugs wouldn't be a terrible idea.
Is this complete? Tac welds are just the start, right? I'm not a welder, just trying to understand.
Not by a long shot. We still have to go in and complete the welds, but I want to be able to teach Jackson, the owner of the car. How to weld using that toe board.
Got it, thanks for the reply! I always learn something from you, thanks
Every tool is a hammer unless it’s a screwdriver then it’s a chisel 😅
Even a screwdriver can be hammer.
You have made this job a lot harder than it needs to be first you should of used a strip an clean disk then used the cut and but method to put your panel in.
