Yep. They could have had the Scorpion vz. 61 as a machine pistol instead of the Raffica, it would have fufilled the soviet firearm as well as the automatic pistol archetype. Hopefully they add a soviet secondary in the upcoming seasons. The game really shipped in a half-assed state for firearm representation.

@Brandon M QBZ83 doesn't exist. The QBZ naming system didn't come into use until the mid/late 90's and the weapon depicted in the game wasn't in the hands of soldiers until the early 2000's. You can very clearly tell this guy not only loves his job, but is also understanding of mistakes that people may make about guns. Too often you see a gun expert review a game and they're like "well 5.56 ballistics are very balanced into one direction made to completely bounce around any impact point on a tango target and taking them out so hitting someone more than 1 time is unrealistic" This guy understands what games are, and understands that games sometimes have to be unrealistic, and even very obviously plays games himself.
i feel like with the spas-12, it makes sense that they aren't using the pump action aspect, because that is usually reserved for shells that dont release enough pressure to cycle the receiver in its automatic function
@@JustSumGuy01 The Vietnam scene is fake, you're character is living fake memories due to MK Ultra, so it does kinda make sense, but at the same time I'm fairly sure Treyarch didn't mean for that to be a nod to that and are just lazy lol
I hate that shit. They had the chance to put in a period accurate Colt 727 but of course just throw in an M4 with a modern rail and optics despite the gun not entering service until the mid 90's. Why do developers make period games just to toss in modern weaponry?
I’d love to see experts react to the cursed attachments for the guns, obvious example suppressed magnum and its 12 round cylinder even tho it had 6 holes
Well suppressing a revolver isn't impossible.. Just hard xD the only one I know of where they've done it successfully is with the nagant m1895 and that's because it has a 2 step action, the first being it presses the cylinder up close and tight against the barrel sealing the gap that usually is what makes suppressing a revolver hard. I'm sure they've come up with other ways in modern times, like the revolvers that looks just like your typical semi auto pistol but actually has a cylinder magazine on the "underbelly" of the pistol hidden by a hatch-ish mechanism, allowing it to be Supressed. It is a revolver, however not your classical one :P The 12rnds in a 6rnd cylinder however.. Jeez.. Never been much for alot of the CoD games.. The ones I've actually played are the "older" ones with a real solid story line, such as the first Black ops :P
@@Pre.C_King yea, I am aware of that particular revolver. But it has never been in a cod where you can attach a suppressor to it as far as I’m aware. It is curious that no modern revolvers have the same mechanism to seal the cylinder gap. Probably cause they want to keep it simple.
Treyarch on the Krig 6 Designer 1: "Ah a 1980s rifle named 'Ak 5' " Designer 2: "It's a Swedish gun, we should..." Designer 1: "Let's make it a Soviet gun because it has AK on it" Designer 2: "But, Sweden is a...." Designer 1: "Did I stutter? I SAID LET'S MAKE IT A SOVIET GUN!" Designer 2: "ok... Imma rename it so they wouldn't notice...."
The krig 6 is based on the first version of the Swedish Ak 5. The green colour and the fire selection having a P for semi automatic (stands for patronvis) give it away. There are also the 5.56 flashguard and the raider stock that are based on the updated version of the ak5 (ak5c).

The more important bit about the AKs-74u with a drum: the Russians never even produced a drum in 5.45, not even for the RPK-74, and tuck to extended 45-round magazines. Cause they realized drums were cumbersome and unreliable. And speaking of the revolvers, the only modern military use of revolvers (or the most well known at least) was by the GIGN. They used both scoped and unscoped .357 magnum revolvers in their operations.
DesertAvenger Actually you're wrong. The RPK-16 has a 95 or 96 drum (5.45x39mm) created by Izhmash (Kalashnikov Concern in present day) in 2018. But you're correct about no drum was created or even planned by the Soviet during the days of AK-74 and RPK-74.
Isn’t that restricting as it can only carry 6 rounds and might not withstand the requirements of today’s urban conflicts which exchange of gun fire can last for 30 minutes if not hours and multiple rounds would be needed?
@@1anre that's because the GIGN often gets into situations where multiple rounds are not a possibility, like hostage situations, etc. where one well placed shot is all they have. Plus, they no longer actively use the revolvers in their operations.
They don’t want to make everything real intentionally, it is not a Sim, it’s a videogame. Trust with the kind of $Billion dollar budget they have, they can employ Armory historians with Phds all over the world like this chap to advice them properly on the period correct models of weapons used in those times. But they don’t want that, hence the reason they made some not so perfect inclusion of weapons in the game.
Please bring this guy back! As somebody who really loves firearms and video games it’s good to see somebody that actually understands both so fluently! Made my day :)
That “Super Villain” looking building in the beginning is what it looks to be an early warning ground based radar. Used for the detection of Ballistic Missiles.

Tho when u consider the colt m4 exists as an xm4 experimental rifle The plausible reason is that blops agents are using experimental stuff to test out their effectiveness. Same with the kgb as seen with the weapons on display here.
Have this guy react to the +400 realistic firearms in Hotdogs horseshoes and Hand grenades. This actually simulates the Spas-12 switching between pump and semi-auto.
@Daniel Wong EFT literally has the most accurate ballistics and ammunition system of any current FPS. The health system however is not, for balancing reasons. It would be a bit shit if every time your armor tanked a 7.62 round your ribs broke and you're as good as dead anyway.
@@G-Mastah-Fash Not how game design works at all. Gameplay should be the primary concern. Realism always comes after gameplay, even in games that aim to be as realistic as possible.
@Daniel Wong Ah okay, so taking a painkiller to fix a broken leg is realistic in your book I take it. Stop bullshitting. Also the ballistics are correct, a lot of chestplates will stop rifle rounds, breaking your ribs in the process but they'll be stopped. The fact that in the game you can just carry on after such an event is attributed to the health system, which I already addressed. I'm personally fine with the health system as is as it makes the game realistically playable.
The lack of pistols in the game is really getting under my skin. And I know they are just holding back on them to put in later to cater to this “Games Service” model. Even though it’s not under a season pass, you need to have it right up front like MW2.
It's neat that Jonathan is an expert on guns but he's also clearly well versed in video games. He seems willing to let some realism slide if it means you get a game that's more fun it.
This just makes you appreciate how good the weapon selection was in the first BO... even if there were a few Anachronist ones, it had some really representantive Cold War ones like the Uzi, Mac, RPK, HK21, FAL and even the rare G11.
Plausible explanation: They looted those from the cia agents who infiltrated them already either conficated them during interrogation, or just kept them after killing them.
Vietnam, middleeast , latin america, africa and other conflict zones could easily provide american weapons to the soviet as well as the usual clandestinely activities like smuggling
For anyone curious, the U in AKS-74U (AKC-74У in Russian) is an abbreviation of the word "Укороченный" [ ukorochen'niy] which literary means "shortened", and the S (С) stands for "Складной" [sklad'noy] which means ''folding".
So funny the multiple .50bmg rounds to the head part. He puts it very lightly that there would be factors other than penetration like his head snapping back, what he meant to say was the force from the round would decapitate the victim if the helmet somehow withstood the round.

It is a revolver, however not your classical one :P
The 12rnds in a 6rnd cylinder however..

@Daniel Wong Ah okay, so taking a painkiller to fix a broken leg is realistic in your book I take it. Stop bullshitting. Also the ballistics are correct, a lot of chestplates will stop rifle rounds, breaking your ribs in the process but they'll be stopped. The fact that in the game you can just carry on after such an event is attributed to the health system, which I already addressed. I'm personally fine with the health system as is as it makes the game realistically playable.
