St Ives, Cornwall, Walking Tour: Bathed in sunshine, paddle, walk the beaches and streets with us!

  • Are you missing St Ives? Why not pop the kettle on and join us for a 'view-cation'! as we paddle through the warm sea on Porthminster Beach at low tide, all the way to the stumps of the original wooden pier. We don't stop there, retracing our steps to Pedn Olva Hotel and a wander through the town to Porthmeor and St Nicholas Chapel.
Filmed on 2nd June 2020, the streets are still quiet due to Coronavirus restrictions but the summer sunshine was warm and welcoming. People are starting to emerge to enjoy the town's beaches and get some exercise. Some of the local shops are open, but not all.
Feel like you are taking every step with us as we wonder through St Ives on a beautiful June day.

I love this long video. I also love that it’s silent and lets you hear the sounds of the environment you’re walking around in. Too many people who do these great walking around videos blast music during the whole video so you can’t hear anything. I hope you guys do more like this like in port Isaac and more of those great storm videos. Thanks guys

Of all the places of worship I have seen, the chapel on the hill is ,for me , the best: Sea, sky, mankind off in the distance. A place to think things through, and get a proper perspective on the world and things truly important. Thank you for showing this place.

Wow!! You guys have surpassed yourselves with this one! Just stunning, with only the sound of the ocean and the seagulls. I even had a good laugh as that builder swore by the scaffolding! St.Ives is one of my many favourite places to visit in Cornwall. I have been going there for over 50 years. Some of my favourite restaurants are no longer there though, opposite Smeatons Pier. I was there in March for a week travelling all over. A couple of nice cold beers in The Sloop Inn went down a treat, followed by fresh fish and chips. I always park on Smeatons Pier, it seems easier than anywhere else. I came back home to Dorset from Perranporth where I was staying just a few hours before we went into lockdown. Little did I know that as I stopped in the Jamaica Inn at Bodmin on the way home for a pint, that it would be my last beer in a pub for at least 3 months!!
Thank you both for posting this, I felt like I was back there in heaven again for an hour. Just brilliant!! Can you make some more longer videos just like this one please? - Of more of my favourite Cornish places, such as Holywell Bay, Tintagel, Boscastle, Perranporth, Polperro, The Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, Bedruthan Steps, Crantock, St Michaels Mount, Port Isaac.... oh the list is endless, as you could spend an entire lifetime exploring the pure heavenly magic that is Cornwall. Next time I come down there very soon, I want to take you two out for a drink, if you will let me!!

How warm or cold is that water on the coast of England?, the beach looks nice though, can't be as cold as say the coast of Ireland or Scotland, maybe almost like a beach in New Hampshire or Maine in the US, and that water is cold, I'm sure the water is not warm like Florida or the Caribbean, St Ives looks like the best part of the UK to be at with the beaches, wouldn't mind visiting sometime if I could ever make it to England from Connecticut, US

It's bizarre and empty, not sustainable obviously but anyone in Day Glo orange is unnecessary. New tungsten and tin Mines along with with the Duchy behaving like reasonable landlords...
The Duchy is not an easy landlord, no arguments or collective legal movement. Dad took them to Court in 76, last drought, before they stopped bringing in Water Browsers to drain his well.
