When I met my husband in October of 1975, he told me he had an extra ticket to Elton John at Dodger Stadium (first day)...that was our first date :)

Never knew that they didn’t have any show at Dodger Stadium from ‘64 till this concert. Cool that Elton ended the “ban” on concerts at Dodger Stadium

Anyone who can play in front of 55,000 people has my utter respect. The stage fright would be paralysing. I guess you just have to pretend you are singing in your living room, otherwise the whole thing would crush you with overwhelming immensity. Yet, if you love singing, you just get out there and sing your heart out like your life depends on it, and in some cases, it does. Bless Elton and Bernie, soundtrack for a generation.

It’s funny how small the stages were back in those days even at the big stadium shows. No projection screens. It was more about the communion of people and their bond of music. A long lost magical time.

it’s the radio announcers box at Dodger Stadium. It’s a pretty good view and the route into it has the most security so I can see why they chose it

That was Emmylou Harris singing Amarillo at the start, never knew two of my favorite singers had any connection 🙂

At the end of her life, I’m betting Emmylou can legitimately claim that she sang with everybody. Which is a GREAT thing, actually.

lol there's a LOT of great acting in this video from everyone. he'd just nearly killed himself 2 days before but everyone is happy go lucky. there's enough first hand accounts from people who knew her that she was pretty shitty

Idk (it’s probably just me) but I feel like in that shot of Bernie looking at Elton at around 6:53 you can kind of see that there was a sense of worry in his eyes. I’ve always felt that it might be due to the fact that the Elton tried to kill himself days prior. I also remember reading somewhere that, according to a member of his former band, no one was really certain that Elton would make it; that it was “touch and go.”

Seeing that weenie turkey of a manager John Reid in this reminds me of the shade Bernie Taupin threw while promoting Rocketman: that Reid was “just lucky they chose somebody as good-looking as Richard Madden to play him.” Well me-owed, Bernie.

@TELEVISIONARCHIVES thats so sad! Esp now that they say Elton and his mother are having a rift so deep, that shes not even seen her grandsons.....I pray Elton finds a way to set aside what ever has happened as his Mum is getting uo there and once shes gone he may regret the path taken away from her and shes only getting older too we cant get time back.once it's gone. His boys will miss out on one of the best relationships a child has, the unconditional love of a grandparent..there's no other quite like it !❤

Don't assume why he had problems with her. Some parents could be completely different when you're young and they leave scars even though they change as they get older. There was a closeness between them too. She went to his concerts and there are pictures of them together. You can't say the same with father. No pictures of Elton and him together,he didn't come to Elton's concerts. Even had a second family where he was the perfect father. Fred was a better father to him.
