- If you like Kiss, or you're interested in Kiss, but you don't love Kiss, this compact one-hour show could be perfect for you! Taped from the seats of the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (later Verizon Wireless, now closed), Kiss headlined the one-day KROQ "Weenie Roast" festival.
Although Kiss can be cheesy (and deliberately so), they are also a solid rock n roll band with two lead guitars, and that lets them play guitar harmonies - which I love!
And yes, I got caught around the encore break, but I really lucked out: the guard wanted a copy of the tape more than he wanted to bust me, and I had a notepad in my pocket to take his address - you'll probably see a camera duck and hear the conversation on the tape!
And it looks like the camera I used had a pretty amazing (digital) zoom. I purchased a small RCA-branded Hi8 camera just for this show (and returned it). I covered it entirely in black photo tape to make it less visible! Enjoy... the best!

This was their very first gig in make up when they got back together. A warmup for Tiger stadium. Sweet.
I was 'almost' there!! A San Diego radio station had 'name that riff '' KISS edition to win tix to this show. I would have been able to have seen them before all my friends in Michigan would have on the 1st Official Reunion Tour show on June 28th.. Well I got them all right ... except 'Nowhere to Run' off Killers because I had not heard that album... dammit.. Oh well. we saw them when they got to LA Forum and San Diego..

This is how it should of been.. The 4 original members, no lip syncing, no backup tracks, playing at their best... If anyone thinks that Tommy Thayer at his best can get anywhere near this version of Ace... then you living in a dream world....

@@charlesgiosano7767 When you actually spell it correctly... Tommy was showing Ace how he changed the style that Kiss was playing to at the time.. NOT the classic way the original 4 played the songs...same with Peter
Hard to remember over 250 solo's after 17yrs! Doubt anybody could. ACE was always authentic!

@@jmilne5751 Wrong. Tommy had to sit one on one with Ace and teach him the solos again. BUT, I agree with you. At the conclusion of this tour, they should have called it. And I really don't have a problem with Tommy or Eric. But let's face it, the second 25 years wasn't exactly necessary.
We are still celebrating KISS IN 2021 ( enough said). The bands from the 2000' s need to learn from Kiss ,and Motley Crue on how to open the show.The opening of a show is suppose to be incredibly exciting!!!!

I was front row,.in front of Paul,.I almost had some of the fire drip down on me,.show was brilliant..I was with KORN,.I kept telling over the years how bitchn KISS use to be,.and that if they ever get back together KORN should open ,.it’d be a great gig,..it Happened.X
