I've said it before, but your knowledge of the system and how it works is the difference between your channel and, literally, any other channel. Most would just swap another power supply in and call it good, but you go the extra mile to figure out why the power supply failed. I love Joey's Channel and he's still learning but you are literally light years ahead of him because of your experience. I run a small engine repair business and don't just replace carburetors because they aren't working, I rebuild the original carburetor because there's no reason to replace something when you know how to fix the original problem. You sir deserve way more credit than you're given and should have many more subscribers than you do, but you'll get there.
Thanks for the kind words! I do enjoy the challenge of power supply repair. For me, it's also not practical to buy a new supply every time I encounter a dead one. My profit margin is tight!
@@ToltecMerc that's why I rebuild original carburetors versus just slapping replacement on the machine. You demonstrate a skill and knowledge that most people don't have
@@ToltecMerc Im an old subscriber, I know for this channel since times of less than 1k subs. Whenever I get a chance to mention this channel to others I do it, exceptional skills and well documented process.
When I receive a PC SMPS (one of those vertical or horizontal mini tower types) and I find the fault, I tell myself: the troubleshooting method that I learned with the toltecmerc master: it works, that is, I test in diode mode first without power, I then power and measure voltages and record all my measurements by hand in a personal notebook (kept in my desk drawer) to refer to later when I receive another one from the same manufacturer even if the models have small changes in the part numbers of the components used. Another way to say it: Thanks to you, I don't fear receiving any switching power supply from some electronic device for a checkup or diagnosis. When I first saw the length of the video I thought: What the hell happened to that MoBo? Did the CPU die? Excellent double repair. Thank you very much for sharing sir. It made my day because I like long videos (length). All the best.
Wishing you a very happy and successful 2025 with many more satisfying repairs. im addicted to fixing these now, so I know how you feel! keep up the good work. I want to find a way to get the daughter board to sync with other motherboards. will work on that.
@ToltecMerc nice! I did as well. Added the Kunkin p184 , infiray p2 pro and an isolated ac power supply. Hoping to up my game with power supply repair. Learning a lot from your videos. Thank you for sharing the knowledge sir.
I think the device you are seeing is my DC Electronic Load. That is not a power supply. It acts a resistance for the PS5 power supply that I am working on. It is the best way to test that a supply is working properly without being inside the piece of equipment.
I knew it wasn't going to be an easy power supply fix when you fixed the console in less than 10 mins. Had a similar issue on a 400FR where fuse and fusible resistor were fine but the same pfc mosfet was damaged and one took heat on the board but it was fine.
Hello, I noticed something while watching your videos. You found the 3.3V or 5V coil in the regulator circuits of an electronic board without powering it by measuring it with a multimeter. Can you explain how you did it?
All of the newer HDMI encoder ICs for the PS5 will be marked Nuvoton. Panasonic sold that division of their company. It's still the same part, just a different name.
Thank you! The automatic translation of my voice to other spoken language is handled by TH-cam. It is a new feature and only translates a small number of languages at the moment. I do not see Turkish listed as an option. I do apologize.
Hello sir what is your background in work? Did you took engineering when you a lot younger? Your very very good in electronics… mostly in power supply faults/ power rails
I have worked as Television Broadcast Engineer for almost 40 years. I have worked on lots of things over that time. Now I just work on what I enjoy. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hello , I have 4 PS5 boards (not working) one of them might be APU issue , is it possible to send for you for repair ? I live in Abu Dhabi , looking forward for your reply , thanks 😊
Id still throw probaly any tracer out...Know it had some burnt plug stuff...it probally dont matter and yeah dude your ferrites could be 1meg or might be 10-20megs who knows...

Great repair video. Question: usually a power supply supplies power but you are using it as a load, please explain that concept. Thanks
I think the device you are seeing is my DC Electronic Load. That is not a power supply. It acts a resistance for the PS5 power supply that I am working on. It is the best way to test that a supply is working properly without being inside the piece of equipment.

I don't mind power supply repair. Most people avoid them entirely. I have a whole box of PS5 supplies waiting to be fixed. Thanks for stopping by!
Good job mate 👏
Thanks for watching!
32:08 what music is this?
It's called "Skylines" by Anno Domini Beats. It's some free TH-cam music.
@ToltecMerc thanks for the info I'll look at it right now,!
Im from UK never heard of a PS having 'lightning damage' do you nean a surge?
I mean that there was probably a lightning strike nearby that induced a spike on the power line which caused the damage.
Hello, I noticed something while watching your videos. You found the 3.3V or 5V coil in the regulator circuits of an electronic board without powering it by measuring it with a multimeter. Can you explain how you did it?
Hi , nice videos !!
I have a problem with my Ps5 Bios , do you have a good dump for a CFI-1016A to send me or sell me ?
Thanks you so much
I don't have any 1016 dumps as those are European consoles and I don't really ever see those models.
Good job 😊 but why you use the HDMI ENCODER Brand NUVOTON?
I think Panasonic sold the Chip design to Nuvoton
All of the newer HDMI encoder ICs for the PS5 will be marked Nuvoton. Panasonic sold that division of their company. It's still the same part, just a different name.
Nice fix. One thing that triggers my OCD is the squeaky chair. A drop of oil might fix that. 😅😂
Thanks! I may need to tighten some screws on the chair.

So, thats where that liquid came from when you opened the supply
Possibly. I did not notice anything on the PCB though.

Id still throw probaly any tracer out...Know it had some burnt plug stuff...it probally dont matter and yeah dude your ferrites could be 1meg or might be 10-20megs who knows...
Hi, could you tell me what kind of paste you use for the back of the mosfet?
It is a thermally conductive grease compound. It's called AA-Grease 04. I got it from eBay.
