When you're done with the main details, I'd love for you to talk a bit about how to handle some of the smaller encounters in the book, or even give examples of a few random encounters and how to make the most of them. For example, the book really doesn't offer a lot of hooks to get the players to go after the Stone Giants in comparison to every other giant type. Or how to use some of the many random dragon encounters in the book to help expand the player's options, such as the random green dragon that attacks the airship, or some of the random metallic dragons they can encounter, like Silixia the young brass dragon.
@@dougcole15 So I was going to talk about this in my next video, but I think it is possible to run chapter 11 and kraken's gamble simultaneously. You just need to move Drylund to the final room in kraken's gamble so the party doesn't interact with him until the end of the module.
Very concise and well presented, as always. I would personally suggest the DM should delay the giant lords ambush so the party has the chance to explore around and find out about each lord's personalities and how to best persuade them.

I've been running storm king alongside this series and I can definitely say these videos help a good bit. My party just got to maelstrom last session so I was wondering when this video was going to come out. 🤣

I think one of the devs said they were inspired by King Lear when they made the Storm Giant household with the dead Queen; 2 older daughters that were cold liars, and the youngest being tasked with saving the King. When I ran my campaign I had to juggle Serissa's nature, with her duty to be a strong monarch in her father's stead. She has a tremendous amount of power(even more so over giants) while sitting on the throne; and with the Ordening happening, she cannot appear weak at court under neutral giant scrutiny lest it embolden her rivals to take direct action. In private she is as the module describes, a young noble who desperately wanted to see more of the world's wonders but has become conflicted with her mother's death out in that same world. My party gained an audience by not waiting. 99 out of 100 PC parties won't sit and wait. I think they sent an invisible tressym that was Find Familiar'd to scout the palace and it found Serissa on the throne(can see invisible) and they had a fun RP session with her asking 'Yes' 'No' questions to her visitor and finishing with a reassuring 'Don't Be Scared' *wink*. I think having a positive scene before the official audience really gave me some leeway to hammer the party with some Giants First propaganda in court and them not freak out. After some whizbang projections from the throne that truth told the party's history of giant slaying (hill & fire) the assembled giants began to bay for blood. The monk's Giantslayer began to glow and it was force ripped from their hand. Speech, monologue, 'if you be true friends of giants you won't be needing this' etc etc; and she broke it in two. The party swore allegiance to be 'a friend of giants' and would investigate the conspiracy with no giant to interfere. I think the monk was also Geas'd by Claugiyliamatar to name drop Iymrith as the BBEG; the giants were quite concerned with the increasing amount of dragon fingerprints materializing. I threw in some other fun stuff; there was a murder mystery with guards not returning from patrol, giants being found poisoned in their beds. They would throw lightning bolts at each other to pierce disguises but Iymrith is immune. They had a new replacement Slayer crafted to replaced the destroyed one. This one was supposed to be attuned to kill dragons, but it was made by Iymrith so it was cursed to enfeeble the user once activated. a lot of faction conflict in STK
