Currently running the campaign for my two bros. They are now looking for the 'villain' and seeing as how we're still at chapter 3 and there isn't a 'main' villain so far, I'm going to turn their NPC dwarf cleric party member into the 'main' villain. Without the 'healing' guy, they're gonna regret all the mud they drag the NPC through!

@@ConeofCool Even better, I've made him into this anti-hero who disrupts things that affect the characters. While he was in the party, he's been investing in several businesses, mainly the Lionshield Coster. Now, the party will be declined service by the business empire he's making so they have to buy items from free traders. I've added magic items that the characters can use to defeat the anti-hero, specifically at his own magic. It's gotten very entertaining 😀👍

Coming from your series on Storm king's thunder, I have to say, your voice is really good for this sort of guide. I've watched some video-essayists before and they're always either pretentious and trying too hard or they just have the most monotonous voice imaginable. You strike a nice middle ground and are very emjoyable to listen to ❤

@@ConeofCool thanks! Its had to time it well, but it worked wonders with my players when introducing Auril’s isle. Also used it layered with roaring fire sounds and yelling for Dzaan’s burning, which went so hard
I'm considering to have the full battle at the amphitheatre. Put her lair actions there and make it until the end, while beneath will be just a few chambers with her hoard and the purple worm wyrmlings. I'm not sure this break in the middle of the battle in order to change it to underground.
I stupidly volunteered to DM this module as my first serious campaign in the DM position. I regret everything. There's SO MUCH TO REMEMBER. I really don't think I have a brain big enough for this...
You got this! Take it one session at a time. You could also shorten the campaign significantly and just focus on one of the giant lords as a main villain?
I think you don't a deeper dive into the different parts of this game could prove interesting. Though I admit it's been a while since you made this one.

@@ConeofCool First off, sorry I ment "doing" not "don't", but I'm glad you took my meaning. Second, I would like to hear your take on using the Goliaths in a more thematic way. Specifically, their attitude towards and story line with Aurial. I had been thinking of a way to better utilize the barbarians and your ideas hit it spot on. I believe the two goliath tribes would have more going on than just goat-ball. Thanks for the responds.
@@alazdmfirst5980 definitely check out my secrets video because I provide a LITTLE more for the goliath's in that video as well. If anything, I would treat them as patrons for the quest that leads the party to Auril's Island

Loved this series!! Am planning a DnD campaign combining Storm King's Thunder with Tyranny of Dragons, with Iymrith, Claugiyliamatar, Tchazzar, Voaraghamanthar, and Arveiaturace forming a Chroma Conclave like the one from Vox Machina as the leaders of the Cult of Dragons (renamed the Dragon Army), with Arkhan the Cruel and Kansaldi Fire-Eyes being two of the army's generals.
Absolutely loved the entire series you put together. Fabulous ideas and clarifications which will uplift my campaign.

I started the campaign by having Kjng Hekaton attacking Waterdeep anc h the he party bands together to survive his assault.
What is Hekaton's goal for attacking Waterdeep?

I just like how the main praise of this movie is that it feels like a D&D game. 5:19 - This is definitely a Nat 1 on investigation by Justice who tried figuring out the way himself.

I played SKT as a player but would like to DM it one day. It’s a large and epic campaign. Fighting giants is never easy. It’s a good follow-up to LMoP but not necessary either. I would limit the number of sidequests to give PCs more guidance as sometimes a sandbox campaign can feel lost for players. When you have a long multi-session campaign the goals sometimes get lost or confusing

this has been extremely useful - I am finishing Stormwreck isle as a new DM for my new group - and looking for an adventure to jump into with the same characters who would be level 3/4 - I think this seems great and just start it from the very beginning with them already at level 3 - if anything would be too easy it would only be at the very beginning which can give them a (false) sense of just how powerful they have become after the adventure at Stormwreck!
honestly this should work out fine! Move some of the groups of goblins around so maybe they have to reclaim the town in a more clever way, like the goblins actually have defenses are are keeping watch for example! This should step up the difficulty!

Advice: The Krakens Gamble is not option, It is required to make the story come together. Without it, the kraken society is straight up a fluff piece. But with the expansion, they become the shared antagonist and allows several deep sudden revalations late game. Without it the endgame is just bossfights with no meaning and fetch quests for information from people and places you never heard of.
I think it is all up to the DM to make the plotlines more compelling and interesting, and kraken’s gamble gives the dm a great time and place to do that, agreed

Hi, thanks for the comment! My RoTF videos did not really get that positive of a reception, so at this time I do not have plans to make anymore. I have basically said everything I have to say about this adventure, if I made another video it would be how to tie in the three competing plotlines.
you can skip chapter 3 if the party finds a Hill Giant and follows it to the lair; you'll get the quest item and then just need to get to the Oracle and skip all the barrow mounds and tedium
While this is possible in the original scope of the adventure, I do not recommend it! Kills the pacing and the quest for the giant relics is a great part of the adventure imo

Both of my parties loved the simplicity and rewards of the encounters. They visited every single spirit mound even after I insisted only one was required. If you give the party a map and tell them there are relics located at each site, they get excited to start graverobbing. While the rest of the adventure is more attractive from the DMs perspective, this was definitely a highlight for my players. SKT is also made to be a wilderness adventure, not a city based campaign at all. The relationship with the barbarians and the giants is related to the story and certainly adds to the campaign. No need to reinvent the wheel when the book gives you all the tools you need.
