I'll never understand why brands hide ingredient changes. They could market it as a great thing "we constantly strive to make our products even better and use even better ingredients, we'll never stop striving for that" blabla
They are advertising to a group of people who talk about these ingredients and how good they are for you. These companies make changes for the sake of profit. They won't be able to spin the narrative properly. When a company changes ingredients, it will almost always be to a cheaper and worse alternative. Especially when the company is hemorrhaging money.
Better ingredients means lower profit margins. Very few companies actually change to use better ingredients. For a lot of them, doing so means hurting investors, which goes against the chief officers' fiduciary duty. When companies do make changes that benefit consumers, it's usually because some country that they earn a lot of money in made changes to their product safety laws; in which case, sticking with the old, worse ingredients and losing their market share means losing out on more money than switching to better ingredients and retaining their market share. And that's why big countries making and upholding better regulations benefits everybody. We can even see this on the state level, like how car makers fit their cars to California's emissions standards and sell those better-emission cars in other states.
IF they were switching to better ingredients then they definitely would make it known. More often than not if they don't announce the change, it's because they're switching to cheaper and lower quality ingredients.

My job involves a LOT of training, much of which has to be repeated annually, because we hold power over others and need constant vigilance in terms of ethics and our troubled history. Training on the legacy of residential schools, cultural erasure amounting to a certain g-word TH-cam doesn't enjoy, and the nature of intergenerational trauma receives a lot of attention, as it must. When I was in a more independent research role, every year we relearned about Tuskegee and other research atrocities, or else we couldn't get IRB recertification. It's essential, because even when you think you remember, you need to remember again why we have the rules we have, and who suffered or died when they weren't observed. Real training would utterly capsize any MLM. Our rules are written in blood, but they sell that blood - and nothing else - for profit.

You notice sometimes when you use a “sulfate free” shampoo it often doesn’t bubble as much? that’s cause they are used in shampoo to lift dirt and oil from your hair and scalp. They are not going to kill you. So much fear mongering in the beauty industry with products. Yes sulfates will cause your color to fade faster but there are also a ton of other factors that can also cause color to fade fast. And there are other factors that come into play if a sulfate free shampoo is better for your hair routine. but bottom line…it won’t kill you if you have to use your mother in laws treseme for a weekend out of town because you forgot your shampoo.
Mama Dr. Jones did a video on postpartum hair loss and it is fascinating. Your hair follicles sync to some other hormone change and your hair does get thinner and fall out all at once instead of a little bit over time like normal where we don't notice. Just a suggestion.

My personal favorite green washing grift are the women who demonize "toxic" products and foods yey get botox, filler and have breast implants. I am an advocate for people doing aesthetic procedures if they want to, but its always tinged with a bit of elitism from these influencers. Its a scare tactic to sell green products.
When you were talking about chemicals it reminded me of someone who came to our office (in dental) and kept going on about how she don't eat anything toxic and is picky with what toothpaste she uses, etc. but then we watched her walk out out door and pull out her vape. We were just shook 😂😂
The Yucca app/toxicity segment made me think of my sister. She's used a phone app for years (I don't know which one, I always forget to ask) to scan labels on food and other products, so she can avoid "unsafe" ingredients and toxic chemicals. But every six weeks she goes to the salon to get her hair colored. You don't want to eat "unsafe chemicals" but you'll soak your scalp in them? Wut?

Hey. I'm a woman in STEM. The thing, in laymen's terms, about chemicals is the potential to be harmful to your body by repeated exposure. Just to create a discussion. Depending on what compound it is. It can buildup over time. Leading to situations like too much XYZ in your blood. Leading to degradation of cells, which leads to illness, cancers, etc. Just offering a way to look at the chemicals we do indeed use everyday. Some are okay. But some will build up and most certainly do things like, making your hair fall out. Dry shampoo for example. Oh and inhaling cosmetic aerosols, face sprays, hair spray, deodorant etc. Not only through absorption through the skin (which absorbs a hell of a lot more than you know) but also directly inhaling it. Totally just offering an alternative way to navigate this space. And also a PSA to us Americans who openly trust what is sold to us. Despite our products being without heavy regulation. PS: I do autopsies. Just in case my medical knowledge was questioned.

33:40 in Buddhism you are not supposed to use Buddha as a decoration. Buddah should only be in your house at an alter or not at all. So while a statue of Buddha as some religious connotations to it, the lack of respect to it means that it's just there as an item and doesn't discredit any Christian beliefs someone has. Not to mention that we have no clue how he obtained that statue. I'm an atheist with a crucifix hanging up in my house because it was gifted to me by my grandparents. My lack of belief in the meaning of the crucifix is outweighed by the love I have for the people who have me that crucifix. My parents house has a Jewish doorframe protection thing because the previous owners were Jewish. My mom is still a practicing Catholic who attends church every sunday (even if she has to attend a mass that is fullly in Spanish and she only has the tiniest grasp on the language while they're wintering in Mexico) but I still wanted to respect the previous owners religion so they never bothered to remove it from the door frame. I don't know why that part really bugged me and I know it's not the point of the video but both the disrespect that Lewis is showing for the Buddha statue and the disrespect of another person's religious beliefs because they have stuff in their house that she doesn't think someone practicing that religion should have really irks me.
So as a (nerdy) Christian, she is actually correct. It’s a violation of the first AND second commandment to have items like this in your house, items representative of other gods or belief systems that oppose or attempt to compete with the One True God. Plenty of verses to support this throughout the Bible.

By using it as a decoration, you are directly disrespecting the Buddha and by disrespecting the Buddha you're not putting a false idol before God. I worked in call centre inbound sales as my first full time job. We did 6-8 weeks of training, of which more than 50% was operating the CRM and order processing etc. After that we did 2 weeks supervised one on one, then 2 weeks supervised one to three. All the training we did after that was only when a order processing or product change; maybe once a month at once. They wanted you on the phone as often as possible, so they didn't like pulling teams to do training.

I’d actually never heard of the products so I didn’t know about all the lawsuits and stuff until about a month or two after starting to sell it.. I was using/thought I liked the products for a month before selling and I saw all the girls “results” with the long, thick hair that has been using them supposedly for years
But the lawsuits that were a few years ago were explained away as oh they couldn’t prove that it was from their products and they didn’t have to pay out blah blah blah so it wasn’t their fault… but now I fully believe that they did end up paying some out and didn’t let that be publicly known because the issues that I’m seeing with people now and looking back is so great when it comes to those products that they absolutely should have lost those lawsuits and essentially been shut down or changed the formulas for the better.

My personal favorite green washing grift are the women who demonize "toxic" products and foods yey get botox, filler and have breast implants. I am an advocate for people doing aesthetic procedures if they want to, but its always tinged with a bit of elitism from these influencers. Its a scare tactic to sell green products.

The Yucca app/toxicity segment made me think of my sister. She's used a phone app for years (I don't know which one, I always forget to ask) to scan labels on food and other products, so she can avoid "unsafe" ingredients and toxic chemicals. But every six weeks she goes to the salon to get her hair colored. You don't want to eat "unsafe chemicals" but you'll soak your scalp in them? Wut?

this is also a logical fallacy though. It’s ok and good to reduce exposure to crap ingredients and products as much as possible and as much as is reasonable for any person. We all have to pick and choose what exposures are worth it and not worth it for us.
The Yuka app has conflicts of interests via sponsors from my understanding so that’s more of an issue.

Realizing you were following lies is a blow to the psyche. I hope she has the time she needs to recover. Whether she makes anti-MLM content or not, staying out of MLMs is what matters most. If she doesn't take the time to grieve and recover, the chances that she'll join another will go up.

At 23:00 she says the person she spoke to said the lady's hair is falling out because she's detoxing or product mixing. Okay, so - is the hair falling out a normal thing that happens in the "detox" process, or is it a horrific result of her mistakes? Are we supposed to be scared of our hair falling out or not? Pick one, it can't be both. You can't have something that serious happen and be like "well either it's a good thing or you're severely f-cking up." What is the lady with her hair falling out supposed to do with that information?? She wouldn't know if, in order to stop her hair from falling out, she would need to keep using or stop using Monat. My heart goes out to her. What a terrifyingly confusing situation to be in. (Obviously Monat was the problem but she clearly didn't know that at the time.)

Hey. I'm a woman in STEM. The thing, in laymen's terms, about chemicals is the potential to be harmful to your body by repeated exposure. Just to create a discussion.
Depending on what compound it is. It can buildup over time. Leading to situations like too much XYZ in your blood. Leading to degradation of cells, which leads to illness, cancers, etc.
Just offering a way to look at the chemicals we do indeed use everyday. Some are okay. But some will build up and most certainly do things like, making your hair fall out. Dry shampoo for example. Oh and inhaling cosmetic aerosols, face sprays, hair spray, deodorant etc.
Not only through absorption through the skin (which absorbs a hell of a lot more than you know) but also directly inhaling it.
Totally just offering an alternative way to navigate this space. And also a PSA to us Americans who openly trust what is sold to us. Despite our products being without heavy regulation.
PS: I do autopsies. Just in case my medical knowledge was questioned.

33:40 in Buddhism you are not supposed to use Buddha as a decoration. Buddah should only be in your house at an alter or not at all. So while a statue of Buddha as some religious connotations to it, the lack of respect to it means that it's just there as an item and doesn't discredit any Christian beliefs someone has.
Not to mention that we have no clue how he obtained that statue. I'm an atheist with a crucifix hanging up in my house because it was gifted to me by my grandparents. My lack of belief in the meaning of the crucifix is outweighed by the love I have for the people who have me that crucifix.
My parents house has a Jewish doorframe protection thing because the previous owners were Jewish. My mom is still a practicing Catholic who attends church every sunday (even if she has to attend a mass that is fullly in Spanish and she only has the tiniest grasp on the language while they're wintering in Mexico) but I still wanted to respect the previous owners religion so they never bothered to remove it from the door frame.
I don't know why that part really bugged me and I know it's not the point of the video but both the disrespect that Lewis is showing for the Buddha statue and the disrespect of another person's religious beliefs because they have stuff in their house that she doesn't think someone practicing that religion should have really irks me.
So as a (nerdy) Christian, she is actually correct. It’s a violation of the first AND second commandment to have items like this in your house, items representative of other gods or belief systems that oppose or attempt to compete with the One True God. Plenty of verses to support this throughout the Bible.

By using it as a decoration, you are directly disrespecting the Buddha and by disrespecting the Buddha you're not putting a false idol before God. If he was worshiping the Buddha that would be one thing, but using it as a decoration is basically treating it as dirt when it comes to the religious belief. Basically him having that in his house is offensive to all religions.

I worked in call centre inbound sales as my first full time job. We did 6-8 weeks of training, of which more than 50% was operating the CRM and order processing etc. After that we did 2 weeks supervised one on one, then 2 weeks supervised one to three. All the training we did after that was only when a order processing or product change; maybe once a month at once. They wanted you on the phone as often as possible, so they didn't like pulling teams to do training.

When is someone gonna do an ingredient list breakdown of these monat shampoos😂 I’m dying to know what is in there that stops working, bc it does happen with lots of chemicals. As a hairdresser, I think it’s similar to tolerance with meds or other supplements. Almost like Those ingredients are not meant to be used indefinitely, and they clearly want people to use them forever. It’s obviously shady either way, I’m just curious about the chemistry bc I’m a huge nerd😅

Do they ever think they like these products because they’ve been told to months before they try the product that it’s the greatest thing on the planet.
I’d actually never heard of the products so I didn’t know about all the lawsuits and stuff until about a month or two after starting to sell it.. I was using/thought I liked the products for a month before selling and I saw all the girls “results” with the long, thick hair that has been using them supposedly for years
But the lawsuits that were a few years ago were explained away as oh they couldn’t prove that it was from their products and they didn’t have to pay out blah blah blah so it wasn’t their fault… but now I fully believe that they did end up paying some out and didn’t let that be publicly known because the issues that I’m seeing with people now and looking back is so great when it comes to those products that they absolutely should have lost those lawsuits and essentially been shut down or changed the formulas for the better.
