I love this song. I had an Afro during this time in the 90s. In 1996 the year of this song.I was 22 and deep in my hip hop phase at this point. Rockness Monsta's dreads made me twist my hair into locks. I had them for so long. Then I got older and started losing my hair. Started shaving it bold from that point on.
@ABoomerReacts yeah you had to form a gang back then or become a victim. It was mainly for security but they did low level crime like boosting clothes, cars and would definitely run ya jewels.
Sean Price is a special special rapper. whether in freestyles or songs, he always said some violent shit but in a funny way. "Sean Price is a master ya'll, ya'll a slave to the rhythm, so after i finish rappin' i whip 'em."
Da Beatminerz were the house producers for Duck Down Records during the timeframe in question for all the groups you mentioned in the backgrounder. They've produced everything you've listened/reacted to thus far from Black Moon, Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, etc. Solid production team (on par with Premier/Pete Rock/Prince Paul), still active, most popular titled production is probably "Mafia Don", most recent titled production is Seckle with KRS-One.
@ABoomerReacts Mafia Don is by Da Beatminerz, featuring an underground rapper named The Last Emperor, and appeared on their 2004 album "Fully Loaded w/ Statik".
Sean Price 🙌🏽 Heltah Skeltah OGC Smif-N-Wessun Boot Camp Clik Duck Down My favorite song from 8th grade year. Now I have to listen to Smif-N-Wessun (Bucktown).
This is the first time I'm hearing that he died. I don't read biographies past when the song I'm reacting to was released, so I didn't know. That's a shame. I'll have to google him.
Their gang-name "Decepticons" was derived of the bad guys in the "Transformers"-franchise, a cartoon series that also had a HUGE toyline and eventually became one of the biggest movie-franchises in the last two decades! Comics and cartoon references can be found A LOT throughout the history of Hip Hop, as a lot of 90's rappers grew up in the 80's with superhero-comics and cartoons!! I commend you for being so open minded and diving into the Hip Hop history, I think it's a very positive trait to constantly expand your horizon and show interest in new things!! My mother who is 62 years old also started exploring Hip Hop in the past few years and she's actually a Hip Hop fan for 5 years now!! So funny to see how people can expand their music horizon once they start to become more curious and invested and start to investigate the biggest music genre of the past 3 decades, namely Hip Hop!! Me too, I was born in 1989 and had to retroactively catch up with all the Hip Hop that was made in the early 90's! The early 90's hip hop era is now actually my favourite era in Hip Hop and it has been a revelation to discover so many groups and rappers! Thank You for Your Reaction!!
Thanks, Evander! I really appreciate your comment. And I commend you for going back to the hip hop classics. When I started this channel, I thought a lot of my viewers would be hip hop fans in their 20's. Nope - the majority of them don't know these "golden era" songs.
Technically The Fab 5 have released otger albums together because OGC and Helta Skeltah are part of The Boot Camp Clik and Boot Camp Clik have released four studio albums and several compilations.
Not sure if you'd like Blah as much..it's a bit less catchy but it's essentially the same concept of a bunch of hungry MCs eager to show everyone what they can do. Anyway that double 12'' got a lot of attention back then with the Bootcamp Clik being at the peak of their popularity during that time. I hope you'll do some more Heltah Skeltah later on, and ideally not the watered-down radio friendly "Therapy". :) I think you'd enjoy Operation Lockdown though.
All part of the Boot Camp Clik which includes Black Moon and Smif and Wesson, which you reacted to. Not sure if you've reacted to other BCC groups in particular Original Gunn Clapperz
You are correct. Besides The Fab Five, I've only reacted to Smif n Wessun and Black Moon. I have 2 OGC songs on my list: Hurricane Starang and Gun Clapp. Thoughts?
@@ABoomerReacts”Hurricane Starang, No Fear, The storm, I ain’t having it and Bounce to the ounce” are poplular songs.. They also have a Fab 5 song on their second album called “Dirtiest players in the game”.. There’s also a “Leflaur Leflah remix” that goes harder than the original and “Blah”.
I'm not going to lie, when I first heard Ruck say "Laflaur Leflah Eschoshka" I thought was some random phrase he picked up from a Scandinavian language 😂😂😂 This record was played like it was anthem in Brooklyn when it was released. I highly recommend you react to "Operation Lockdown" or "Therapy".
Please do Sean Price’s How Sean P Stole Christmas for the holidays.! I’m with you on listening rather than watching the videos, but that one is a fun video, the lyrics are easy enough to understand, and it’s just stupid ignorant non-PC holiday fun!
If youre delving into Boot Camp, id suggest cession at the doghille. It has all 8 members. Clicks aint ready also has all the members too, but make sure to listen to the version from the new jersey drive soundtrack.
For an O.G.C song I suggest No Fear. Starang Wonder(no relation to Stevie) is the best of the three in this group. My opinion. He has big solo on the same album titled Hurricane Starang. The other members rap but have smaller parts. This is their best song again just my opinion.
You should listen to sean p’s solo music, he is one of the best When it comes to Do ”funny and real hard punchlines rhymes” of all time 😂😂😂😂 rip sean p
Yeah both releases are the same song. The only other song Fab 5 did was Blah, which is a dope song aswell. Not as good as this one, but close. You’re right though they should have did an album with just the 5 members. They got a great chemistry.
Classic joint. RIP to Sean Price
I just found out in a previous comment that he is dead. I didn't know.

Ah, Rockness Monsta is Rock. I had to google it. I like it.
Damn, this was uncanny. I could have written this myself. Down to the age in 1996! And the progression from fro to locks to squeaky clean. Same!

It’s just a song displaying there lyrical prowess. Still a fun song, you to listen to it all the time when I was a young’ n
Nocturnal and Da Storm - classic albums both.
This song is special! Absolute classic in my book. The time when BBC was running strong. R.I.P Sean P.
One of my fav chorus ever, I still hear this song in my head whenever I say or want to say "yes yall"!

Loved the video for this song. Watching gun clappers act silly was it.

You're right. I didn't even think of that. I only have 1 Boot Camp Clik song on my list: Nightriders (remix).
Heltah Skeltah -Clans,Posses,Crews and Clicks is the song to react !
That's quite the title. I'll add it to my list. Thanks!
