finally, someone who has brought back that excitement you feel about when the down and dirty blues is being played the way it should be. fresh and very hot guitar playing! great!
I can barely watch this....I adored his music. Not to mention, he was a kind and generous man. I cut through he and Bobby's campsite once at The Plantation in Clarksdale and he offered me a bite of his steak. He had to be tired, from playing at King Biscuit and it was late. Yet, he offered. His singing on top of his playing transports me to blues city. A genius bluesman. I'm grateful I got to meet him a few times. Hats off to Bobby: she's just as grand.
RIP Burks, did not know you before today. I feel guilty, because my interest in music is huge, and you were certainly an astonishing guitarist with a lot of feeling. My condolences goes to his family and friends.
Just can't imagine how lost his band must feel . One day you have a great act that can wow a crowd and then in a heartbeat it's gone , maybe not forever , but it will take awful lot to put yourself back together . So very sorry to see him go . RIP Michael Burks .
Saw this guy live a few years ago. He jammed for 3 hours that night. We talked to him in between sets and he told us he had the flu. He was still just as amazing as he is in this video.
Folks these days get lost in all the Y/Tube wunder kidz. They play blindingly fast, mind numbing difficult licks like it's just a walk in the park. But at the end of the day their playing is dead, void of meaning. Michael on the other end of the spectrum "GETS IT". Every note coming off that fretboard has meaning, not just some hyper speed sonic sludge spewed forth to impress the mindless masses demanding such. My hat's off to him. Player to a player, Michael you're wonderful.
would be great to see michael do it with a rap,mix version. at the end. another dimension, would be great for his portfolio. maybe theguy who nearly set it off on the stage at the end of this. do,it,do,it,do,it. would make a no1. with puff daddy dead easy.
How can you not like this? This tune has so much soul coming from Mike's heart and he let's his guitar do the talking.
Great and great and great

A whole lot of soul in that guitar solo 🎶🎵
This guy doesn't need any pedals, his pure tone comes from inside him.

Killer, killer Blues......low down, mean and ugly!!! Maybe the very best and Bluest "House in New Orleans" I've ever heard!!!!!
RIP Michael Burks
I agree 100%, it's all about the meaning of the note, rather than the speed.
RIP Michael.
very nice
Burks uses a Dr. Z amp that's essentially custom made for him. It's a model called the Delta 88, and is an amazing amp.
Effortless....he was playin at a high level wen it was alot of greats. He's a beast on his technical side.
@valg1z exactly, the music comes from within and a lot of "the tone" is in the hands!.
Great stuff man.
R.I.P.
Amen
Some people you just don't want to loose early and MB was one of them, on the brink of being a blues force, Very sad.
dayummm amazing and outstanding, does anyone know what type of pedals he uses??. i just cant get enough of his overdriven tone.
