I think becoming a retail dealer is a fantastic idea because even on the cheap cars you buy now you always make sure that they are in basically retail condition both mechanically and cosmetic so I think you should be rewarded for that and being a retail dealer I think we'll do that. Because just like the two caddies that you have you spend a ton of money on made them 100% why not reap the rewards instead of letting these other dealerships or individuals get the cars cheaper than what you've got into them and then they make the money by the way the big boy caddy I love that car but being 70 years old it's very tough to getting a loan when you're on social security you see at the beginning of the pandemic I had to sell my '96 Lincoln Town car which only had 70,000 miles on it beautiful car and have nothing now and have to rely on people to take me back and forth to the doctors and such good luck with the transition
I would retail and do out of state deals only. So many nice cars you put on your viewers would be interested in. I used to sell all of out trades on ebay. Picked people up at the air port all week long

put an AIR TAG in the vehicle and a note for the new owner to mail it back to you after they take possesion of the vehicle so you can track it to copart.

First… so thankful the Aston Martin was found!!! Second… I hope whatever decision you make on the retail dealership is the right fit for you! Make no hasty decisions man. Thirdly…. I’d be willing to bet money that your 4L80E trans in the tow rig has a messed up reverse drum assembly in there. They do have a tendency to crack under pressure applied in reverse, and you lose reverse. I have two diesel trucks w/ 4L 80E trans currently, my ‘95 Suburban has lost reverse twice in almost 300k miles, same trans though. Let the trans man go through it for you. Not a hard trans to pull yourself, not sure it’ll go on your lift though the way you’re set up so that might not be what you wanna do. Hope that encourages you to make the right decision for your bottom line.

Randy : your exhaust / vent pipe on your water heater is disconnected and can kill you & your dog by CO2 poisoning. Each joint on water heater vent pipe needs 3 screws per joint , please fix ASAP. It sounds like the vent pipe is condensating from insulation around vent pipe in attic. Rotties have a 300+ psi bite strength & are fearless. Stay safe brother.
Glad the Aston is ok. I think the retail lot is a good idea, you don't have to get too involved in it or make it too big but just to be able to move stuff without hassle would be worth it.
I don’t believe you need to replace the water heater you just need to make sure that it doesn’t leak, and has a proper vent system. Unless it is rusted out internally.
Retail will kill this channel I'm not sure about anybody else I was bored when you looking at the other lot with the nice cars I like the old cars and watch you fix them up
Okay randy if you're going retail. Your are going to have to. Gravel your lot at minimum.. hire a company to come out to put down road mat. And 2 inch stone. Moisture from Grass is horrible for the under carriage of cars that will cause it to rust. . Your best bet would be concrete/ asphalt. But gravel will suffice.. start with a max of 4-8 cars. Don't just sell newer used cars also sell older good condition Used cars so you can cater to people that have lower a budget. Another good piece of advice don't hoard your inventory like hoovie did ( self admitted) you're doing this to make money. Also dealers who have a big heart go bankrupt. The key word is NO and that is an excellent OPTION . When you pick up a car do a walk-around video show every aspect of the vehicle in and out including a test drive. Like you do now. Look for 1 owner cars. P.s. Auto auction "rebuilds" doesn't sound like a very good name for a good used car lot. But "RANDY'S QUALITY USED CARS" now that sounds better. P s. Don't finance any car. Own your inventory free and clear so you're not beholden to a bank. Because the economy is not stable. Don't be left in a situation like you almost were with the Aston Martin . Just advice. Roxy is awesome. Yeah, dogs vs wild animals...just last week, my scrawny ass pitbull (38 lbs after a rainstorm) was minding her own business when a skunk sprayed in her direction. She was not impressed, so she proceeded to run it down and promptly snatch ahold of the skunk, killing it. This all happened in the span of 30 seconds.
I was driving from blue ridge ga to Naples fl. And on 75 in Atlanta, it was pouring. And the wipers were full speed and my driver side wiper all of a sudden loosed and flew off in a nano second!
Please don't get rid of the tow truck because it can come in handy because if you have to tow 2 things you can have sombody drive your tow truck and you can hook up your trailer to your truck and bam.

I love the idea of you getting into retail. You can show us you picking and buying cars and getting them ready for retail. After they sell you can do a profit or loss video like you used to. I enjoyed those. You can still do the occasional older car or oddball car that may need a little more work as project content and still try to sell it for a profit. And of course still include some walk around videos.
Randy, it would probably be worth your time to check and verify with Copart that their contracted towing companies are legally and financially responsible for cars when they take possession. If so, then any damages or theft that occurs after the tower grabs it will be their responsibility and you would not be out the money. I would just strongly advise to have some type of proof that the company did indeed take the car, such as having the driver sign a document they did pick it up. Hoping you can have some peace of mind for future sales!

Imo you should keep the 3 caddies until you sell them for what your asking. As a delivery driver I like using sketchers or fila for work non slip. Just tell the new owner an AirTag is in there remove the battery here’s a vid on how to do it. And recycle it.

You don't want to deal with the emotion and ignorance of broke people trying to nickle and dime you in addition to wasting your time. Yes, every option in life has its pros and cons but you have a less stressful thing going being a wholesaler. No need to change the formula for a worst one.
Not all your cars need to retail ! You still can do some the way you are doing now ,if some can't be trusted to go retail route ! Keep up the video's !
On the trans of that tow truck. Get it fixed. That tow truck looks nice. It's gonna save you a bunch of money. After you get it fixed you won't think about that transmission, the money you spent on it, 'cause you're gonna be making money towing your own cars.
I think the biggest thing is stop selling through copart. Use a better auction house. There are a ton out there. The one I work for has 6 different auction houses under their umbrella. Greater Atlanta Auto Auction.
Those Cadillacs would be perfect for either @HooviesGarage or the @CarWizard - would compliment their fleet well and would be a nice collab between you guys... On becoming a retailer, as long as it's good for you (and profitable), we are here to support you, man! Count on my views, as always.

MyQ can be extremely buggy but I heard they got much better with the updates. The Fleetwood is a beautiful car such a nice big comfy cruiser anyone who buys it just remember it's for cruising and not daily driving, you can daily drive it if you want but you're going to be putting a lot of gas in it and it's going to really tear that car up over time I hope it goes to somebody that uses it every couple days or every once in a while as a neighborhood cruiser going to the store or something. Running that car daily would put such a strain in your pocket but hey if that's your priority go ahead and do it.
Careful with the Hyundai's and Kia's.....insurance companies don't want to insure them...there has been a number of recalls on them lately too....plus the non-push button start models can EASILY be stolen with a USB cable

Best idea you can do is open up the retail dealership. Save the commissions to copart or others that charge to much. Even if you go with the super cheap cars 1000 or more it’s still a “as is” sale. Bet your viewers would pick most stuff up from you direct.
Randy- just be transparent as usual on purchase price and how much you put into it….a bunch of us appreciate that transparency and definitely willing to buy directly from you vs Copart /IAA. Hopefully that will help at least break even vs losing money selling on Copart/IAA. Hopefully it’s not a huge headache selling retail????
what’s funny is that i’m sure this has happened somewhere to cop art before. And i’m sure they have insurance to cover if anything happens unless they state it in the paperwork you sign, either way it wouldn’t hurt to look at their agreement or paperwork 🤷🏿♂️

I bought myself a pair of vessi's and I wish they sold them in wide as they aren't comfortable since I have wide feet but I keep them just in case.
