Buying and selling multiple $100k vehicles and losing thousands on them certainly didn't help. Should have taken some of that money and hired a financial planner.

Another one that talks the talk but doesn’t understand how it works. I made over $350k last year. If I hadn’t lost that money the IRS and Oklahoma would have taken it anyway. It was going to someone else regardless. I’d rather spend the money on things I enjoy than handing it over to the government who is doing nothing to help me. Period. And I do have a financial planner, as well as an accountant. The money was gone anyway. Next time you should make sure you know my strategy before assuming I’m some idiot.

I think many of us appreciate your opening up as to the realities of being a small businessperson, of the current economy, admitting mistakes or poor decisions. You are a person with a range of life experiences, with faith in God, have friends and family (like Mike, 'Santa) - that is priceless. You will learn from your experiences. You recognize there are ups and downs in life and have plans to deal with them. Maybe you could have found a way to sell the cars off for more money but there were no guarantees and with 2 vehicles (the Probe, the van), you apparently helped people in need so maybe some good Karma coming your way.
I would suggest some things. Renting out the Indiana house for awhile if possible to pay its ongoing costs and try to get back some of your investment. Choose future vehicles you can practically fix with your skills and facilities and do YT videos with them as entertaining and for revenue. No more 'flood' cars. Find other wholesale outlets to sell at/on where can promote the vehicle better, more accurately (like with the SEMA 'Stang). Consider renting a small lot so can get a regular used car dealer's license so can sell directly to consumers.

In my state if you have a private home assessment done by a licensed appraiser the town has to accept it. So every five years I pay to have my home assessed and submit it to the town. It always comes back lower than the town appraisal and pays for itself easily. Something to consider if you are getting hammered on local tax.

  • @larrywinemiller794
    @larrywinemiller794 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Randy, I went through a similar thing as you are going through now. I went into clean house mode. I think I told you before, the TRX would cost you a ton with putting on high miles and depreciating it at a ridiculous speed. Which I think it did. Then the only way you could get rid of it is putting a large part of the debt into a high mileage truck that was rode hard and put away wet. That is a old saying we used on hard used vehicles. when you try to get rid of it the pain will really show up, I know it happened to me. Fix up the car hauler and use it to haul two cars , instead of a truck and a trailer that costs a lot of money to use and depreciate. When you buy cars to use on your channel buy smart and get something that will make good money, supposedly with decent miles. I made a great amount of money on cars that was great for a family or such that had something simple to fix but every body cant figure out, which sells pretty cheap. Good luck and think of something that everybody wants to watch and will make a good profit. I ended up with half a million debt free dollars worth of all kinds of cars, cycles, trucks, and most of all collector cars. Some times using cash helps .

My lifestyle hasn't changed much and I'm hoping that there will be a change in our national administration 2 years from now.
I think you will be able to do whatever it takes to make a good living. You have been on the upswing for years and it won't stop anytime soon. Your work ethic won't let you fail.

Randy, I use a Coleman solar trickle charger to keep the battery in the car I don't really drive much up and running. This charger costs between $30 and $40 depending upon if it goes on sale at Amazon and it has been great for me. Both my cars sat 99.9% during the pandemic but still easily started up even after sitting for months. I plug it into the OBDII port in my car and leave it on the dash and the energy it gets from the light is enough to compensate for the power used for the alarm, radio memory and whatever module wakes up to do something and then shuts down again. it is water resistant and also comes with alligator clip connectors and a plug for the cigarette lighter port just in case you don't have an OBDII port. VW dealers use something similar on the cars on their lot to keep them from from having dead batteries and not starting when a customer wants to test drive it. This will not help save a old battery that is on its last legs but will help a healthy battery.

I think the amount of money you spent on your uncles house was worth it. From what I seen on those videos those repairs were very much needed in that house. Now are you leaving in no, and some people will think it’s not a smart move. However, if you ever get the chance to move in it then it’s ready for you to move in. That’s what people really need to think about if you have another house from a passing family member and with things going the way it is. You can literally move out from whatever and move to an area where you have a house that idk making a guest already paid for. That alone saves money and you can sale whatever house you had before and save that money too.

Home owners insurance in a lot of areas will increase due to various factors. You live in an area where, if you've had an increased number of tornadoes, insurance will increase. Where I live in Colorado, we've been hit with hail storms and fires over the past couple years. Home owners insurance has increased here because of those factors. Auto insurance in Colorado is very high, too. 1 in 3 accidents is caused by an uninsured driver. We all pay for that with higher premiums. Just my perspective from what I've seen.

I have no problem paying my fair share, but when there is nothing left for me it makes you wonder why we even do it. On the positive side I'm not working for someone else and do everything my way. Going to work everyday is enjoyable and not the hell it was when working for a large company that didn't give a crap about you. I'm always very thankful for that. Hopefully this country can get back on the right track soon and things will get better. For now I just watch my 401 K vanish and just keep plugging away.

I work as a mechanic and I make decent money as of 2018 times. In 2023 the money is like when I was making 12 an hour. Struggling to survive and can’t go to the store without spending 150 on almost nothing when I use to get two carts full of food for that price. The economy is shit plan and simple.

That GMC flatbed tow truck hauler is a damn smart asset to have around in the business you are in. One would assume its paid off without a lien so it will earn it's keep if you just have some patience in keeping it. Good luck on the next phase of TH-cam content, I'll keep watching.

Randy, just a couple thoughts. First, thank you for the content, may sound corny but watching these videos is nostalgic, brings my stress down but more than anything you and you’re content are relatable to the working folk like me. There are other channels and they are good in their own right but I can’t relate to them or their cars. I’ve pretty much stopped watching them and again, I can’t relate to them. And maybe it’s my own unhappiness or stress but a lot of us in the country are feeling the squeeze. I thought I made a good living until the past year or two. My mortgage has doubled for the same reason (here in NYS our property and school taxes are sickening), food has doubled, heating costs doubled, pet costs doubled and so on. I won’t get political because I respect your channel but man I miss pre-2020. Lastly, how and why you do your business ain’t my business. I care that you, your channel and your family are prosperous. Thanks for the great content and work you put into it!

My ex used to say, "Any time a business opens its doors in the morning, that is a miracle" ,,,it really is, people who do not own a business have no idea and its enough to make a man become religious!

I manage a small rv dealership. It has been hard sale anything. It went from 90 to 0 almost overnight. Everytime I order a part It is more than it was last time. There has to be a ceiling.... it can't keep going up. Best of luck with everything.

Sorry you had to deal with and talk about what some of your viewers commented . What you do with your vehicles is your business and that also means new vehicles coming to your channel ( can't wait to see what you get ) . As far as feeling the gouge , yeah it's getting nasty . See you in the next video , take care Randy

Hi Randy, love the channel and sorry about the loss from sales, i spose you win some and lose some, the tow truck is great and a keeper, maybe hire it out ??? when trans is done. The Brougham is lovely and a keeper if you can, so good luck and keep the channel growing, taxes kill everyone and goverments and banks dont give a sXXt about people and there finances.

You are absolutely correct...the economy is hurting everyone, especially the little guy! The situation is unsustainable. Unfortunately, I think it will get worse before it gets better...you're right to liquidate a few toys and consolidate some of your overhead.

Why I watch your channel is because it's not about exotic cars . It's carries friendship first with yourself,Mike, Santa's Workshop, and local vendors. Your back story is kick ass.
But your love for cars brings me back especially the probe, and white Cadillac you have sitting in the garage beautiful examples of an everyman's car even the vettes.
Please don't go the route of other guys with high line crap. You keep it real

Hey Randy, as always, truly appreciate your transparency, and love your channel! No way should you have lost that much on the Mustang! Isn’t there some other outlet you can sell these cars on and get fair value? I wish you could’ve held onto the Mustang for the power tour! Love the videos of the Aston Martin, the Allante, and the Corvette! Hope you can continue to add that variety to your channel along with the walk arounds!

What your doing here Randy is really cool and plenty of the cars you find are Iconic in their own ways. With the current car shortage you have acces to cars at Copart and IAA that most people don’t have access to and you’re putting cars on the market. Insurance companies cant see the value in someones car and the will refuse to pay to fix it even if its minor damage, but you see the value in vehicles so I commend you.
