    ❤❤❤ Abbey is so cool. My husband is on the spectrum. I have what is called a TBi. Thats short for traumatic brain injury. I was in my 30s. It’s been ten years since the car accident and your channel and your mom’s channel helps me to,”just keep swimming, just keep swimming,” like Dori in Finding Nemo. I want to be where the people are, too! I love your message to humans to be their inner Ariel and Mufassa. Thank you for your videos.
    Sending love to you and yours from Orlando, Florida. Heather.

      There are some amazing speeches. Many are given at awards shows.
      This one is just OK.

    I hope all people learn to communicate as authentically as this. Expressing clearly how things make them feel would help us all live better lives and create a world that would help people thrive. 🙏

    I've never before heard someone give such an effective description of trying to express your emotions. Also, what a smart idea from mom to make a visual dictionary of emotions 💕

    Abby the discipline and courage you have to be the best version of yourself is that of a champion! You are such an amazing young lady. Keep your head up and know what an inspiration you are to not only to those on the spectrum but those who also are not. Because sometimes people give in..and stay in one spot. The sky is the limit for you Abby!

    Abbey, I relate to this so much it made me cry. I remember being that little girl you described and sometimes still feel like her to this day. I'm not diagnosed, but I have many autistic traits and I assume that I am on the spectrum somewhere. I still struggle with verbal communication in certain situations. You are very lucky to have received all of the therapy that you did as a child. Be thankful for your family who addressed your struggles instead of ignoring them. I loved your speech!!

    • @Argeaux2
      @Argeaux2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unless you are assessed as autistic, you don’t whether or not you actually are autistic.
      Self-diagnosis is inaccurate. Many of the online quizzes used for it are outdated, and were only developed for assessing autistic boys.
      People have a tendency to answer questions in this quizzes in a way that will give them the outcome they want. They don’t always give the most accurate answers.
      Doing a self-assessment for autism also doesn’t let you know if you have a mental health condition, rather than autism. Or as well as autism.
      It is very common for autistic people to also have ADHD.
      My friend has autism, ADHD, OCD, and Tourette’s. That was all picked up by formal assessment.
      You obviously got formal assessments done for your children. Do one for yourself.

    I was proud of this Asperger-diagnosed young woman that she overcame stage fright to give motivational speech to the whole audience about her life on the autism spectrum. It warms my heart.

      She has autism not Asperger, that’s not a diagnosis any longer, and when it was that was high functioning autism with no language delay

    • @faiora
      @faiora 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      My understanding is that Abbey has had a lot of speech therapy and worked very hard to speak as well as she does now. Also I believe I’ve heard mention in some videos of her having a carer or some other assistance at home.
      So, I don’t think she would have been diagnosed with Asperger’s when that was still a thing. It’s likely the current diagnosis she’d receive is ASD 2 or 3.
      But it’s more straightforward to just say she’s autistic or that she has autism. You’ll hear in the video that she says she has autism. She doesn’t refer to herself as someone with Asperger’s.

    I only actually like I'm Autistic when I have to speak in public to an audience! It's my only n wrist phobia, causes me so much anxiety and stress, paranoia, I go to pieces really, the sweats! It's so frustrating! Cus I'm fine n confident in a group discussion, and a leader in informal groups, but public speaking, I crumble n stutter, so strange as I don't even know why! Ironic that it Abbey is fine and so gud doing it! ❤😮

    I have autism, and I never knew that being too mentally preoccupied with memories could be considered a symptom for some. That's really interesting to know. The older I get, the more I find myself living in my memories, as well as hypothetical conversations in my head with others, instead of the present. When I realize that I have been spacing out and daydreaming, I end up feeling guilty over it, like something is wrong with me for getting so distracted with my thoughts that I can't focus on what I need to do in the physical world. I actually have wondered if I had something wrong with me, like a brain tumor or something, because of how much I dissociate and live more inside of my mind... I guess I am somewhat relieved to know that it's just another part of autism?
