Hey Josh that was me in the finals match with you, I remember being very upset that I had lost at the time. But honestly thank you for the match man it highlighted some holes in my grappling and has helped me train better. Thank you for the match dude!
You looked pretty good in the final match keep up the good work. I could tell you have good wrestling experience. Your positive mindset will take you far.
I think this probably highlights that his genetics are being under utilised though. If someone can make those gains then it probably means his diet wasn’t optimal for performance
Hi Josh, as a young man don’t make the mistake of not training your legs. Unless you are a jacked up bodybuilder you won’t get to big to the extent it will prevent you from achieving leg locks as stated in one of your comments, you will just get stronger. Training legs will enhance your overall power. Best of luck 👍
Bjj will ultimately be rough on your lower back and hips. Squats and deadlifts are going to really help your back. Especially if you aren’t on steroids like Gordon has admitted to being on.
Yeah genetically men can get insanely strong in the legs, but mass wise, not really bigger than 23" around naturally. EDIT: there are definitely other things that can play into this. I am by no means saying that anyone with bigger legs means they use peds. I myself am 5'11 with 25" thighs.
@@Roma-rusk Not sure where you got that number but it's dead wrong without extra parameters at least. My quads are 24.5" right now and I barely work out. Athletes in sport that require explosion or raw power can definitely get bigger than that

I would (as someone who lifted and grappled for 20 years until health issues sidelined me) really suggest doing heavy squat and deadlift, that kind of core power is soooo helpful. you don't need tons of reps to boost strength. Great video btw
@@JoshRichBJJYou can definitely focus on powerlifting style squatting/deadlifting to get that raw strength but not pack on too much size. Don’t get me wrong, if you add 200 pounds to your squat your legs will grow, but if you avoid a bunch of accessory stuff and big sets to failure you can get really technical at the lifts too.
Nice work. I'm glad you addressed the GR gear issue. When I was NAGA competing (long before you were born) I was stupid strong. Muscle has always come easy to me. Gordon Ryan is on copious amounts of anabolic steroids, simply training like him and buying his program won't net you the same results. You don't have to put long hours into the gym to build your body, the reason fighters and athletes do it is because they are building a skill, not just their muscles, one of the greatest body builders ever, Mike Mentzer only trained 2 hours a week and won the olympia and mr.universe competitions. Point is diet, rest and his "secret supplements" are the key to his transformation. You would be far better off training a full body workout split a couple times a week and eating a high protein diet in a calorie surplus if your goal is to gain size evenly on your frame rather than whatever body building program gordon is selling. btw no hate for the guy, i think he is a phenomenal athlete and i love watching him roll, i just feel like he is forced to be a bit disingenuous regarding his steroid use because he can't openly say the truth without damaging his rep and career.
In addition to this being mentioned in the video. All of Gordon's opponents and every elite athlete drink the juice. 2023 and people talk about PED as if it's something new, serious Olympic athletes have been using it for decades if you want to see clean athletes and go back to the 30's maybe 40's from then on it's just a clean athlete. The way people train nowadays, the frequency would be impossible without peds, the body would not recover, injuries would happen and the technical level would go downhill since they would have to train much less.

It's facts that having large legs makes it so difficult to lock up triangles. I have 30in thighs from my years of bodybuilding and I can't lock up triangles fully. Though the closer I get to full lock up the more people tap without me having to squeeze.
Good job, you focused on using strength over technique. All opponents are different too, maybe this one was a bit easier than others might have been, but it's good your ego increased because of it.

What you need is his dealers number. Dude juiced to make his transformation.
Nice work. Earlier In the year I was doing very light upper body weights and I could see a big difference on the mat myself. It does help!
Yo! That was awesome man! Excellent play by play! ...I'm one class in to starting BJJ w/a Judo and Krav Maga background - this was encouraging!
Youre an absolute chad.
Love the vids.
ADCC opens are coming up hope you compete in them
5:20 sike lmao love it
That last match was awesome. Very technical from both sides
Very good body transformation there and it really motivates me to push hard for my next workouts (me - new at the gym :D ). Good job and a nice video
Who would have thought strength training increases athleticism😱
I'm absolutely stunned, flabbergasted.
Very entertaining video. Kudos on the win.
It's facts that having large legs makes it so difficult to lock up triangles. I have 30in thighs from my years of bodybuilding and I can't lock up triangles fully. Though the closer I get to full lock up the more people tap without me having to squeeze.
Dude thats awesome Josh keep it up brooo
Dude most people cannot gain as fast as you. You respond VERY well to resistance training.
Great share Josh!
Well done Josh! Nice take of the back in Match 1
good job Josh! awesome video as always
BEAST!
No you bro!

Incredible transformation we'll done mate keep at itn
Awesome hard work on both. Keep it up and stay safe.
Hey I saw you compete at this tournament, I took some vids and your Jiu jitsu is super solid man! Hope to see you in a blue belt division one day
Good for you man. You're passionate. It's always good to be passionate. As you get older you'll put on more mass. You're still young.
I have never seen any of your videos until now. Great topic and it was cool to see your hard work pay off. New subscriber now
Good work, bro. You made noticeable gains! Keep it up. 😊
well done sir... also excellently narrated journey
Now (after this training)you look more confident for sure
Nicky Rod's training dvd next. I feel it's better for grappling, not only for size.
Good job, you focused on using strength over technique. All opponents are different too, maybe this one was a bit easier than others might have been, but it's good your ego increased because of it.
Hey bro! Try making bacon in your OVEN. You can bake it anywhere from 350-425 degrees.
Of course, the higher the temp, the closer you have to watch it. Also, thicker cuts of bacon are more forgiving. Takes 10-15 mins.
Congrats on winning your competition!
