House of 1000 Corpses is a work of art. I had a pirated copy on VHS back in the day that we watched at least 50 times. The crappy quality made it better.
Mine is with Odis talking about blood closer to the beginning. It was a great movie! I've done bought it like 5 times and see zombie like 3 times. Altho baby was the pimp in the movie. But that Odis scene was my favorite. Mickey mouse on one side and Donald duck on the other!
When I first saw this movie I was horrified, I was repulsed. I couldn’t believe the gruesome scenes. So as a horror fan I LOVED IT!! Thank You Rob Zombie ♥️
the hollywood screener was too much. they went ham on the necrophilia scene. they edited alot just to be able to release it. i miss the pirate bay days once in a while.
First time i saw it was on an old 32in tube tv where the tube was going out and it showed everything in kind of an hourglass crop. The scene of her running underground with the red lights on such a screen was terrifying lol
I hope you’re right. I really hope it’s not another case like the Event Horizon disaster. It drives me freaking nuts knowing I’m never gonna get to see any of those cut scenes 😭
I agree. I've been following this since 2000. There is a master copy that had to have been made for the original festival screening. In early interviews he claimed a lot of it wasn't color graded or had complete sound effects. Later, the story changed to "the footage is lost". I think because he's a bit of a perfectionist, he doesn't want an "unfinished" version seen by the public, despite the massive demand from hardcore fans.
@SoCalCinema either that or he's holding on to that story for as long as he can before releasing the "finally found" edition and making hella money. I know I'd pay for it!
I love this movie. I was hoping he’d do a movie about the dr satan lore. I liked devils rejects but it was obviously watered down from house of 1000 corpses. 3 from hell was better than I expected. What was missing was Sid Haig. RIP legend.
How is rejects watered down? It's way more brutal and intense than corpses. They are also vastly different movies and styles of movie. Corpses is cartoonish while rejects is a straight up brutal exploitation movie.
3 from hell also sucked and was an obvious cash grab. Disgusting how they made sam leave the hospital for a role and onky gave hima single line despite him asking for more. Plus how they just invented a new character to fill sams role, and how that new character was almost cartoonishly bad at filling that role. Garbo sequel, devils rejects beats it by a mile
I don't know who SAM is???? But he had to change the script LAST minute because of Sid's terminal illness, he wanted to do more but his insurance said no way. Research you idiot instead of making things up.@@poopymcmonke

I always thought House of 1000 Corpses was a great effort by a first-time director. When I saw it the first time I could really pick out the other movies that influenced the style and themes of the story-telling. There's a lot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes throughout. I think Zombie really delivered on that sinking gut-punch feeling when you realize the good guys aren't going to make it out alive. There are a lot of supernatural elements, especially in the deleted scenes, that might show how erratic Zombie's thought-process was during the writing and filming process. Then in the sequel he drops almost all the supernatural stuff and delivers maybe one of the best sets of villains you could root for.
Yeah it was a great movie. I always wondered why it is that so many directors will just kill it on their first one or two films but then each subsequent film they do will deteriorate in quality. It’s weird but it’s such a phenomenon that there has to be a reason for it.
@@sabrinatscha2554 I think it's like the heavy metal band paradox. When you're a young band writing your first songs there is about 20 years of angst, aggression and experience to draw on. But by the time you reach 30, with moderate success on your 4th album your experiences include living in a higher tax bracket, tour busses that break down, how to fix a leaky basement for a house you haven't seen in 4 months and the feeling of having to write 3 more albums on a deal you can't escape while dealing with dwindling album sales that won't cover the production costs the those next 3 albums. Your original fans can't relate to the newer material so they don't buy the album, the label puts less money into your next work and it only snowballs downhill from there

According to TV Guide, Sid Haig was born Sid Mosesian, and his father's name was Haig Mosesian. Sid apparently used his dad's first name as his own working last name.
My favorite horror movie. Not for the quality or story telling. But it reminds me of going through a classic haunted house. It's just random horror fun

I have to say I love all of his work. This was great and even the 2nd film as well. What his vision of the Halloween movies with Micheal Myers was awesome. Matter of fact it made Micheal more realistic than him getting stabbed a million times and still coming back for more. He has a mind for this stuff and if we just let him go and he can do some much and bring it to the next level where it should have been all along.
Well, I'm not really sure which "version" I have of this film, but the one that I have comes in at 1 : 29 - That's One Hour and 29 Minutes long. I had no idea that it was so ruthlessly cut by the studio, nor did I know there was some rogue cut out there - but the version I have is certainly bloody and creepy. Maybe I have a "director's Cut" - but it isn't labeled as such so I don't know. I guess I need to re-watch it .....it's been a while anyway so I guess I'm due for another screening....Cheers - great video. I love Zombie's films, although I just watched "31" and I have to say it's the first Zombie flick I didn't care for that much.
I was mid teens when it was released. I had been watching horror since 5. House disturbed me like no other movie did at the time. Legendary movie. Always will be
Sid Haig was one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met! My 11 year old son and I met him at ComiCon many years ago, right after Devil's Rejects. He smiled at us as I said hi. My son stared at him, his eyes going wide, and Mr. Haig gave me a puzzled look. I said, " He just realized who you are!". Mr. Haig gave him a sinister smile and then shook it off and gave a genuine smile. They talked a bit and he shook my son's hand , and they parted as if great friends. My son was never afraid of Captain Spaulding again!
It would be awesome to see you do a breakdown of 1408 which I believe is a book or short story by Stephen King. Or a movie called the Poughkeepsie tapes which is good but also very disturbing when you realize stuff like that movie actually happens. Anyone in the comments if you haven't seen either of those movies I highly recommend them.
I saw it in theatres when it first came out. It definitely wasn’t a perfect film, but it had its fair share of memorable moments. Devil’s Rejects feels way more like a finished product that stands on its own feet.
I thought House was pretty good but Devil's Rejects was pretty much perfect for me even though not technically horror. Lords of Salem was really good as well. I think people that slept on that one should watch or rewatch it. There's something so oddly specific about the tone of that movie.
How much of the credit goes to bill and Sid though? They really made these characters and fleshed out the roles. Not being a jerk here or anything just looking to spark some interesting thoughts.
Zombie as a filmmaker peaked with his 1st movie. Although I will fight for The Lords Of Salem. I think that was his best film. A nod to Rosemary's Baby but still unique.
I hate to be this guy but the Lords of Salem was my least favorite of all. In my opinion it was just to slow and it didn't follow the horror route that Zombie naturally releases. 31 and 3 From Hell were his best movies since House of 1000 Corpses.
Love this film, and Devils Rejects, haven’t seen 3 from hell, don’t wanna ruin what I feel for these two movies. May be good but a break that long usually means no. Great Halloween movies!
House is my favorite rz film. The characters were so over the top but it worked for the kind of characters they were. Devils rejects was really good but I just prefer the demented characters in house, very odd to say but Devils rejects almost made seem tame by comparison
A throwback to the 80s freestyle approach to horror that knew no bounds. This movie, unlike his later work, was barely compromised by studio intervention. At times it felt like a music video, which was a welcome change from the same old cliché Hollywood shlock. I wish Rob would have remained in this free for all horror style.
Story Time! I was at San Diego Comic Con in 2003 & 2005 which was between this movie's release & The Devil's Rejects release. Saw his panel both times with the whole movie cast on stage. Info from Rob on stage: He said (in 2003) there was easily 1.5 hours of removed footage! The ratings board kept rejecting the film. The version we saw, if I remember correctly, was reviewed without sound. It was an excuse, and it worked to get it released. So the extra 15 minute version might have been a rating review leak before more final cuts. He also said, if he were to edit the full film, again back in 2003, he would want to rescore the whole thing, etc. aka not a half assed "Here's the extra footage" version. Most likely, he thought back then he could actually find all the removed footage.
It still feels like House is an unfinished story, Rejects & 3 from Hell are almost in an entirely different universe, i wish Zombie would revisit the House story and show what happened with Dr.Satan
Only been out a few days on DVD when I got a copy of it. My cousin didn't like or want it. Illegally copied. But very high quality. Been a movie fan ever since. Got to meet him and the rest of white zombie, in the 90's in Murfreesboro TN. It was only me and my friend that I took with me. Very nice and down to earth guy.
People say Devil's Rejects is better but honestly nothing tops the ambience of this movie. It felt more dark because, well, it was. Devil's Rejects happened in broad daylight for the most part. I also love the haunted house angle it had. Still haven't seen the third movie yet.
First time I ever saw this movie I was in the middle of the woods at a hotel are an insanely stormy night. Such a creepy night and it perfectly set the mood. I was 17 and thought this movie was horrifying. I don't remember being that freaked out to a horror movie since and I love horror. Instant classic to me. As I told my friends about it and we watched it again I realized it was somewhat cheesy lol but idc. I'll never forget the first night ever saw it during that storm in the middle of nowhere.
I remember going to a horror trivia panel at a convention and the winning answer was What was Rob Zombie's first film? It was so much fun to be the only one in the room who knew the answer. Time for a rewatch of this masterpiece. The casting is just perfect for the first film imo. I really wish we could get a proper release of the unedited version.
I was about to turn 13 when this came out in the cinema. My older sister knew very little about it and I talked her into taking me on opening weekend. Man...she was so upset about 5mins into the movie hahaha. So glad I got to see it on the big screen though.
Ugh I’d love for Universal to bring it back to HHN. I remember hearing it was gonna be there and was so heartbroken that I couldn’t afford to go see it
It's still a great movie! Fun to watch....like your buddy finally got enough money together to make a 'real' movie and this is what it turned into. Like an experiment, some parts worked and some didn't. It's still legit.
This movie was pretty good , even though it takes thing's from many others. But my problem with Rob Zombie movies after this are basically art house trash . For someone that is such a horror movie fan he can't seem to make a good one .
The only thing missing from three from hell is the fact that sig passed away rest in peace sig one hell of an actor and you will be missed my very favorite clown
Devils Rejects Halloween 1 House of 1000 Corpses 3 From Hell 31 ^^ and honestly I loved these a lot they were all dope af imo Halloween 2 Lords of Salem Beast of El Salvador didn’t come to theaters so I’m not ranking it.

Those boys were actually pictures of Rob Zombie and his brother (the lead singer of Powerman 5000) as children This was Dennis Fimple's last film. He was increasingly sick with heart disease during filming and a few of his scenes were filmed with him sitting down. Ultimately however, he died in a car crash in 2002. Dr. Wolfenstein's hairy lab assistant, lurking in the background, is unnamed in the film but listed in the credits - Rob Zombie. This film would establish Sheri Moon Zombie as a Scream Queen. Ironically enough, she does not like horror films as they scare her too much. Bill Moseley (Otis) and Jennifer Jostyn (Mary) share the same birthday, November 11th. Captain Spaulding tells Jerry when he asks about the house (of 1000 corpses): 'Do yourself a favour, son, just forget about it.', but he pushes. The film is very similar to Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) and in that film, as the cast ask the petrol station worker about the house they are interested in, and he also tries to talk them out of it (saying they are liable to get hurt).
I watched House of 1000 Corpses for the first time two years ago. I was dodging it because I didn’t really like Rob’s Halloween films but I was extremely surprised watching it. It really isn’t like any other horror film and it actually made me feel creeped out for the first time in many years. The ending sequence with the surgeon is just gold.
LOL this is when Rob was good and cared about making movies for the fans and movies and not so much money. Watch these along with devils rejects and the witches of Salom too. He had a good thing going. 31 was ok, the last of the trilogy was just ok also. With sid being old and sick and passing away really hurt things.
I will always remember seeing this in theaters as I had taken a hit or two of acid before and peaked during the film. What’s weird is I swore and to this day swear I had seen it before then which was impossible. I even called some scenes before they happened. I know it was the acid but man it was a wild experience

I love Zombie's films, although I just watched "31" and I have to say it's the first Zombie flick I didn't care for that much.
I'm sitting in the parking lot to a local theater waiting to see it on the big screen right now. So excited.
I remember seeing this film when I was like 12 or 13 and it was terrifying! Watching it back now I love the look and the casting is really spot on
This is my favorite of all of Zombie's movies.
songs from Rob Zombie's first solo album were also used in the PlayStation game "Nightmare Creatures"
Captain Spaulding is my favorite character of all time.
I was so in love with this movie when it came out I showed my friend and he stopped talking to me cause he thought I was gonna be a serial killer😂😂
Your son watched these movies with that age? 😅 I hope not!
Cool review and video< keep em up!
17 year old me and my friends loved this movie at its release in 2003. I haven't seen it in over a decade, but I think it's time for a re-watch.
You think The Poughkeepsie Tapes was just like real events? Where...?
1408 was an awesome movie. Never heard of the other, gonna look it up now
@@thomasaghotmailit says it's based on multiple serial killers and their tapes not just one specific killer
@@ryanmurphy1985its been a year. I hope you were able to find it and watch it. If you were able to watch it. Did you think it was good?
I saw it in theatres when it first came out. It definitely wasn’t a perfect film, but it had its fair share of memorable moments. Devil’s Rejects feels way more like a finished product that stands on its own feet.
One of the best most disturbing dark and gruesome horror movies I ever saw up to that point a cult classic for sure.
I thought House was pretty good but Devil's Rejects was pretty much perfect for me even though not technically horror. Lords of Salem was really good as well. I think people that slept on that one should watch or rewatch it. There's something so oddly specific about the tone of that movie.
+calvin coleman
Oh, absolutely!
How much of the credit goes to bill and Sid though? They really made these characters and fleshed out the roles. Not being a jerk here or anything just looking to spark some interesting thoughts.
Lords Of Salem is an homage to Polanski. A very good one, at that.
@@salvagemonster3612 oh definitely I can't think of anyone else playing Captain or Otis. Perfect casting.
Agreed
I love your channel. I'm glad I just subscribed.
Welcome aboard!
Devil's Rejects is definitely Zombies best flick!
Killing the villains mum and the final scene awesome
I actually loved his 1st halloween movie
Agreed
@@Mikey_The-Pikey same, i love all his movies but this halloween is amazing. i have the second one too and i can say that one is total ass lol
It’s his only good movie tbh. The guy has cool vision, but his screenwriting is just god awful.
That movie is great , with the gore style and dialogue , it has the feel of Texas chainsaw massacre and pulp fiction combined.
I'm always surprised to find that people honestly enjoy Rob Zombie's films.
Love this film, and Devils Rejects, haven’t seen 3 from hell, don’t wanna ruin what I feel for these two movies. May be good but a break that long usually means no. Great Halloween movies!
3 from Hell is utter trash. Please don't waste your time.
@@rollergoalie16 thank you! I had that feeling, this confirms it! I will just cherish the first 2
@@scottsmith9192 I can assure you that you don't want to let 3FH taint the awesomeness of the first two films.
House is my favorite rz film. The characters were so over the top but it worked for the kind of characters they were. Devils rejects was really good but I just prefer the demented characters in house, very odd to say but Devils rejects almost made seem tame by comparison
My buddy and I LOVED the first movie as teenagers. Used to quote so many lines
Underrated
I remember watching this movie daily when I was in high school
I’m requesting “The Unseen” from 1980
A throwback to the 80s freestyle approach to horror that knew no bounds. This movie, unlike his later work, was barely compromised by studio intervention. At times it felt like a music video, which was a welcome change from the same old cliché Hollywood shlock. I wish Rob would have remained in this free for all horror style.
I remember I feel in love wit this film cuz IFC was playing it non stop!!! I wanna say that was 05-06 when ifc was showing all day on their channel!!!
Story Time!
I was at San Diego Comic Con in 2003 & 2005
which was between this movie's release & The Devil's Rejects release.
Saw his panel both times with the whole movie cast on stage.
Info from Rob on stage:
He said (in 2003) there was easily 1.5 hours of removed footage!
I’ve grown up listening to rob zombie/white zombie I still listen to him to this day and his movies are the best I’ve seen for a while
This is one of my favorites if not fav of all time. I used to have this on repeat in 2004 and 05 on my dvd player.
I'm going to say the great Sid Haig passed away. Never ever gonna replace such an amazing actor.
"Well! Sh*t the bed!!!"
I would kill to see the 100% uncut verson!
People say Devil's Rejects is better but honestly nothing tops the ambience of this movie. It felt more dark because, well, it was. Devil's Rejects happened in broad daylight for the most part. I also love the haunted house angle it had. Still haven't seen the third movie yet.
I remember having 1000 Corps on DVD. Great movie ! We still need way more Rob zombie Films
As a teenager this film was banned from theaters in western Colorado. Such a fun time to be a horror fan.
Best one of the series IMO. Fun horror movie.
I hope the uncut version eventually surfaces for public view.
I'll never forget the first night ever saw it during that storm in the middle of nowhere.
no you didnt, how is that possible??
@@christopher8659 all about the setting. Made the movie perfect. And I had no idea what it was about.
I remember hearing it was gonna be there and was so heartbroken that I couldn’t afford to go see it
One Of My All Time Favorites
It's still a great movie! Fun to watch....like your buddy finally got enough money together to make a 'real' movie and this is what it turned into. Like an experiment, some parts worked and some didn't. It's still legit.
This movie was pretty good , even though it takes thing's from many others. But my problem with Rob Zombie movies after this are basically art house trash . For someone that is such a horror movie fan he can't seem to make a good one .
+Feck
Well, here's to hoping he does decently enough with _The_ _Munsters_ .
You really are a snobby troll aint'ya?
So much detail, so many layers, the more you watch, the more you see.
Is that more good or more bad or just more?
The only thing missing from three from hell is the fact that sig passed away rest in peace sig one hell of an actor and you will be missed my very favorite clown
Best movie out from Rob Zombie.
I enjoyed the sequel but not as much.
I still need to see the latest one though.
R.I.P. Sid
Devils Rejects
Halloween 1
House of 1000 Corpses
3 From Hell
31
^^ and honestly I loved these a lot they were all dope af imo
Halloween 2
Lords of Salem
Beast of El Salvador didn’t come to theaters so I’m not ranking it.
Love that Rob is wearing a Danzig shirt!!! 🖤🤘
Run Rabbit! Run!❤️🤘🏻
I have a old VHS movie that has a teaser trailer for this movie. Just two guys digging a hole and the release date. Then the date came and went and no movie I was like WTF until a guy in SUNCOAST VIDEO told me that it wasn't getting released. I was so bummed lol
3 From Hell was ridiculous!! An entire country can't kill 2 men and a woman!! Lame!!
He also has a version of Halloween when he uses all the original music I cannot find that anymore
There is more than one instance where you see a poster for two missing young boys. Those boys were actually pictures of Rob Zombie and his brother (the lead singer of Powerman 5000) as children
This was Dennis Fimple's last film. He was increasingly sick with heart disease during filming and a few of his scenes were filmed with him sitting down. Ultimately however, he died in a car crash in 2002.
Universal Pictures (original production company) refused to release the film, believing it would be given an "NC-17" rating by the MPAA.
Film debut of Sheri Moon Zombie, who was credited as Sheri Moon.
The film takes place on October 30, 1977.
The film was NC-17 but was cut to an R rating, the cut footage was never released.
As of 2021, many of the film's stars have passed away, including Karen Black, Sid Haig, Tom Towles, Dennis Fimple, Irwin Keyes, Matthew McCrory and Michael J. Pollard. This seems to be a rare distinction for a movie that is not yet 20 years old (if going by the release year of 2003).
This marks the debut of Rob Zombies long series with loving wife Sherri Moon.
Exteriors of the Firefly com
At around 37 mins) When Baby threatens to cut Mary with a knife, foreshadows near the end, when she stabs Mary to death.
Omg this film is awesome. An absolute classic
House of 1000 Corpses is an extended music video.
RIP Sid Haig, he nailed the role of Captain Spalding
This movie is great to watch when you're stoned. It was in that state that I finally understood the whole thing.
Care to explain it to us of the sober nature?
What a work of stunning art I miss horror movies like this we need more I adore every movie made by zombie
This shit was fresh back in the day man
In my opinion, this is the best of the firefly trilogy, The Devils Rejects is overrated.
I wish all 3 of this Trilogy movies were shot in the same style of House of a 1000 corpses
2:34 to allow tourists to “Owgel”? The sets lmao
O man I loved the mazes I went to both the one at Universal and the one the rob did on his own so sick I loved it wish they bring those back man
I will always remember seeing this in theaters as I had taken a hit or two of acid before and peaked during the film. What’s weird is I swore and to this day swear I had seen it before then which was impossible. I even called some scenes before they happened. I know it was the acid but man it was a wild experience
Rob Zombie has a knack for horror. He should do more, dude could be the next John Carpenter.
