Sid Haig was such a sweetheart, while I met/got his autograph at San Diego comic con several years before he passed. He was so down to earth and so there for his fans, Bill Moseley is very much the same like that too. RIP Sid 💜

@5:00 - Regarding "Why do people hate clowns?" - I have a PhD in psychology and I vaguely remember discussing briefly in one of my classes how one hypothesis is that because clowns have painted-on expressions on their face, which may or may not match their actual emotion/affect in the moment, on a biological level it makes it difficult for a subject to "read" the situation and determine whether the clown is harmless or a threat. This makes for an unconsciously unsettling experience. The term "coulrophobia" is the fear of clowns
The oversized lips and eyebrows distort the face so that the brain perceives it as human but slightly off. That oddness is heightened by a clown's bizarre costume. In addition, clowns are highly unpredictable as well as mischievous, which puts people on edge.
The more interesting question, is why do people love clowns? That unsettling experience keeps the fear up, lets you know you're alive. I giggle my way through horror houses, penthurst insane asylum had most of my buddies squealing like little girls, was honestly surprising how easily most people are startled to the point of screaming or even sprinting out the entrance even knowing its all just fun.
@@gabewalker3764 Fair point, the same could be said of scary movies and roller coasters. Some people love them and others hate them. Interestingly, the body's arousal response to both excitement and fear looks pretty similar. It might just be the emotional interpretation of the situation that makes the difference.
@@landonwhyte2973 Also likely true. Associating clowns with dangerous examples (like Gacy, the bizarre clown sightings in 2016, and Captain Spaulding) may contribute to a generalization that clowns are dangerous
It's not your typical "horror film" ... it's more of a film about the horrors of the lack of humanity in some people... more gore than horror... I love a good horror flick.. this movie was very unsettling how there are these monsters out there walking the earth that are capable of this ... That is the horror of this horror flick... Love Captain Spalding... Great character...
I "accidently" downloaded a copy of this before it was released. It was a rough extended cut with time stamps. The video was in two parts. That video is NOT the same as the one that was released and it was absolutely one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. About ten years latter I dug it up and watched it with a bunch of friends who were a fan of this and they were shocked! The story of this movie being made and the response the studio execs had when first seeing the rough cut was appropriate for that version albeit that version needs to be released.
@@Christophergpeters That's crazy. I recall downloading the movie as a torrent. It was listed as "House of 1000". I queued it up with probalbly 10-20 other random movies most of which I had no idea what they were. I am not a horror fan and I could not get through it. Probably took me 10 years to watch it and that was with a group of friends who were also questioning my downloaded copy. I have not come across this in over 8 years and have moved multiple times since. I do not recall any music what so ever and the entire thing looked in a rough edit form. I believe it was the version that was shown to the studio executives who freaked out when they saw it, and I understand their response. The friends who were interested in it were shocked when we watched. I don't recall the entire movie especially the end seems entirely absent to me. That being said, I have watched the released version of it and I can say it is extremely toned down. What I saw in that original was true horror.
Such a great group of characters... I kinda wish they could've been around for more than just a trilogy. Bill Mosley is an American treasure and such an icon..
I've watched this movie a dozen times. It's funny and the casting is spot on. I wonder what is in the script or what is ad-libbed. BTW: the reason people hate clowns probably has a lot to do with John Wayne Gacy
Love this but to answer sids question that was posed to him I know fear of clowns has been a phobia for a long time but gacy catapulted it to the next level which also helped create Stephen king's it etc.
Has it though? Some of the oldschool clowns look straight up terrifying by today's standards, and the kids seemed mostly complacement whereas today they would prolly be crying and hiding. I think that Stephen King and the movie industry were able to capitilize on an easily understandable fear that lies in an uknown/masked/faceless sadistic variable that takes joy in that fear.
Dude who played Otis is the classic example of new money.. Talking about pricing out potential houses for himself in Bel-Air because he’s “expecting” a huge change in his financial situation. That kind of thinking is how you end up broke as hell.
Exactly! It's pathetic how people spend their money. Guy could buy a ranch somewhere and live like a king forever. Dumping money into certain California real estate is just like going to a casino.
...and better believe - you certainly *DID* make a real horror movie. This movie will go down in history the way TCM and Evil Dead series have to our generation.
