      They have C-Clip eliminators if that was a worry you had about running an Explorer Axle

    So much good information. I should have gone with a full floater. Can I upgrade to a Full Floater from a semi-floater on my Currie F9 3.5" tube axle?

    Anyone have opinions on gear ratios and tire size? Obviously that depends on vehicle use, hp, rpm range, transmission, etc, but can anyone drop down what they're running? Right now I have a 2001 dodge dakota 4.7l v8. 230hp at 4,600 rpm and 290 tq at roughly 3,600 rpm. (From what I could find for a stock 01 4.7) I'm getting 4.10s installed and I'm running 33s. Right now it's a daily, but want to build out later.

    • @thezombikilla
      @thezombikilla 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      4.10 will be a good all around gear with your setup. If you go to bigger tires and want more offroad only use then something like 4.88 or 5.13 would do you good.

    • @usMarinecuv902
      @usMarinecuv902 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thezombikilla yeah, I'll run this setup for a while and see how I like it. I'll definitely be moving up to 35s the next set of tires and run the 4.10s for a bit until I can decide if I'll stop at 35s or move to to 37s ha. For sure if I go 37s ill change to 4.88s, but I don't know if going to 4.56s for the 35s is worth it if I end up going 37s ha

      I have 500hp.. 3,000 rpm stall..35's on a 4 link truck.. I'm running 5:13.. so I still have decent road speed..and decent dirt manner

      @@usMarinecuv902 i have a WJ with same engine/tranny as you. 37's on 1 tons with 3.73s, gonna move to 5.38s. previous axles i had 5.13s with 32s and was fairly happy with it.

    Coatings and or finishes on gears? Oil choices?

    • @dobermanracing
      @dobermanracing 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cryo treat the gears and bearings. 85w140 redline gear oil.

    • @dhrracer

      @@dobermanracing Any body doing REM finishes? I had the opportunity a number of years ago to visit a number Nascar shops. Did not get to go into Penske's gear room but could see into and every gear (trans and axles) were REM finished. And all the teams were running a ball/convexed shaped splined axle at wheel end to enable to shim spindle for both toe and camber.
