    Very nice video Ciprian! 👍📻⚡️ Great contacts too! I recently received my (tr)uSDX and have made two SSB QRP contacts. Quite exciting! Enjoy that transceiver and I look forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers & 73, Tom - WA7FLY

      Thank you so much Tom. Enjoy yours as well. Ohh yes is really fun indeed. I was honestly not expecting to reach so far with only 5W. It was quite a surprise for me. Plus that is the first and only TRX for HF that I have after receiving my license, so that makes things even more exciting for me. 73 DE YO6DXE.

    I really like the (tr)uSDX rig. I especially enjoyed tuning the outputs and adding a couple of small modifications.

      Mine came already adjusted so I didn't had that pleasure. But I bet is fun and then take advantage of the results. I can't get enough of this TRX. 73

    I just got my (tr) uSDX a couple weeks ago. I have had other CW QRP rigs in the past, so far my best SSB DX is Montana to Hawaii. Definitely a fun little rig with lots of capability for the price. 73 DE N7BYD

      It is indeed a fun little rig. Lots of fun using it. I'm sure CW will be better to increase the distance. For me so far the biggest is a little over 3000km from Romania to Assiatic Russia. 73 DE YO6DXE

    QRP is the bomb! I just built the QDX from QRP Labs for Digi Modes...works a treat and lots of fun. When I'm too drunk for CW (or hung over) FT8 is my mode of choice. Congrats on being on the air, homebrewing your way there takes longer but makes it so much more fulfilling. 73 de VK2AOE

      It is indeed a lot of fun. Ohh God you are too funny hahaha. I want to try some digital modes as well. I'm finishing working on a few antennas I want to test and then I will get into that as well. I'm not much of a Digital guy but its worth trying for the fun of it. Hehehe. Hope to catch you on FT8 then soon. 73 DE YO6DXE.

    Hi Chip, glad you're having fun! The EFHW works well. It is my main antenna. I don't have space for a dipole. It will be interesting to see how the dipole and vertical will go. Looking forward to your homebrew SSB transceiver. It definitely is a thrill to make contacts with your own built transceiver. Take care, 73, VK7IAN.

      @dxexplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just woke up ))) Indeed it will be fun to do QSO's with a homebrew one. About the antennas... I think the reason why I want to try a fee designs is just to be able to compare them. But I real life... because what is on paper is never the same in reality so its better to experiment and compare 😁😁😁 73 Ian.

    Great video! I am also a (tr)uSDX user and recognize the stations from your QSO’s. They are willing to help QRP operators filling their logs. Did you modify the handset you are using or is the inbuild mic already sensitive enough? 73 de PD5ANT

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed they are helpful... some even concentrate a lot on QRP stations. I actually never used the built in microphone. When I received the TRX, it came with an external handset already so I keep using that one. I just noticed in a QSO a min ago that if running on batteries and the voltage goes under 9v the reports I get is that I have a bad modulation. Not sure whats the issue at the moment but my TX drive was down to 3 in the menu. At 6 it was really bad... 3 was a little better. Still I need to figure that out and make sure I have a clean signal. 73 DE YO6DXE.

      @@dxexplorer I bought and use a Baofeng handset but I doubt if it is worse or better than the original internal mic.

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest I think it's pretty much the same internal mic... not some big difference. Except the fact that instead of holding the entire TRX in your hand... you only hold a mic instead )))

    Keep working on CW. Best thing I did was join the Straight Key Century Club. They have really good community, and a sked page you can use as a back channel to schedule QSOs and to chat when you miss stuff.
    Put out a CQ at the pace you want someone to reply, and they should come back at the same speed. I would send NEW TO CW SO PSE GO EZ HI HI.
    The SKCC crowd have a pretty straight forward QSO format, which is RST OP QTH and SKCC number. If you get their logging software, all that info is already in a database for you. All you need to do is to copy the RST and you can pick the rest out of the log :-)
    I only just got back on the air a couple of years ago, and haven’t been on the for the last couple of months. Too many other priorities and having to spend 30 minutes prep to get on the air, has limited my operating. That said, I’ve been using Morse Ninja to keep progressing my CW copy skills. I’m still struggling to get to 20WPM reliable head copy, but when I keep up the regular 10 minutes a day, I see improvements.

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is great to know... I didn't know about all that. And yes I will keep working on learning the code as I really like CW and to be honest I can't wait for the day I will be able to do a QSO in CW. The best part is that I can do that with really simple equipment hahaha. Thank you one more time. 73 DE YO6DXE.

    • @MidlifeRenaissanceMan
      @MidlifeRenaissanceMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dxexplorer CW will get you a little further than voice on 5W. It’s also easy enough to build a simple and cheap amp to give you 20-50W which, the extra S point and a bit will help your signal cut through against the Italian QRP stations that are only running 100W :-) (that’s a joke)
      A couple of IRF510s in class E with enough voltage should give you enough squirt in your antenna to get you here into VK when the conditions are right :-)
      Looking forward to seeing a video of that first CW QSO

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought Italian stations are at least 1Kw 😅😅😅 hahaha. Indeed I love the simplicity of the equipment both on amplifiers and also on the amp side. Is actually what kept me going until now even if I don't know the code yet. I think I have at least 50 schematics of things related to CW that I kept saving for years and now I want to build. The ugly days season is coming so that means I will have enough time to be stuck in the house and learn the code while also building more stuff. Now with the license things are more exciting than before when I was not allowed to transmit. 73 DE YO6DXE. Have an amazing weekend.

    • @MidlifeRenaissanceMan
      @MidlifeRenaissanceMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dxexplorer I shall neither confirm nor deny whether or not I operated before I had my license reinstated officially :-) but if you were thinking of running unlicensed, I would use CW as at least it implies that you know what you’re doing :-)
      The first mobile CW QSO I had was on 10m at around 12WPM with a VK5 station who, when I looked up his callsign when I got home, had a callsign that didn’t exist and didn’t match any of the other variations I tried…I assume a pirate station :-)
      Just keep picking away. I’m sure you’re more than capable of an RR UR 5NN 5NN 73 TU dit dit. But I did a full RST OP and QTH for my first few calls. It’s addictive once you get started.
