Always in a rush,,, always overthinking, over analyzing, over everything. This hymn always comes to mind when I need a reminder that I just need to breathe... and be Lead by God.
I play this song on my headset while crossing the campus of the University. I sometimes shed tears on route to my class because it’s so beautiful. I grew up listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir . May the add a blessing to these gifted saints and musicians.
This rendition of this beautiful hynm plays in my mind and heart throughout the day leading my thoughts to my Savior. It still brings tears. Thank you choir.
This Hymn tells my story more than I ever could. I spent so much of my life caught up in the cycle of my own pride and finally had an “epiphany” while talking with my mother. I heard in my soul, “you need to stop.” At that moment I knew I had to change...so I put my faith in the source of that epiphany...one step at a time...still walking and working, falling and getting back up. “I do not wish to see, one step enough for me.”
I remember four years ago when I was in the midst of blaming God for my mothers death. I remember when I got sick and blamed Him again saying how He hated me. I also remember when the most profound moment of my realization that all these things were to strengthen me. As I serve him in all my capacities I feel His light constantly guiding me. Who knew a man who cursed, drank to stupor, hated people, walked in gangs, could have been turned into a loving, devoted husband and father? Who knew the wonderful blessings the gospel would bring into my family? Only God knew, so let Him lead you.
Lyrics 1. Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom; Lead thou me on! The night is dark, and I am far from home; Lead thou me on! Keep thou my feet; I do not ask to see The distant scene-one step enough for me. 2. I was not ever thus, nor pray’d that thou Shouldst lead me on. I loved to choose and see my path; but now, Lead thou me on! I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears, Pride ruled my will. Remember not past years. 3. So long thy pow’r hath blest me, sure it still Will lead me on O’er moor and fen, o’er crag and torrent, till The night is gone. And with the morn those angel faces smile, Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile!
Beautiful and meaningful song. I just found it in an old Methodist hymnal from 1901 and looked for it here. The old Christian hymns were so worshipful and instructive.
You may think that this is what the angels sound like, but if you read Isaiah 6, you will discover that as they cry "Holy, holy, holy!", they are actually proclaiming it in a voice so loud, that it shakes the temple to its foundation.
@@thetabernaclechoir what are the specs on that flute in the opening seconds? I love the sound !! closed hole flute? offset? split-e mechanism? silver/gold plated? head joint details? drawn or soldered tone holes? B or C foot joint? I am a beginner to the instrument, but this song definitely inspired me to want to learn the flute
So true. In the past year, I have realized he speaks through everyone who is open to His light. Every time I hear a speaker or teacher in church now, I know it is Him without a doubt speaking through them, even those who I might have before thought were "boring." I was wrong. He speaks through all of them who let His light in.
This brilliant choir renders the plea of a Christian heart in harmonious beauty with their singing to our Saviour Jesus Christ on our behalf. So wonderful.
What a beautiful tune...I find myself listening to the tabernacle choir over n over these days! It brings to me such wonderful hope! I truly love my Savior❤
"Lead, Kindly Light", "O Divine Redeemer", "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing", "Be Still, My Soul", and "Homeward Bound". Such soul soothing hymns. The Good Shepherd WILL forgive us for wandering, protect us and gently guide us to safety - if we let Him....
This choir is so magnificent. Its members can sing well but, I am sure that it is the type of lives that they carry, in their conducts, the main thing that promotes the beauty that they impact us with.
Looking forward to April 2022 General Conference!! Tomorrow…1st Saturday and Sunday in April!! Dear Jesus, through your prophet and apostles who are inspired to tell us what you want us to know….lead Thou me on!! I do not ask to see, the distant scene….one step enough for me!”
Beautiful! ! It is precious to His Heart when all come together for Him, putting aside all earthly differences...That's what the Light of Christ does! He's waiting for us to figure that out! Lead Kindly Light!
May the Lord God be ever praised for the gift of this beautiful choir and this inspired music. I sometimes ponder what dear Brother Joseph would have thought could he hear this today.
Our relationship to God is not static, fixed. Our relationship with God, which we call “faith,” is best characterized as a journey, a movement outward in trust that God leads us by the bonds of love
If you read about John Henry (later Cardinal) Newman's life, the words to this beautiful setting (Lux Benigna) make even more sense. My tiny UCC choir will be singing this later in Lent.

Amazing!!! Thanks so much our brothers and sisters for sharing this amazing music giving peace in my soul and spreading love everywhere !! It's so beautiful !!!
I wish I had done a few things differently. I am hoping that I can make them right. I know that we all need to do what we can to save ourselves and others. If we save ourselves, we sometimes save others too. I hope that I can make right anything that I ever did wrong.
3.32 pm For those of us who are somewhat hard of hearing, it would be more than nice if we could call up the lyrics in the form of, say a transcript, that would allow our minds to more clearly hear the words as the choir sings.😊
+John Santucci You should see in our Churchwide, global addresses called General Conference - our Church leaders have quoted Mother Teresa, Saints, etc. It's really cool!
John Henry Newman was NOT a Roman Catholic when he wrote this magnificent poem. It just shows that the grace of God knows no boundaries ... especially not the ones our human institutions impose.

I sang this at my grandma’s funeral fifty years ago in 1974. It still brings tears to my eyes.
This is one of my favorite hymns.

Whenever I seek refuge from the daily sins of man I listen to these guys they make me feel closer to God :)
Amen to them, amen to you. I feel the same way. It is an amazing form of meditation in christ

Thanku

This has to be what the angels sound like. When everything feels rotten, they bring me back to a positive light.
Gail Fattori We're glad you enjoy our music! Hope you keep having a great day!

When the EYE is single the BODY is full of light; when the BODY is full of LIGHT it is well with the SOUL. LEAD KINDLY LIGHT, lead on. Majestic, amen.
The voice of God is speaking through this choir!

I could just imagine how heaven would be like with so many voices singing and praising God with angelic voices together with the angelic choirs.

Lead, kindly light, the words in the lyrics, says it all, to ADONAI be all the glory.
This beautiful music enables me to endure my fasting. I simply feast on this beautiful God sent sound.

Thank you, This hymn got me through very dark times and is a true inspiration. Lead me on!
It was the favourite of William McKinlay who was the US President.
lyric by St John Henry Newman, one of the greatest English saints in the Catholic church.
A great hymn sung beautifully by the Mormon`s.
my eyes tears of joy and peaceful thought...
Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom
Lead thou me on

Who knew the Mormons would sing so much Catholic music!
+John Santucci We invite Catholics to sing our hymns of the Restoration. "The Spirit of God" or "Come Come Ye Saints". Feel free :)

Indeed John! Beautiful words from Cardinal Newman!

John Henry Newman converted to Roman Catholic, he was recently proclaimed a Saint. May many Mormons convert to the True Church.
