When he talks about his guitars , it’s a walk down memory lane also , which is beautiful. Now for Phil, still rocking us hard , an amazing guitarist ,and looking good ❤️🔥❤️🔥🎶
Love Phil...I could listen to him talk about his Jackson guitars all day long. He is one of the reasons why I play Jackson. Excellent player and sexy guitars I might say.
Bela! 🤩 Phil played it on Animal the first time I saw Def Leppard in the early 90s, and I just about lost my mind when the lights went down for the 4-count break at the end. Spooky AF and sounds amazing too!
I wonder if Vivian got Phil into the Dimarzio X2n's as thats what Viv used when he was Dio. Phil has been a Dimarzio SD3 guy seems like forever, so it's interesting the change. I have guitars with both, both are pretty hot pickups, I prefer the SD3 though
I love the 'Clown' Jackson guitar used in the 'Animal' videoclip. 'Hysteria' was my introduction to DEF LEPPARD, and yours and Steve's unique guitar playing styles. The layering of distinctive guitar parts is one of many facets that distinguishes DEF LEPPARD from many rock groups of the golden age of hard rock. Keep up the excellent work and continue to bring your music to the masses of DEF LEPPARD fans worldwide.
"Clown"...?!! Um, no. That is Bela Lugosi, who played Dracula on it. The guitar is called Bela because of that. Personally, I think his best old guitar is called "Crackle" and is the other main guitar you would see him playing back in the 80s, the black Jackson with the crackle finish he plays for most of the Hysteria tour and in the Hysteria filmclips...
It's great that bands like Def Leppard are using social media pretty much to it's fullest - sharing with us content and insight that band's were never able to do before. Thanks for the inspiration, Phil! - Manny of The Ticking Clocks
I'm going to sound like many others but I got my first Jackson because of Phil too. I later also bought a PC1. I remember when I first heard Def Leppard and they blew me away. The way the guitars where working together was different and how hard they worked on crafting their songs. Talented musicians. Also, if you want to know how to work in a band for success they are the example. No pettyness or infighting.
You have to be born with the talent. I'd say most, if not all, are born with the talent. I always wanted to play like Phil.. but I have no natural talent so I had to spend hours and days learning songs and it still sounded like "pluck, pluck pluck". Steve actually was classicly trained so he has that background but he still had the talent.
Only a non-musician would think that somebody is "self taught", esoecially on an instrument like a guitar. Somebody showed him something, reagrdless whether he took formal lessons or not. Booke magazines...that's all instruction. That you don't have a proper instructor isn't the point. Again, this is why only a non-musician would make such a comment.
Cool, many Thanks Phil. Awesome to see this historically significant Guitars from Your Carreer. For us guitar players is this a glimpse of heaven and the holy grail !!! Many Thanks ❤️ 🤟😎
I understand why Phil Loves the X2N so much. It's a monster pickup. I've been using them too for almost forty years. I use a parallel switch for cleans.
The way Phil talks about his guitars you would think that they are his friends lol He is a true Trubodor he can really make his guitar sing! Also he can sing very good himself ! Absolutely Amazing 🤩🤩🤩
So you are holding Splatter Artist Proof 9 there, and you have AP 1 as well, got any spair for me out of the run of 30? haha they do look and sound great!!
I think it’s so that way if anything malfunctions on his guitar with the bridge while he’s playing his tech dosent have to worry about unscrewing the back plate off he can just immediately go in there and fix the issue
I'm shocked that Phil doesn't have a guitar with Leopard skins or Def Leppard emblems, hopefully in the near future Jackson will make a custom one for him.
Phil was arguably Grover's first BIG sign up, and he has stayed loyal since the mid 80's. Not my style as I love Gibsons - Steve 'The Riffmaster' Clark's Les Paul Custom creme coloured triple humbuckers and Kahler tremolo is THE most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. Gibson, to their eternal shame have never done a run of Steve's creme Custom. The concert below imo is THE best DL concert in history. Denver Colorado 'In The Round'. Steve just blows the entire stadium away with his brother from another Mother best mate Phil. This concert Phil also used Jackson exclusively. th-cam.com/video/OxP6Zf0sUug/w-d-xo.html
Phil - lovely human being. He should spend as much time practicing his arpeggios as he does doing one handed push-ups. He's gotten sloppy over the years but at least he's still giving it a go. It's nice that he's not listening to all the fans tell him to hang it up. I don't understand all the animosity towards Vivian though. He couldn't stop slagging him off. Not sure what that was about. Have a nice day.
Yea I don’t understand why people say he’s sloppy he isn’t that sloppy I mean Phil said his shredding can be sloppy at times but I don’t think it’s an issue but yea I think it’s dumb how people tell Phil to hang up the guitar I see it all the time in Phil collen guitar videos

An interview should be where we hear somebody speak. Difficult to do that with unnecessary background music.
