I guess everyone expected some PTR updates here, but they delayed it to next week: us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/t/patch-269-ptr-begins-week-of-524/16551/256 Sorry for making their servers implode yesterday! :/
I think in some other games they call them “server ticks” which are essentially the number of times the server performs actions in one second. Guess those two are equivalent things
I only play casual so had never thought of the break points ( a.k.a damage tiers) in D3. It is important in many games like this and the only game I ever "min-maxed' was Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO. I doubt I would ever play this game seriously enough to care doing this but it is invaluable to know there is a way to calculate it.
I was jumping between my seasonal and non seasonal dh. And noticed my non seasonal clears things faster... And i just now realized i probably lack attack speed because it seems like I'm skipping attacks if i hit the trigger to quickly.
They should have used an algorithm to use fractional amounts between break points. In example is your attack speed is 1.10 then, every 600 frames you get an additional attack 30 frames later. Rather they set it up truncate values. This game gets ridiculously granular at higher GRs. To have values that do not have any applicable use can ruin a build. Then, again balance for high level play pretty much boils down to a single build being the best for each class.
I looked at corpse explosion - all runes and no rune - and there is no mention of a breakpoint. Is it the case that not all skills have this? Will any increase in attack speed always help corpse explosion?
I know I'm a year late, but corpse explosion is also affected by attack speed, yes. The game doesn't actually explain or talk about breakpoints, it's just how the coding of attack speed works. But my immediate thoughts are that it's not worth it going for extra breakpoints with corpse explosion, as you will be limited by the amount of corpses you can generate. Attack speed is (usually) only really useful in situations where your frames per is attack bottleneck your damage output.
@wudijo So i read a WW+Rend barb does not need AS on gear when running the Istvan's set, as the stacks of the blades + Paragon give the 2 stacks of Rend per second already. But would you still consider AS on main weapon a requirement since it increases the DPS of the weapon itself?
Hey, did anyone catch the name of the app he's using to analyze his character's break points? This guy seems really sharp but he talks faster than rent and I couldn't understand the name of the app.
is it possible to simulate the echoing fury legendary ability of "engulf the wielder into a frenzy" on a witch doctor with spirit barrage in d3planner ?
Great video, makes it alot easier to understand the concept behind breakpoints. However I still have a question about the current meta WD. You talked about the effects of breakpoints when channeling spirit barrage, but how do they work if you place the phantasms on the floor and always let them run for 9 seconds for example? Do the breakpoints matter in that case at all, or is IAS just a linear damage multiplier then? And in that case that would mean that if you play with pain enhancer your IAS rolls except for the one on your weapon become pretty insignificant right?
Yes, if you let them run out, atk speed is a simple damage multiplier on phantasms (for now, might get removed next patch). Wudi also didn't say that some skills and some pets do not get any breakpoints and instead the atk speed value is a straight multipliern it's the case for tempest rush and skeleton archers for example. As you said, if you play pain enhancer, usually atk speed rolls on gear lose value because you get a lot from pe stacks in the first place. Also worth noting is that sheet atk speed is capped 5 aps, but skill atk speed (like yangs buff) can go over that cap.
Is it possible to use punish faster than 12fps / 5aps? I used echo fury and it's reaching 9fps but I saw a video recently that claims 12fps is max for d3
@@cgrapper69 D3Planner shows breakpoint only for Archers and Contamination rune, for some reason. But anyway, AFAIK Mages have no breakpoints (in planner, after hovering it on those runes it will show no table), their attack speed doesn't change with your APS, only damage does (your APS is straight multiplier for them), only way to change it is by Tasker and Theo gloves.
@@sebk1e that's correct, mages just scale with attack speed directly through their damage per hit (Taskers being the exception, making them attack faster)
Love your videos and content you so dam I informative down to the last detail, so I have a small question for you cause you are the man to ask for sure Question being: can you run double yangs recurve by that I mean if I have a yangs equipped and put a yangs in the cube can I essentially get 400% multi shot dmg from having both them
60 fps is a server limitation. Even if your computer displays the frame twice (as in, 120 fps), it still doesn't get the update that animation is finished until the third frame (which would be the second frame at 60 fps).
yea then maybe they would explain this in the actual game, I can't tell you how much time i wasted cause I had no idea about breakpoints or even d3 planner XD
Thank you Wudi, you are the man. I have a 128 clear on my Barb because of you and Raxx. Keep it up, I really look forward to your content.
breakpoints are important. For example I'm at a breaking point of grinding and not getting primals. But who cares, primals are useless ™ (wudijo © 2020 , all rights reserved)

Great video wudi, I've never seen breakpoints explained like this. Thank you!!!

Excellent video. Very clear. Thanks for doing this.
For anyone wondering, yes it’s the same 60fps on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 👍🏼
Hi, do you think that the Breakpoints of the Skills that appear in D3 Planner will serve me for the PS3 version (2.06) of Diablo 3?
I think in some other games they call them “server ticks” which are essentially the number of times the server performs actions in one second. Guess those two are equivalent things
Nice tips, Wudi, thanks for the lesson!
Jesus christ never thought of it. Thanks for the info!
Well, computer games didn't exist back then.
Nice! I made a question on another video! Found this one! Good!!

8:55 The phantasms ticks each 30 frames so 2 ticks per second not 1 ;)

So i hadn't come to that point of your video yet where you say you generally avoid %AS on dual wield builds. :)

You can attack faster than 5aps with specific skills that have a speed multiplier, for example when you wear Hunter's Wrath or the Monk's Raiment Set
FPA 30 isnt meaning of a skill required 30 frames to complete?
Hi wudijo
What's the best breakpoint for Spirit barrage?
Tks for all
Are there no breakpoints for skeletal mages on the necro? Doesnt show the breakpoints
it doesnt show breakpoints on my d3planner but i see it did in yours. Do i need an update?

Cube effects do not stack with equipment effects. You will get the bonus from one of them and the other will essentially be a wasted slot.
