I switched to pastels years ago when my work schedule was so demanding I only had tiny Snippets of time to produce art. With pastels, if I had 10 minutes, I could spend 10 minutes creating art and not 20 minutes cleaning up brushes afterwards. When I started using pastels, there were not a lot of options on the market in terms of brands or paper options. At that time, pastels were condescendingly looked upon as second-class mediums. Thankfully, now pastels are recognized as a true art medium to be admired. Thanks to people like you, Marla, pastels have become acceptable.
You can do it on pastel paper such as Pastelmat and Uart and Lux Archival. But there are a few that you can't do it on. The manufacturer should indicate whether it works with wet medium. You can also use pastels on watercolor paper and print making paper like Fabriano.

Hi Maria, thnx for this video. When you do a watercolor underpainting, do you do that on watercolour paper or is it also possible on pastelpaper?
